Send file as an email in work flow

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

My company works out of a SharePoint doc library to process orders.  Sometimes the orders need to be sent to another department.  The other departments need the files emailed to them. I only have access to SPD-07 - I would like to create a workflow something like:  If department = techservices, email file to techservices@email.com then delete the item.

Is this possible?

The other departments have SharePoint sites, but they are not in other sites (they are top level sites in the root as our dept is). I had thought if i could copy and move, but this is not an option unless it is in the same site.

Any help much appreciated!

Send a csv file by email without saving it first

The following code pulls data from a table writes it to a csv file and then prompts a user to open or save the file. What I need to do is pull the data to the csv file and send it to a predetermined email address, without prompting the user or saving it. How can I do this? Dim MySQL As String = "" MySQL = "SELECT TOP 1 * FROM [tblSurvey] ORDER BY SurveyID DESC" Dim MyConn As New SqlConnection(ConnectStr) Dim cmd As New SqlCommand _ (MySQL, MyConn) 'Set the appropriate ContentType. Dim filename As String = "Data_" & txtName.Text & "_" & System.DateTime.Now & ".txt" cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text cmd.Connection.Open() Dim myReader As SqlDataReader = _ cmd.ExecuteReader _ (CommandBehavior.CloseConnection) Dim i As Integer Dim sb As New System.Text.StringBuilder For i = 0 To myReader.FieldCount - 1 If i < (myReader.FieldCount - 1) Then sb.Append(myReader.GetName(i) & Chr(9)) Else sb.Append(myReader.GetName(i) & vbCrLf) End If Next While myReader.Read() For i = 0 To myReader.FieldC

Send Email with HTTP file attachment - Workflow is sending garbage in attachment

I'm having an issue with a customized workflow when I send an email with an attachment. I am using the "send email with http file attachment" that I have downloaded from CodePlex. Unfortunately all attachments that come through are full of garbage. This includes .jpg, .pdf, and .txt. From what I can tell with the .txt file is that its contents has been replaced with what appears to be the html of the list page. Both the .jpg and .pdf fail to open complaining about corrupt documents. All documents can be opened fine from within sharepoint.

Can anyone of you guide me in this regard, as rest of my  workflow logic is working fine but this attachment issue is ruining the end result.

Send email when downloading a file from a document library

I'm setting up a public facing SharePoint site for my company, a software house (did I show my age by calling it that?). We're wanting to put together a list of of software downloads, each item on the list having configured permissions for different groups (such as Group A can see downloads 1 thru 3, Group B can see items 1- 5, and Group C can see all 10 items)

When a logged in group member downloads the file (Send To > Download a copy) or by clicking the litem name, I want to send that person an email, which will contain setup instructions and unlock passwords, etc.

How can this be done?

I've googled and googled, but not been able to find any clues, which is a little unnerving.

A true software developer is one who, when told to 'Go to Hell', sees the 'go to', rather than the destination, as harmful.

Send Email from SQL Server Express Using a CLR Stored Procedure

One of the nice things about SQL Server is the ability to send email using T-SQL. The downside is that this functionality does not exist in SQL Server Express. In this tip I will show you how to build a basic CLR stored procedure to send email messages from SQL Server Express, although this same technique could be used for any version of SQL Server.

If you have not yet built a CLR stored procedure, please refer to this tip for what needs to be done for the initial setup.

Sending a File Using Email Helper in WebPages/Razor

Note: This is particularly with respect to Email Helper in WebPages/Razor. Please don't post links using System.Net.Mail object.

Following this tutorial: http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/9-adding-email-to-your-website

Under "Sending a File Using Email" section what exactly is the code trying to do.

1: The SendFile.cshtml does not have any option to select file.

2: ProcessFile.cshtml is running fine. I am getting the email but no attachement.

I tried changing fileAttachment input to type="file" but not file is being sent to my email. I just get the message send in body.

Question: How exactly this file attachment works using Email Helper in WebPages.

How to send an email with information in query string

First I will say I googled (Binged to make Bill happy) for this but could not find anything, perhaps I am not stating what I need correctly;

I have a website that a customer creates orders (for a printing company) and after the order, I would like to email the customer a link to view the status of their order;

I need to send the CustomerID in the link so on the returning page if a CustomerID is detected in the querystring, I "auto login" the client and open the "Dashboard" for the order page for that customer.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to send the link and how to parse the querystring to get the values from the link;

Thank you if you can point me in the right direction.

Fax Services: Send Any Printable File From Your Program in Windows 2000

All versions of Windows 2000 have fax services built in, so sending faxes manually is as easy as setting fax options from the control panel. Faxes can also be sent programmatically in Windows 2000 using either COM Automation or the standard C API. The example in this article uses COM Automation with Visual Basic and MFC to programmatically manage faxing. The objects used for fax transmission, such as the FaxServer and FaxDoc objects, as well as their properties and methods, are explained. Because faxing of files you can't print can be problematic, this process is explained. Finally, this article implements a fax routing extension-a plug-in that exports standard functions and implements routing methods for processing received faxes.

Trying to send email using Sharepoint Designer 2007 workflow and email enabled list

I have a a list that recieves email. I have few fields that shows me the originator: "E-Mail From" and "E-Mail Sender".

I am trying to create a workflow that will generate an auto reply to the originator but the SPD fails to recognize the email address in these two fields. It's either truncating part of it or uses the html ( href=mailto:Demo@DemoSomething.com) in the To field.

Thank you,

I can't send email from workflow.

I’ve got strange problem. I’ve created workflow with Visual studio 2008 which works fine. If workflow create task user gets email with alert and it works  - user gets email.   The problem is that I would like to use Workflow component: “SendEmail” for some cases. And if I enter directly into component email address for field: “TO” the message will be delivered. But if I use simple code with the same email address for field ”TO” it doesn’t work (field TO is empty now).

How to send Viewers email alerts on approved items

I use the OOB Workflow approval to approve items in a document library. Once the items are approved I want to send out an email alert to a group of people with "read" access. The problem is that the email alerts don't fire. I even changed the alerts to fire on "All Changes", but still nothing coming through. I assume this is because of the workflow approval and perhaps that the event doesn't fire when an item gets published after approval?

But how can I get my readers to be notified of newly published (and approved) items? There must be a way of doing it?
