Unable to set "column settings" of Yes/No (Check Box) values "Required, Optional, Hidden" of content

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi, SharePoint 2010 and I have created a number of site columns of type Yes/No (check box). I have created a number of content types and used these column types but when I try to change the column setting within the content type to "Required, Optional or Hidden" I am unable as the settings are greyed out and I am unable to change them.

Even in the Parent content type I am unable to change this particular type of column value so it isn't an inheritence setting as it's the parent content type. Am I doing something wrong?

Note - I am recreating a list from a SharePoint 2007 site and I am able to change the setting here, have i configured this incorrectly or was this something that could be done in SP 2007 but not SP 2010.

Thanks fo any help.

 DataTable dtResult1 = dsSearch.Tables["RESULTSET"];

The issue is in the DataTable dtField i can only see 3 columns FieldID,Name,HIT_ID

"Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content"

Our search is not working. The crawl log indicates following error: "Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content. (The item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.)".

If I check the event viewer, it indicates following error: "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. [CLIENT: <local machine>]"

My default content access account is another one than this NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE account. The content access account password is correct. Apparently this content access account is translated to the NETWORK SERVICE account upon a crawl. And this network service account doesn't has the appropriate rights on database level. How can I fix this?

Unable to Check In Publishing Page

I am running into an issue with a custom page layout that I have created.  On this page layout I have a publishing html field, publishing image field, and a publishing summary links field.  The problem is when I check-in the publishing page as a draft the content in the publishing HTML fields does NOT save and redirects me to the root page in that web. I then checked the SharePoint ULS logs and found the following error. Time: 09/03/2010 11:47:20:18 Process: w3wp.exe (0x1248) TID: 0x0C5C Area: CMS Category: Publishing Cache EventID: 98ee Level: High Description: Trying to store a checked out item (/EN-US/MEDICALPRODUCTS/PAGES/646.ASPX) in the object cache.  This may be because the checked out user is accessing the page, or it could be that the SharePoint system account has the item checked out.  To improve performance, you should set the portalsuperuseraccount property on the web application.  See the documentation for more information. I have tried to find more answers on the web but have been unsuccessful so far.  Has anybody seen this error before or got any possible ideas to try?  Thanks in advance for any help. Craig

Unable to edit wiki content

Few users who have the full control permissions inherited from the top site are able to create a wiki site (as expected), but when they try to edit the wiki content on the page of the newly created site, they get a permission error (unexpected).  Not all users have this problem.  Another user who belong to  the same people group is able to edit the page without any problem (wierd).  Given below is the error message You are not authorized to view this page You do not have permission to view this directory or page due to the access control list (ACL) that is configured for this resource on the Web server Please try the following: Contact the web administrator if you believe you should be able to  view this directory or page.   Unfortunately, I am that web admin.  No clue what could be wrong.  Please advise. We are using MOSS 2007 single server installation on windows 2003 server SP2 enterprise edition with SQL server 2005 as back-end. Authentication Type: Windows IIS Authentication setting: integrated Windows authentication - NTLM Anonymous access - disabled. Thanks.

Unable to attach a custom SharePoint Workflow to a Content Type

I am working with SharePoint Server 2010 Beta 2, Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate RC and SharePoint Designer 2010 Beta.

I built a custom Content Type based on the Item type with a few custom site columns. I also have built a custom Sequential Workflow using Visual Studio 2010. This is a relatively simple workflow that creates a task, waits for the task to complete, sets the workflow to complete. I am able to deploy this workflow to the site collection through VS 2010.

The problem I have is that when I try to associate my custom Content Type with my custom workflow, that workflow is not listed in the workflow templates to select. There are only the OOTB SharePoint workflows to choose. However, if I create a list and associate a workflow to that list, my custom workflow is listed in the workflow template list.

This makes sense since at the start of building a custom workflow in VS2010, one of the first questions is whether the workflow is a Site or a List workflow and I selected List.

I did a little research and found some who wrote that Reusable Workflows may be attached to Content Types.  In VS2010, there is no option to build a Reusable Workflow.  That is only possible in SharePoint Designer.  However, it is possible to import a SPD workflow into VS, so I tried that.  Imported the WSP into VS201

Default Content Approval Workflow not firing after Check-In from Office 2007

I have created an Approval Workflow for a Document Library and assigned it as the Default Content Approval Workflow (in the UI: Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item).

If, through the SharePoint web interface, I "Check-In" and select a Major Version (e.g. 1.0) or I "Publish a Major Version", this workflow is initiated as one would expect.

However, if through Microsoft Office 2007 (e.g. Word) I Check-In the document as a Major Version (e.g. 1.0) it does NOT initiate the workflow. It DOES set the Document Status to Pending but does NOT initiate the Approval workflow. It then becomes necessary to "Cancel [the] Approval" in the GUI and re-Publish it in order for the workflow to be initiated. This is crazy! Microsoft have achieved fantastic results with their Office integration, why hasn't the initiation of the Default Content Approval Workflow been included?

Can anybody replicate this? What is the correct channel for reporting this to Microsoft? Has anybody else discovered this and found a solution?

I can't believe SharePoint has been used as a Document Management System and nobody else has discovered this flaw?

Copy a doc accross with values from its content type

I have a workflow automation to copy a document from 1 site to the other . It works fine using the SPFile object. My concern
is the doc that is being copied from is a content type called Content1. Now how do I copy the content type values accross to the new area after the arrow sign ?

            // Source Site
            SPSite SourceSiteSP = new SPSite(SourceSite);
            SPWeb web = SourceSiteSP.OpenWeb();

            SPWeb SourceWeb = SourceSiteSP.OpenWeb();
            SourceWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
            SPList lib1 = (SPDocumentLibrary)SourceWeb.Lists[subSite];
            lib1.ContentTypesEnabled = true;

            // Destination Site
            SPSite DestinationSiteSP = new SPSite(DestinationSite);

Calendar newform.aspx multiple content types and default values.

SharePoint 2010 provides some new features on Calander views (of the OOTB calendar list). You can select a portion of the day and click "new event" directly in the calendar. This will take the selected startdate/time and enddate/time and prefill this in the newform. When you enable Group Planning on the calendar it will also take the user (of the selected calendar) and prefill it in the newform as well. Very nice.

I have created multiple content types on the OOTB calendar and would like the give the user a intinuitive UI of selecting the correct content type. The idea is as follows. The user selects a portion of the day, and click "new event" directly from the calendar. The user is taken to a custom page where he can select the desired content type and is then taken to the new form of the selected content type.

Now I'd like to take the values selected by the user (eventdate, enddate and user) and use them to create links to the newforms of the different content types. In Moss 2007 the selected values (startdate and starttime) were passed with the Querystring, which prefilled the newform. But in SharePoint 2010 these values are passed in some other way (javascript?)

How can i get these values (eventdate, enddate and user) and create multiple links with these values, which will pass them to a newform of the

Unable to edit and check out document in Sharepoint 2007

I am unable to edit document in SharePoint, and hit error with a message “The document could not be opened for editing. A Windows SharePoint Services compatible application could not be found to edit the document”.

When I try to check out a document it hits error with the message “object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Do you have any idea on these issues? As in the development server, I am able to check out and edit documents.
