Scheduled subscription runs continously

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

We have SSRS 2005 enteprise edition and ran into an issue with a timed subscription running continously. At the same time we had a data load that backed up replication also. SSRS server is also a subscriber. The issue gets resolved as soon as IIS is reset on the SSRS server. Any and all help is appreciated.

Data Driven Subscription problem - sub runs slowly, has 40 errors out of 300, but report server trac

I have two report servers and a single separate SQL Server 2008 server hosting the data source database and the report server catalogues. There is a data driven subscription that runs off a sproc that returns 300 rows with email addresses for this report to be emailed to. The report itself contains around 30 subreports each with its own sproc to retrieve data. As the report is executing there are long pauses between the times when emails are actually sent out, and the subscription status will finally end with something like "Done: 300 processed of 300 total; 40 errors." I am not sure how to go about troubleshooting this problem. Details: I kicked it off at (say) 2:00 PM. Within 3 minutes in the report server execution log I saw 300 entries. There were exactly 300 people who should receive reports, so the master report should have executed 300 times and sent out 300 emails. So this looked good in the execution log. But when I checked report manager's status page for the subscription it was listed as processing 50 out of 300... Then all activity stopped, about 15 minutes some more reports started emailing out, and now I see there are around 590 rows in the execution log and maybe 97 emails sent out... Then finally I get a grand total of 846 rows in the execution log and a grand total of 260 of 300 emails sent out with 40 errors so 260+40=300 exactly. The time betw

Display Parameters in Scheduled Subscription Email

I have a scheduled report that runs in sharepoint. It is then email to me after it completes. I have a couple of subscription of the same report that run with different parameters. Is there a way to include the parameters in the email that is sent to me. The email that is sent is including my report as a .csn attachment. Thank you.

Subscription runs for some users, but not others

Some users are able to create a subscription, and it runs without issue. But, other users create a subscription, and get the following error when the subscription runs.

ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: AuthzInitializeContextFromSid: Win32 error: 5; possible reason - service account doesn't have rights to check domain user SIDs., Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: The report server has encountered a configuration error. ;

For 1 of the subscriptions that is getting the error, I am able to change the subscription owner to myself, then the subscription completes. Since the error references error code 5 (Access is denied), it seems like the subscription owner needs access to something, but I'm not sure what that could be.

What does the subscription owner need access to?

ASP.NET: Combine Web and Windows Services to Run Your ASP.NET Code at Scheduled Intervals

If you want to schedule ASP.NET tasks, one solution is to use a Web service to provide an interface to your ASP.NET application and build a Windows service that calls to it at scheduled intervals. Thus the ASP.NET application doesn't have to own the scheduling logic. Here the author shows how to schedule your ASP.NET tasks using a Windows service to initiate the Web service call because Windows services can start themselves when Windows boots up.

Is Conditional Subscription possible in SSRS 2005?

Hi Guys,

Is there a way to set up a subscription that will send e-mails based on the contents of a report? For example, I want to schedule a daily subscription that will only send an e-mail if the report contains data, otherwise it will do nothing for that day. i.e If the report has more than one row, it should send the mail otherwise it should not send the mail.....

Is it possible in SSRS 2005 or is there any other way to do it???

create Scheduled Task that auto send mails

hello every one

i bought a hosting plan that allows me to send about 500email/per hour

but my client wish to send about 2000 or 3000 email at a time

is there a way to split them and 500 email per a time automaticly without the need of reloging again every hour

my hosting plan doesn't allow me to create a sql jop or send mails via Sql Server.

any bright ideas ?

SSIS package Scheduled Job Not Running

I'm not sure which way to research this issue.. I have an SSIS package that we can run just fine manually. But, when we put it into a scheduled job, it won't run. The package is on the same system as the SQL Server (2005), but it does call for updates from tables on another SQL Server (2000) on another domain (trusted). So, I'm thinking this might be a permissions / security issue, but not sure where to start... The package ProtectionLevel is "don't save sensitive", but that didn't help. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. jill

Subscription scheduling

Currently I have 35 remote locations, each with a SQL Server, that all replicate (transactional) back to a data center as well as replication from the data center to each location.   Each remote location has approx 13 publications each with one subscription that all go to the data center. The data center has 3 sets of filtered publications (1 for each location) with one subscriber & 26 publications that each have 35 subscribers (to the remote locations) The SQL Server @ the data center is used very little for anything other than replication.  The SQL Server in the data center is used for a pass through & the data is replicated to the main office for queries/processing/etc. A questions has bee brought up about scheduling. What is the best practice when it comes to scheduling data to be replicated from the data center to the remote locations?? What is the best practice when it comes to scheduling data to be replicated from the remote locations to the data center?? Is there any documented white papers out there that I can use as a guide?? Currently most replication happens at X after the hour, where X is the location number (#3-#44). Does anyone have any suggestions?? AHIA, Larry....

The subscription status of the object could not be changed

Good day to all.. I have a problem. There are two sql servers with transactional replication Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP1) - 10.0.2531.0 (X64) Mar 29 2009 10:11:52 Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 5.2 <X64> (Build 3790: Service Pack 2) There was a table function without parameters, included in articles of publication. Then I had to change it with adding one parameter. I've changed it via alter function on the publisher. And then replication stopped with error message about invalid argument count in this function. I've decided to reinitialise subscribtion with new snapshot, but new snapshot can't be created ("The subscription status of the object could not be changed"). Then I've decided to drop this subscription and recreate it, but I can't drop it (same error - "The subscription status of the object could not be changed").. Dropping publication also was unsuccesfull. How I can repair replication now?

Merge Replication: Fails using Replication.SaveProperties when changing Subscription Info

I'm trying to use SQL Server/Compact Framework 3 Merge Replication functionality and am running into a problem when calling Replication.SaveProperties (using c#). I was hoping to get some clarification on whether its my interpretation on how things should work vs a coding problem. Basically, the Merge Replication seems to work as I can sync information between my handheld and server databases.  However, I've created a form on my handheld so that the user can change some synchronication settings (e.g. Publication or Publisher Name) and then save it.  What I've noticed is : 1) You can NOT call Replication.SaveProperties until after a synchronization is performed (otherwise you get an error message).  Assuming this is so that it can create the "__sysMergeSubscriptions" table. Does this sound right? 2) If I then try to change the saved Subscriber information via another call to Replication.SaveProperties (e.g. change the Publication info), I then get an error message that says: The subscription was not found. Publisher, PublisherDatabase, or Publication  could be incorrect. Is this normal behavior?  Does this mean that you can you NOT change subscriber information; only add or drop it? Thanks,  Ed

Sql Compact Subscription failure - Win 7 Ultimate 64 Bit Sql 2008 64 bit, Sql Ce 3.5 sp1

Greetings,  Testing sql compact subscription setup on a single machine.  Can NOT get the subscription to initialize.  This works without fail on server 2003, 32 bit, and IIS 6.  I think it is security but not sure.  Using web syncConfigured publication and web sync went fine.  Key secret here was using sqlce 3.5 sp1 tools. the http://localhost/sync/sqlcesa35.dll?diag works fineThe create snapshot works fineAdded the IUSR with db_owner rights to the primary database.Added the IUSR to the publication access list. The Agent is running, I checked that.Created a new sql ce db in the management studio and configured the subscription through the wizard, like I do all the time in sql 2005.It fails with the following error codes, which I suspect are security related.  Below is the setup for the subscription:Publisher: My-PCPublisherDatabase: MyDBPublication: MyDB_PUBSubscriber: 0024HostName: 0024InternetUrl: http://localhost/sync/sqlcesa35.dllWeb Server Authentication: AnonymousPublisherSecurityMode: Windows AuthenticationError Message below:2010/03/11 15:20:07 == SQLCESA Version ==> 3.5.5692.02010/03/11 15:20:07 Hr=00000000 SQLCE Server Agent Loaded - Version 3.5.5692.002010/03/11 15:20:17 Thread=4A0 RSCB=1 Command=SCHK Hr=80045637 ERR:Initialize failed for DistributorSessionID =  02010/03/11 15:20:17 Thread=4A0 RSCB=1 Command=SCHK Hr=8004

How to figure out if package runs in debug mode

Hi, I would like to know whether there is a possiblity to dynamically determine at runtime if a script is runing in debug mode or is being executed via SQL Server Agent? My goal is to prompt the user with some information e.g. initial catalog ensuring the package is being ran in the correct environment (development/production). However, as SQL Server Agent does not support MessageBoxes I would like to write some alternative code in this case. Thanks in advance!

SSRS integrated mode email subscription to AD dist group

I have MOSS 2007 running SQL 2008 SSRS integrated mode and have created some reports and report subscriptions. Everything is working great. Now I want to use an Active Directory Distribution Group as a recipient for a report subscription - does not work, however the "last results" show no error. Try again using Dist Group in TO: field but adding regular email in CC: field...only email in CC field receive report, again all successful. Does SSRS integrated mode support AD distribution groups? if so is there any special setup required? Thanks LmmMmmm...yummy...

Hi All, Using Merge Replication over the web (https). Server is running SQL Server 2008, client using SQL Server Express 2008. I am getting these error messages while trying to synchronize, and it won't let me sync: {call sp_MSensure_single_instance (N'{459D0BBA-53EC-4F65-AF52-E7DA478841DA}', 4)} Another merge agent for the subscription or subscriptions is running, or the server is working on a previous request by the same agent.
