SharePoint 2007 feature deployment in a load balancing environment

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I'm looking for information to know how to deploy a Sharepoint 2007 solution (via WSP) in a load balancing environment.  Is it possible to isolate one server at a time.

Word 2010 crashes everytime I try to load a doc from SharePoint 2007.

Every time I try to load a doc from our sharepoint site, Word stops working and crashes.  I have repaired Office from Programs and Features, I have renamed the WWLIB.DLL as bad and then repairec again (It came back) and I can not find a dupolicate version of the owssupp.dll file.  In fact the only file in the Office 11 is the UCSribe.dll and it is not duplicated in the Office 14 folder.  The Event viewer gives this error Faulting application name: WINWORD.EXE, version: 14.0.4734.1000, time stamp: 0x4b58fb0e Faulting module name: wwlib.dll, version: 14.0.4734.1000, time stamp: 0x4b58fba1 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00612406 Faulting process id: 0xc98 Faulting application start time: 0x01cb5110726d8727 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD.EXE Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\wwlib.dll Report Id: b4600a6b-bd03-11df-988f-463500000031   Does anybody have a solution for me? Host-named site collections and content deployment jobs (SharePoint 2007 Internet facing Web Sites)

Hi.

I have an editing web application with multiple site collections (only accessible internally on a dedicated port), and I've one public facing web application (on port 80). Now I want to create several host-named site collections in the public facing web application (to limit the number of web apps in the farm), and then use content deployment jobs to push the content from the site collections on the editing web app into these host-named site collections.

Does anyone have any experience with this?
Do you see any issues?

Regards,
Frode

SharePoint 2007 Content Deployment Word Document URLs being changed

We created an application that leverages on SPExport and SPImport.

We noticed that when we export/import site, the links on the word documents pointing to same application on the target site seems to get truncated url, the url parameters (ie ?param1=a&param2=b) are truncated.

also the host header seems to get updated ie(http://my.shop.com/path1/path2 turns to like (http://hostheader/path1/path2) which is causing broken links.

need some help/advice/ suggestion.

Thanks a lot

Load Balancing WSS WFEs (2007)

I have a CentralAdminServer which hosts an application, which users use and can navigate to at http://server/site.  I added an application server to the farm to support the application; users cannot browse to this because it is purely an application server.  I want to add a WFE on http://server2 so that users can browse to the application as http://server2/site.  Instead of using AAM, I want to use a load balancer.

If I add a WFE to this configuration (as stated previously), can I simply add http://server/site and http://server2/site to the load balancer?  And then add the Load Balanced URL to the application settings in central admin?

I shouldnt have to set AAM, right?  The load balancer will determine where the requests go and then the application will determine which app server to use, correct?

Thanks!

How to make Custom SharePoint 2010 Webpart work on MOSS 2007 Environment

H

I've built a SharePoint WebPart in SharePoint 2010, using SharePoint Assembly version 14.0.0.0. Now i've to make this Webpart such that i should work on SharePoint 2010 and MOSS 2007. The version no for both the versions are different, so do i need to create separate web-part for both version or is there any other way?

My current webpart is built in env, which has

SharePoint 2010, Windows 7 64 Bit, VS 2010.

Reference is added to SharePoint DLL which is in 14 Hive ISAPI.

How can i make this generic, so that i should work on both version, i've not used anything specific which is only in SP2010, its just a simple webpart.

Thanks

SharePoint 2010 Network Load Balancing and Kerberos Authentication

Hello all. Thanks for taking a look at this...

To put it simply, kind of, I have a SharePoint 2010 farm with 1 web application (non default port) using kerberos authentication with 2 load balanced web front end servers.

Example:
web01.domain.com:8090
web02.domain.com:8090
NLB = web.domain.com

The NLB is setup at web.domain.com (on port 80), as mentioned above, and directs traffic to either web server on port 8090.

Notes:
An SPN has been setup for the NLB url with the web applications service account.
Delegation has been setup on the web app account and the web servers.
I am not using host headers for this web app.
I have setup the useapppoolcredentials instead of disabling kernel mode in IIS7 (tried it with it disabled too)

I tried this just in case...Registered SPNs for both web servers, with and without port numbers, and with and without fqdns.

The Problem
Kerberos authentication will not work when the NLB is set at port 80. If I set the NLB to match the web application port, 8090, kerberos authentication works fine and all is well.

This may be an obvious issue, but i cant put my finger on what I am missing.

Simply put, i would just like to have the users type in web.domain.com (the NLB url) instead of having to put in web.dom

Write Custom WebParts for SharePoint 2007

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework. This tight integration enables the ASP.NET and SharePoint developer to do a number of things that previously weren't possible

Using SharePoint Search feature in ASP.Net Application

Integrating ASP.Net application in to MOSS 2007 to utilize SharePoint Enterprise Search Feature can be done by using Business Data Search.
