Custom PipelineComponent getting input but gives no output

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Using the component results in a "SSIS.Pipeline: "component "Save" (292)" wrote 0 rows." but the input is 2903 rows.

While debugging it the buffer.NextRow() is called 2903 times and no exception is thrown. Am I missing something?

[DtsPipelineComponent(DisplayName = "Add Id", Description = "Add a new guid named Id.", ComponentType = ComponentType.Transform)]
  public sealed class AddId : PipelineComponent
    private int bufferColumnIndex;

    public override void ProvideComponentProperties()

      //ComponentMetaData.UsesDispositions = true;

      var myInput = ComponentMetaData.InputCollection.New();
      myInput.Name = "Input";
      myInput.ErrorRowDisposition = DTSRowDisposition.RD_FailComponent;

InfoPath: Turn User Input into XML with Custom Forms Using Office InfoPath 2003

Office InfoPath 2003 is a new Microsoft Office product that lets you design your own data collection forms that, when submitted, turn the user-entered data into XML for any XML-supporting process to use. With an InfoPath solution in place, you can convert all those commonly used paper forms into Microsoft Office-based forms and end the cycle of handwriting and reentering data into your systems. Today organizations are beginning to realize the value of the mountains of data they collect every day, how hard it is to access it, and are striving to mine it effectively. InfoPath will aid in the design of effective data collection systems. Here the author shows you how to get started.

How do you add duplicate fields to a SSRS custom report and receive differtent output values.

I have built a custom report in SSRS 2008 using fields for supplier and customer.   I have added a Parent Row Group using the Supplier field for the group expression and used the Customer Details as my child details group. This returns a list of all customers for each supplier.   (Supplier | = Customer details ( Name, Dob etc.)   How would I add an additional Supplier field to the customer details returning only values for other Suppliers used by a customer, not the value of the Supplier listed in the Parent Group?

Can you have a different input and output model in a view?

So here is what I would like to do. Lets say I have a view that can do multiple things, and thus talk to several different controllers. For example, it might create a new group, or change the name of an existing group, or add a user to some group. Now, for the view to display correctly, it would only need the username, a list of groups, and possibly a list of users. Yet for the controllers to work they would need a different set of information, the userid to be added to a group, the name of a new group, or the name and id of a group to edit.With this setup, there would be a potential of several different models for both input to the view, and output to the different controllers. I like the idea of using the helpers Html.Textboxfor() ect. to create the different submission elements, but I don't so much like the idea of having one giant model (Even if it just a model that inherits or has several sub models) that gets passed around everywhere for this view. It seems... clunky.Perhaps there is a better way to do this (if so, feel free to smacking me around with a few "Your and idiot"s) but is there any way to have a separate input and output model for a view?

Form input to output as a link on the display page (need help please)

 I have a form, the form works great and displays the information perfectly on a designated display page I have set up from its database.  One problem, I want to display it as a link to the site instead of how it is now, just plain text. Thus the user would put in the text box the site and hit submit and the site would appear of the display page.  Can anyone please assist me on this, and where to drop the hyperlink control? in the form page? or in the display page?    Below is my form code page:     <p><strong><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">International Access Entry      Form</font></strong></p><p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Please enter information      international contact information below. This if for authorized staff only.</font></p><table width="548" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="10" bgcolor="f0f0f0">  <tr>    <td width="528"><form name="INTL_Form" method="post" action="INTL-results.asp">      <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> </f

Making a program take both standard input and output from/to another program

I have an off-the-shelf program A.exe which reads from standard input and writes to standard output. How do I write a program B.exe that reads from program A and then respond to program A by writing to the standard input (of program A)? Piping (|) seems to be one way only. Thanks.

Script Component - Change One Row Input to Multiple Row Output

Hi All I am new to SSIS, and looking for help. I do not know if it is possible, but I like to try using the "Script Component" to change a input like this:   1234 1235 1236 ...   to and output like this:   1234, Value1 1235, Value2 1235, Value3 1235, Value4 1236, Value5 ...   Depending of the input value, 1 or more Rows are pushed out the Output, Like the value 1234 -> result in 1 Row in the output, where the value 1235 -> result in 3 rows in the output. Is this possible to do in a Script Component?? If it is how do you program such behavior? Do some good sources to learn SSIS exist out there?? I think it is not easy to find information. Exposing data contract without passing as input or output parameter for any operation contract

I have a method in  wcf which returns stream of custom object. I need to deserialize this stream at client side, but my custom class which is exposed as data contract is not visible through client proxy. When I add a dummy operation contract which returns the custome object I am able to get this custom class. I dont want to write this dummy method as there are many such custom classes.

Is there any way to expose data contract without writing any operation contract that returns or accepts data contract type object?

Beginner question: Passing the output of one Activity to the Input of another

Hi, I am brand new to WF so forgive what might be a simple question.

I am creating multiple activities which will execute in a sequence and pass data down the chain.  I know that one way to do this is to set a context variable in the parent Sequence from Activity A, and then read this value in Activity B (thus the output of A is effectively the input of B).

I'm fine using this technique, but if there is a way to directly declare that the input of Activity B should be the output of Activity A, I'd prefer this.  I'm intrigued by this comment in the new Activity template:

        // If your activity returns a value, derive from CodeActivity<TResult>
        // and return the value from the Execute method.

What is the point of returning a value from an Activity?  Can this return value be read somehow by the next Activity in the sequence?  I'd like to set the input of Activity B to the return value (output) of Activity A.  How would I do this?

Input and output parameters for stored procedures in VB.NET

I have several VB.NET functions which pass and receive values from executed stored procedures using parameters. However, the latest method I am using seems to be a little too specific on the datatype and data length of the parameters for my liking (i.e. LogActivityCommand.Parameters.Add("@strErrSource", SqlDbType.NVarChar, 300).Value = strErrSource). For example:

Public Function LogError(ByVal strErrSource As String, ByVal strErrCode As String, ByVal strErrDesc As String) As String
    Dim AerialConnection = New SqlConnection(System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("aerialConnectionString").ConnectionString)
    Dim RetVal As SqlParameter
        Dim LogActivityCommand = New SqlCommand("spLogError", AerialConnection)
        LogActivityCommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
        'Add input parameters
        LogActivityCommand.Parameters.Add("@strErrSource", SqlDbType.NVarChar, 300).Value = strErrSource &

Need to order stored procedure output based on custom order

*Read the whole question before you decide to send this to the chart forum

So here is what I am trying to do:

I have a chart in VB Express (vb.net) that obtains its data from a stored procedure in my SQL Express database. The chart is a stacked column chart and shows events on the X axis. What I need is these events to be displayed in a very specific order in my X Axis.

The problem:

I have been told that I cannot custom order this in the application, but rather I need to change my stored procedure output to get the events in the order I want. It was suggested to me that I should make a new table in my database that has the names of the events in 1 column and the order I want them in, in the other. Then use that to order my output in my stored procedure.

I do not care how I accomplish what I need to accomplish so long as I do indeed accomplish it. Here is some database structure to help you understand my database:

Table: Buyer

BuyerID (PK), ProjectID (FK), Status, Type

There are 12 different statuses, though my stored procedure doesn't know that. These 12 statuses need to be shown in a very specific order. My current stored procedure is as follows:

select Status as Status, Type as Type, count(BuyerID) as Value from Buyer WHERE projectID = @ProjectID AND Status IS NOT NULL AND Type IS NOT NULL GROUP BY Status,Ty

Using a CompareValidator to check input is a valid date

The CompareValidator can do more than just compare two controls. You can also compare it against several of the main .net data types such as Date, Integer, Double and Currency.

To do this you would set Operator="DataTypeCheck" and instead of setting the ControlToCompare or ValueToCompare attributes as you normally would you use the Type="Date" (or any of the data types I have listed above).

Custom Controls in C# .NET

Embedding user controls in a Windows form is just like adding a simple button or text box that are already provided with .NET. These basic controls were written essentially like you code your own controls. Typically the controls you design are to be used in multiple forms or to modularize your code. These reasons help reduce the amount of code you have to type as well as make it easier for you to change your implementation. There should almost never be any reason to duplicate code because it leaves a lot of room for bugs. So, implementing functionality specific to your control in the control's source code is a good idea. This reduces code duplication as well as modularize your code, which is a good programming guideline.

Writing custom MembershipProvider

ASP.NET Membership mechanism allows to use the build-in server tables to store and retrieve user data. By default, this mechanism can only be used with SQL Server database to which Microsoft provides suitable MembershipProvider class.
Inheriting from this abstract class, developer can use his own table(-es) from any database and use any database engine other than SQL Server, like Oracle, DB2 etc.

Custom Editing Behavior for DataGridView TextBox Columns

For various reasons I'm using a DataGridView instead of a ListView, and while configuring the DataGridView to look like a ListView wasn't much of a problem, there's one thing that got on my nerves, which is the behavior of textbox cells in edit mode: It is much too easy to leave the edit mode accidentally, simply by pressing the cursor keys at the wrong time. For example when the text caret is positioned behind the last character of the textbox cell content, and you press the right arrow key

Write Custom WebParts for SharePoint 2007

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework. This tight integration enables the ASP.NET and SharePoint developer to do a number of things that previously weren't possible
