My company is adopting SQL backup via VSS. My SQL Servers are all Virtual Machines. The system folks will take image backup (via VSS) using the VMware technology. If I need the db from yesterday's backup, they'll have to restore the image to a temp VM and
I'll do the rest. Of course, usually the databases that qualify for this type of image backup are non-critical.
Question is how reliable is this VSS image backup (third party tool) as compared to the native SQL backup to bak files.
Can anyone please comment ?
