Install Error -- The install in progress conflicts with a previous installed MS Office 2010 Server P

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Working on a development image in Hyper-V.  This image had never had any beta installed of any product.  Had SharePoint Server 2010 and Office Web Apps installed but another installation of another product messed up IIS settings.  It was easier to just uninstall both and start again.  I uninstalled both fine but now when I try to reinstall SharePoint I get an error message saying:

"The install install in progress conflicts with a previous installed Microsft Office 2010 Server Product"

I have done multiple reboots, manually deleted the SharePoint folders on the machine and run CC Cleaner.  Still I get this error.

I even tried the advice suggsted in this blog post: http://blogs.technet.com/chad/archive/2010/04/28/Installing-SharePoint-2010-RTM-Over-Previous-Versions.aspx even though I never had beta installed.

Anyone have anythoughts?

Cannot install Sharepoint Server 2010 "A previous installation has been detected with a license type

I'm trying to upgrade to Team Foundation Server 2010 and Project Server 2010. After getting TFS 2010 and Project Server 2007 to work with WSS 3.0, I started upgrade to Project Server 2010 which requires update to Sharepoint Server 2010 Enterprise. I installed pre-requisites and run "stsadm -o preupgradecheck" which passed everything. When I tried to run the installation I get Setup Warning "A previous installation has been detected with a license type that does not match the install in progress". I thought that my trial licence for Project Server 2007 stopped this so I completely uninstalled WSS 3.0 and restarted the server but the installation still stops with Upgrade window. Any ideas? Office 2010 Web Applications Install Error

We have a SharePoint 2010 Server setup in a farm configuration with a SQL 2008R2 clustered back-end that we are attempting to install Office Web Applications on.  We are following the technet article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687.aspx#bkmk_ins_exis_farm.  When we attempt to install the Office Web Applications on the SharePoint 2010 server (logged in as a member of the Administrators/farm admins) the progress bar completes and then displays the error "Microsoft Office Web Apps encountered an error during setup".  Looking through the Wac Server Setup.log file that setup generates doesn't yield much or any clues as to what is failing (it's lengthy and appears to just be detailing applications of a variety of languages installing and then rolling back).  The event logs are also filled with messages about the various Web Apps installing in a variety of languages and then rolling back when setup fails.  The only MsiInstaller event in the event logs that looks of any consequence is: "Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Microsoft Office Web Apps Application Server Components. Product Version: 14.0.4763.1000. Product Language: 0. Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation. Installation success or error status: 1603." Does anyone have any experience with this issue or any suggestions/guidance?

Does Word Automation Services require Office 2010 install on server to function?

Subject is the question.

My requirements are to "maintain existing functionality with current version of a windows service running on Server 2003 and automating Word through COM."   I.E. All the stuff that breaks when you upgrade the OS to Server 2008.

My customer has already rejected several third party alternatives as "not being accurate enough"  The rendered PDF doesn't match what comes out of Word when compared with an electron microscope.

So now I'm investigating using Word Automation Services and Sharepoint 2010.   Got my development server functional with Sharepoint 2010 and Visual Studio 2010.  But my first attempts at creating rendering jobs is failing with an "ArgumentNullException" in deep inside a method I'm 100.0% sure I'm NOT passing any NULL's to.

My VM is low on space so I figure I'd save time by asking for a conclusive answer before I make room / install Office.

Can you install SharePoint 2010 and User PerformancePoint in a single server enviroment?

Hi I Installed SharePoint 2010 in a single server farm and I configured a Performance Point service aplication. Whenever I run dashboard designer it seems to work but it eventually crashes. I don´t know if I have any configuration errors. I read this Run the Secure Store Service on a separate application server that is not used for any other service. Create the secure store database on a separate application server running SQL Server. Do not use the same SQL Server installation that contains content databases. Here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee806889.aspx I believe this service is necesary to run connect to data sources does this mean it all cannot be run in the same server.

Purpose of initial "site" in SharePoint Server 2010 Express Install

I’m installing Search Server 2010 Express using “Farm” mode. After the SharePoint Configuration Wizard completes, and selecting  the SharePoint config wizard, one needs to create a website. What is that site intended for? Is it for the Search Center itself? (If so, then I better select the Enterprise – “Basic Search Center" template. If it is intended for a "normal" top level site, then I will create a new Search site in its own web app). TIA, Barkingdog

Silent install of SQL Server 2005 fails when SQL Server 2008 is installed

We currently install SQL Server 2005 Express silently during our installation, using the following switches

We also attach a 2005-created database immediately after using the following command line (^ is a path concat operator in Installshield):

sqlcmd.exe -S .\\SQLEXPRESS -E -i \"" + svConfigPath ^ "SetupUapDB.sql\" -vmdfpath=\"" + svConfigPath ^ "UapCfg.mdf\" -vldfpath=\"" + svConfigPath ^ "UapCfg_log.ldf\" -o \"" + svConfigPath ^ "SqlCreateDB.txt\" -e

Note that we do not specify an instance name.  We ran into a situation where someone had installed SQL Server 2008 on a box using a default instance name and our install then failed.  I am considering 2 possible fixes, and have questions for both.

Fix #1: Specify an instance name.  Ideally this would install SQL Server 2005 Express side by side with SQL Server 2008, create a unique instance name and we'd be good to go right?  If yes, what is the accepted convention for specifying instance names?

Fix #2: Not sure if this is possible.  Can we detect if SQL Server 2008 is on the box, and if yes, apply our 2005 database to it instead?  In this case (tell me

SQL Server 2008 Install Error (February CTP)

When I try installing the SQL Server 2008 Feb CTP on Windows Vista (Ultimate SP1) on VMware Fusion (using setup in the servers folder) I get (after .NET 3.5 has installed) the error

"Setup has encountered the following error:

Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed.. "

The hostname in cmd.exe is WIN-FG6V4XSWVPA

Has anyone else had this? Has anyone found a fix?

Setup log is:

Package results:
  Failed: see details below

Execution statistics:

Exit message:                  Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed.
  Package start time:            03/17/2008 14:53:03

Had same issue after (virtual) computer name changed to FUSE and restarted.

How can I install Features into the Sharepoint 2010 Server Standard after the install?

I have installed SharePoint Server 2010 Standard. We are testing the functionality of the new system and what it can do. I got an upgraded copy of the HelpDesk and Knowledge Base Templates (Part of the Fab 40) from http://techsolutions.net/Blog/tabid/65/EntryId/17/Fab-40-Templates-for-MOSS-2010.aspx. They seem to be good, but there is a feature that is in the Server that is not installed that I need to be able to get both of these working.

The feature is: Web Analytics Customize Reports functionality (Display Name: WACustomReports).

I need to be able to get this feature installed and activated so that I can use these 2 templates. Is there someone that can help me with this issue?

NOTE: I have tried to use the command line for SharePoint Power Shell. It is not working. The files that it is looking for are not on the HDD where they should be.

Microsoft SharePoint server 2010 encountered an error during setup. One or more required office comp

I am encountering this error during setup. The server previously had WSS 3.0 and the Group Board Workspace. I uninstalled those and installed sharepoint foundation 2010. Initially It was up and running but I was receiving errors trying to load the group space template, so I uninstalled SPF2010. cleaned up the registry pointers to the old WSS3.0 and Groupboard Workspace and tried to reinstall. Now I get the error

Microsoft SharePoint server 2010 encountered an error during setup. One or more required office components failed to complete successfully.

Looking into the issue it appears that setup cannot install the embedded sql server, since the logs indicate a dbwrap error. There are no "pendingfilerename" operations which fixed this problem for some. I tried to install as a farm but it won't allow me to use a local admin account.  I also looked at the sql configurations and the windows internal database is running.

Any ideas how to I can remove the windows internal database and reinstall SF2010?

SQL Server 2005 will NOT install! 1603 error!

Greetings! I have no idea where to post this, but I thought maybe someone here could aid me! I'm nearly ready to throw my computer out the window.

I am attempting to get Bioware's Dragon Age"Origins toolset to function, but it requires SQL Server 2005. But every time I attempt to install it, I get a critical error.

I am running Framework .NET 2.0, Service Pack 3, and an OS of Windows XP. I have tried installing them all and reinstalling, to no avail. I also checked to make sure I have permissions on the folders [ to the best of my limited knowledge ].

Here is the log.
