Update all Properties in the User Information List after restoring a site collection to a new domain

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

hi All

I moved a site collection (content db) from one domain to another. After the site collection was restored i ran the stsadm -o migrateuser -oldlogin -newlogin. The result was that the login id of the user in the source domain was replaced with the login in the destination domain.

However the rest of the properties in the User Information List (paricularly interested in the Email) was not updated.

How can i get all the properties in the User Information List with values in the new domain

Thanks in Advance

Designer Workflow: update list in another site within collection?

Is it possible with a Designer 2007 created workflow to update an list in another site within the same collection?  I don't see a way to do that and am wondering if I am missing something.
There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

User Alert Management for a specific list versus entire SharePoint site?

It seems that to be able to manage User Alerts, one must have Full Access to the entire SharePoint site - and then use => Site Settings > User Alerts. Ideally, I would like to be able to grant access to users to only be able to manage alerts for a specific list. Is this possible (without having to do any programming) and, if so, how? If such access is only available at the site level, I will simply create a Permission Level that allows one to only "Manage Alerts" Thanks in advance for any assistance. Dave

How to get the list of all Site Collections that a user has access to

Hi All, Whats the best way to get the list of all Site Collections that a user has access to, under a particular Web Application? I have about 20-30 site collectiosn under the same WebApplication, and iterating through all of them for checking if the user has permissions is a bit performance expensive. Is there any other way of doing it?  Manesh K

SOLUTION: Renaming the Title list column globally across the site collection

So, you screwed up like I did, and modified the Title display name of the Item base content type and it has renamed ows_Title across every list in your site collection? Here's how you fix it: //WARNING //If you have come this far, be aware that this tool is a blunt axe. With it, you can cause //all sorts of mayhem and chaos in your site collection. So, to use this, you must be desperate. //or possibly dumb. Apparently, I'm just as dumb as you, because I did it. This is why I wrote //this stupid thing, so stupid people like us can go right on being stupid. //Your choice of weapon in this battle amuses me. Shall we begin? using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text; using Microsoft.SharePoint;   namespace RenameField {     class Program     {         static void Main(string[] args)         {             if (args.Length < 3)             {                 Console.WriteLine("Usage: RenameField <url-to-sitecollection> <internal-field-name> <new-fieldtitle>");               &n

Restoring from Site Collection Recycle Bin - Item Added

When I restore a list item from the normal recycle bin I can access the item using properties.ListItem. However, when restoring from the Site Collection recycle bin, the listitem is null?! Ok, I thought, the SPItemEventProperties object I have also provides me with WebUrl, ListId and ListItemId so I can spin up a new SPSite with WebUrl, use openweb to get my SPWeb, use ListId to get the correct list and then the ListItemId to get the item. A bit long winded but should get me where I need to be. This would be ok, but at runtime I got an exception list not found. On investigation it seems the WebUrl property is wrong. I've run this on a few different lists/sites and it is consistently wrong! The value I'm seeing is http://[webapp]/sites/[sitecol]/sites/[sitecol]/[web]. Note the repitition of /sites/[sitecol]?! This is really frustrating and very poor. So not only is the ListItem property null(?), but there is no easy way to get the list item manually! Does anyone else see this behaviour? Sharepoint is really testing my sanity this week!

update item in list by workflow on list in other site

is it possible to update/insert item in the list of other site (other then the site on which workflow is running)?

Please advice.

Create workflow to create list item in calendar list of a DIFFERENT site collection

I work for a school district.  Each school has a SharePoint calendar.  We set up each school as its own site collection.  I would like to create a workflow that would send their calendar events to a district calendar, which is also its own site collection.

Example,  School A enters creates a new item on their personal school calendar.  They click YES in the column called SendToDistrictCalendar.  The workflow would be triggered to create this same item in the district calendar (which is in a different site collection) when SendToDistrictCalendar is checked YES.

We're using Windows Server 2003 with Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

I am a mid-level SharePoint user.  I would appreciate ANY and ALL help to make this work!!

Not able to add all users from other trusted Domain to site collection

The environment consists of a one-way trust relationship, I have no problems adding users from the local domain, however I can only add a few select users from the domain that the trust is setup for. This appears to be the case for only one site collection, as a previous site collection can authenticate to and add users from this other trusted domain.

I have checked the following article in order to authenticate objects in the other trusted domain, but it appears to have not helped.

What steps should I verify so that I can add users to given stie collections?

ASP.NetWindows Application  .NET Framework  C#  VB.Net  ADO.Net
Sql Server  SharePoint  Silverlight  Others  All
