barcode badly displayed while rendering a report in PDF

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Dear all,

I have a famous barcode issue while rendering a report in PDF: the barcode is badly displayed...  To display the barcode on the report I'm using the "Code128" font and this font is of course installed on both server and client sides.

While displaying the report, the barcode is fine, while extracting the report under Excel, the barcode is fine too, while exporting the repot in an Image, the barcode is fine too... but while exporting the report in PDF the barcode is wrong... I've tried manually or by programing using the render function... in both case the barcode is bad. I've also tried to play with the font size without any good result...

Also I saw that the PDF file created is in version 1.3 while today exists the version 1.5 (ie: Office 2007 is using PDF 1.5). Is it plan to update the PDF rendering in report viewer from 1.3 to 1.5? Maybe it could fix this issue...

Note: I'm running SQL Server 2008 R2 64b build 10.50.1600.1, Report Viewer 9.0.30729 under MS Windows 2003 Server 64b.

Someone have a solution to this issue?

Thank you for any help,

Vincent

Rendering a report in TIFF at 300ppi

It's amazing to me that something that should be so simple has already eaten up nearly a day. This URL : //s0550284/ReportServer?/ERecordingReports/Report1&rs:Format=IMAGE&rc:DpiX=300&rc:DpiY=300&rc:PageHeight=11in&rc:PageWidth=8.5in&rs:Command=Render Should cause a report to be rendered as TIFF at 300ppi with a page size of 8.5 x 11. Instead, what I get is a TIFF image file at 96ppi with some rediculously large page size. If I try the same URL without the page size limiters, I get exactly the same results. There seems to be absolutely no way to get the reporting engine to diverge from it's default 96ppi setting. Changing the values in the configuration files has no effect. It's as if the 96ppi value was accidentally hardcoded in the web service interface somewhere and not subject to override. Has anyone had any success trying to change the image density? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated! I'm running SSRS 2008 R2. Regards, -Tom

Rendering reports in crystal report viewer

I am trying to put a crystal report viewer into MVC. When I point a report to the viewer, this is what I get.The report is able to display however there are these box surronding the textfield objects of the crystal report. The attached image is what is being displayed when I view my report on a view.

Horizontal Scrollbar not fully displayed in report window

I have a report (using SSRS 2005) which displays both the vertical scrollbar and horizontal scrollbar.  The report has lots of columns. The problem is that the horizontal scrollbar is only half displayed (height wise).  I've tried resizing the report window but it doesn't change how much of the horizontal scrollbar is displayed. I've tried playing with the report settings (margins, body size, etc) but can't seem to get the entire horizontal scrollbar to be visible.  The users don't like this because the viewable part is hard to grab onto to scroll. How do I fix this? Thanks, John

Change row values in report before rendering

I have a detail section in report. I am perfectly able to retrieve all the data from the Sharepoint List into datatable and bind it, to generate reports inside the details section.
All the columns and related row data are getting displayed as reports in to the detail section.
But, my issue is, I want to change the row data for a particular column before rendering on to the report.

for instace, if column named Product has some values, I would like to display these values with different string name based on a switch condition. How do I achieve this?

Determine the Current Report Rendering Format

I have several reports in SSRS 2005 (SharePoint Integrated Mode) that have Jump to URL navigation links.  The links were working intermittently, and the fix I implemented was to use a Javascript window.open command for the links, and it worked.  However, now the links do not work when the reports are exported to Excel because it doesn't support Javascript.  I'm trying to satisfy the users' requirements of having the links work regardless of how the report is rendered.  Is there a way that I can use custom code to determine the current URL (with query string parameters) so that I can parse it to determine whether the report is currently being rendered as HTML, Excel, PDF, etc.?  If not through parsing the URL, is there another way to go about this that I'm missing?

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Report parameter values must be specified before the report can be displayed. Choose parameter value

Helllo...I am getting error "Report parameter values must be specified before the report can be displayed. Choose parameter values in the parameters area and click the Apply button." when I deploy the report in the SharePoint. The report works fine in the when I run in BIDS. we have two parameter in this report...Parameter #1 is tied filterd based on the user who is accessing the report and Parameter #2 is dependent on the value selected in Parameter #1.

Please let me know what I am doing wrong here? Is there any workaround to get past this message?

Thanks for help.

Large Dataset Downloaded Before Rendering Report's First Page

Greetings,

I'm hoping to understand the behavior of SSRS a bit better in the following scenario (SSRS 2008).  A single matrix (tablix) exists on the report.  No other objects are on the report.  That matrix is populated with 1.1 million rows of data totaling about 200MB.  Why does SSRS download the entire dataset prior to rendering the report's first page or am I missing something here?

When previewing the report, the local .data file bloats to 200MB indicating all dataset rows are being returned.  The matrix does not contain any sorting, all cell "can grow" and "can shrink" properties are set to false, no expressions are used anywhere, and even the table's column data types from which the data is being pulled are appropriate.  In other words, I believe I've reduced storage and CPU needs while eliminating elements that add overhead when rendering a report.

The specific scenario here is a researcher previewing the first few pages of data then choosing to download the entire dataset.  MS documentation I've read refers to "soft page breaks" when rendering as HTML and left me with the impression that perhaps SSRS needs to know the entire height of the dataset before it'll slice the report into pages.  It's odd to me though that it needs to download 1.1 millions rows of data befor

Rendering a report using web services with 2008 R2 (ReportService2010)

I'm going bonkers trying to use the reporting service web service deployed with 2008 R2. None of the code examples I've found online will work with ReportServer2010. It looks like many of the classes and methods that appear online refer to earlier incarnations of the web service.

Can anyone direct me to an example that demonstrates how to render a report using ReportServer2010? I need to render the report (in TIFF at 300ppi) to a file.

I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and C# although I can drop back to VS2008 or switch to VB.NET if required.

Thank you!

Table rendering Bug: Setting Background color for SSRS report (RDLC)

Hi,

I am facing the issue while trying to create a Report Definition Language Client-side (RDLC) report. I want to set background color to the textbox (used in table) depending on the value. I have used conditional formatting to achieve this. But i am facing issue in setting background color for Some of  the fields like

  1. EnduranceYoYo
  2. Endurance5MinRun

The General Format of the Conditional format is

=iif(<Varchar Field>.value="NA",Gray.iif(<Integer Field> < 600,"Red",iif(<Integer Field> >=800,"Green","Gold")))

I have used this conditional formatting in Textbox (Properties) --> Background (Expressions)

I have tried the following options to rectify the issue

Option 1 :

This is the format i have used in Conditional formatting in Expression (In Textbox properties -- background -- Expressio

SSRS Reporting Services issue with Rendering Report.

I have created a report that has a tablix with a single cell.  The tablix is set to a dataset that has multiple records, and for each record I am running another subreport inside the tablix cell.  I have the subreport creating a page break for each record, and when printed out the report is perfect, but in the interactive rendering mode with the SSRS Web Viewer, one of my pages comes out blank except for the header being present.

It is not adding an extra page, because in the print out that particular page is rendered with the correct data, but in the interactive mode it is completly missing.

I would appriciate any advice someone might have.

Thanks in advance.

Rendering ASP.NET Script References into the Html Header

One thing that I've come to appreciate in control development in ASP.NET that use JavaScript is the ability to have more control over script and script include placement than ASP.NET provides natively. Specifically in ASP.NET you can use either the ClientScriptManager or ScriptManager to embed scripts and script references into pages via code.
