Bing Maps Assemblies

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

I have just downloaded and installed the Bing Map Apps SDK. However there are 4 reference libraries:-

The problem I have is that all of the reference material I have seen refers to the Microsoft.Maps.Mapcontrol.dll assembly which isnt there. The *.Types assembly also doesn't appear to have the 'Map' class.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

How does one properly access AttributeExtensions from a Bing Maps Data Query Syndication Feed respon

I'm able to get the basic SyndicationFeed response from a Bing Maps QueryByArea call via WCF 3.5, however, the valuable entry data with EntityID, Latitude, Longitude etc. are not accessible (not even if I have a break point and inspect the Atom Feed responsde directly).  I just see an empty XmlSyndicationContent entry.

What do I need to do to be able to expose and access the properties in the "content" entity:

<content type="application/xml"><m:properties><d:EntityID>-8174</d:EntityID><d:Latitude m:type="Edm.Double">40.849513</d:Latitude><d:Longitude m:type="Edm.Double">-74.292831</d:Longitude><d:__Distance m:type="Edm.Double">2.72010344668636</d:__Distance></m:properties></content>

Here's a full response from Bing Maps (thanks to Fiddler2):

Image gallery with EXIF and Google maps?

I am trying to put together an image gallery display. I am guessing it will need to be a customer control but I am not sure.  So I figured I would ask on the best way to approach this. When the gallery is loaded I want to have one image displayed with thumbs underneath. On the right side I would like to display EXIF data and underneath that a small google map if there is geolocation tagged with the picture. I figure I will probably need to store the gallery info in a database with caption and description.  Maybe even searchable tags if I get cheeky later.

So should I be using an ajax gallery to display the images and if so how to pass the EXIF and geolocation to the other controls? Or do i pull in all the info into some sort of dataset and then parse it out to a custom control.  I am still fairly new to ASP but I have a fairly good understanding.  Should be an intersting project if nothing else.  Any thoughts.

HTTPS SSL Bing Searches in SharePoint 2007

I love the federation of Bing search results in our Search Center, but the content delivered via non-SSL connection pop-up is super annoying.
Is there a way to keep the Bing search federation, but have it use an SSL connection instead so that I don't get this error?

I tried to use Bing manually by visiting https://www.bing.com and I get redirected back to http://www.bing.com.

Run asp and ajax maps

My problem is that I want to use maps but I want to link areas of the map with a PopupControlExtender, I've tried but not working as it shows an error that says it has found no control, my question is whether it can work with and PopupControlExtender maps or if you have any suggestions on how to work with maps in welcome. The goal is that I wish to color codes to certain parts of the map, to be deployed to click a popup (PopupControlExtender) with information obtained from a database that already do with a PopupControlExtender ImageButton and without problems but I need to use maps in a second phase, I hope I have explained and I can help.

Thanks in advance.
