Expanding Recuring Events in a Calendar list

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi all,

I have a remote Web service that connects and queries a sharepoint site collection. One specific query is on a events list. Some of the events are recuring so I want these expanded so I can view the individual instances. I am aware that SPQuery is able to do this, but since this service is remote from the sharepoint server, I have been forced to use the Microsoft.Sharepoint.Client namespace to connect to the site collection.

Does anyone know how I can expand the recurring events without having to write my own code to parse the RecurrenceData field of the event item ?

Problem quering calendar list with recurring events

Hi guys,

I need to get all events from a list which are overlap with a range of time (StartDateTime - EndDateTime).

The problem is that recurring events has EventDate as the first day of recurence and EndDate 30 years later so absolutly all ranges of time get into any recurring period.

Is there a way to fix it?

Not able to see any events in outLook calendar which is integrated with WSS 3.0 Calendar List (User

When I click "Actions", "Connect to Outlook" it appears to work and even opens a calendar view.  The calendar is empty though (but the calendar on sharepoint does have entries).  I get the following error message from outlook:

"Task 'SharePoint' reported error (0x80070005) : 'You do not have permission to view this SharePoint List . Contact the SharePoint site administrator.  HTTP 302.'"

I am able to view the calendar in sharepoint, so I do have permission to view it.

Important events in a calendar

Hi all forum   I am using an asp calendar which mark the current day with a certain color. But I wish to extend this functionality. I wish to assign certain important events will happen in the future and highlight their days, and when the user clicks this certain day he will be directed to the page of the event. In other words If today is 7-9-2010 it is already highlighted in my calendar I wish to high-light  15-9-2010 cell and may write some tip with it  and when the user click on 15-9-2010 cell he will be directed to events.aspxalso How about binding it to a sql table containing events and the events diplayed highlighted. as if it is a gridview binding to a datasource and on its row command event some funtions will happen

Emailing Calendar Item to SharePoint List

I have followed the various instructions around the net (specifically the TechNet article) on configuring MOSS2007 and Exchange for mail enabling your lists. I have also read and applied the changes specified by the Microsoft KB regarding the two forgotten Active Directory entries. At this point I am able to send an email to a list and have the email post. Some of my users want to make use of the Email enabled Calendar List. They create a standard Calendar list and mail enable it. They give the list a unique name for Active Directory. They then goto Outlook and try "inviting an attendee" to an event and wait to see the event get posted on the SharePoint list. I have applied the KB edits to the new Active Directory user and I can watch the emails come into the dropbox and then disappear, but nothing ever happens. I have permissions setup correctly as well as far as giving "Authenticated Users" contribute access.... I don't see any errors specifically.... I do notice all my emails come in as .eml attachments... Any ideas of where to look?

Calendar overlay only works on list calendar in team site?

Currently, I have a site collection with a top-level site and 7 sub-sites (all on an equal level just below the top-level site). I have created a calendar at each site.  On the top-level site, I've used calendar overlay to add the 7 sub-site calendars to its calendar.  It works just great! But if I try and edit the main page of the top-level site to add that calendar as a list item on the page, or as a web part (rather than having the user have to click on the Calendar under the Lists in the Navigation) - the overlay doesn't show up on the calendar. Why won't it work when I edit the home page and try and add it a web part or as an "existing list"? I get no errors regarding this - it just doesn't work!  Frustrating!!! Thanks in advance!

Export to outlook calendar in a custom list?

Howdy, I have a custom list with a calendar view. I think it was originally created as a custom list rather than a straight-out calendar for reasons of functionality. However, obviously this, being only a list, doesn't have the "Export to outlook" or "Connect to outlook" feature. I can't really recreate the list from scratch because it's been used for quite a while with a lot of content and custom fields, so is there a way of adding this feature? Thanks, Clark.

Creating calendar view from tasks list programmatically

Hi All, I have a Tasks list of type "107" and I am trying to create a Calendar view for the tasks list. The way I created the calendar view is as follows: SPView calView = l.Views.Add("Calendar", l.GetView(l.DefaultView.ID).ViewFields.ToStringCollection(), string.Empty, (uint)100, true, false, SPViewCollection.SPViewType.Calendar, false);<br/><br/> I would like to specify the Time interval, Calendar columns, Default scope for this view. Can anyone point me to documentation for creating a calendar view from tasks list? Do I need to specify that in the viewquery? Thanks.

Possible bug: Calendar views browse month function not working when list is inserted as webpart.

Inserted a custom list with a calendar view on a page as webpart. Browse month function does not work, there is a postback but month is still the current month instead of the next or previous.

Is this a know issue/bug?

Add a New Item to a Custom Sharepoint List and Sharepoint Calendar from one Infopath form.

I am trying to create an infopath form for requesting time off.  Once the request is approved I want the form to add the event to a calendar on sharepoint.  I was able to do this using the article by S.Y.M. Wong-A-Ton at http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/programmatically-add-item-sharepoint-calendar-infopath.htm.  But I want the form to also add an item to a custom list that has the employees available time off stored on it.  That way the form can automatically subtract the time entered on the infopath form from what is available on the custom list.  I was able to do this using another article by S.Y.M. Wong-A-Ton at  http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/programmatically-add-rich-text-item-sharepoint-list-infopath.htm.  I can make both of these functions happen seperately but I need them to happen on the same Infopath form.  I am using Infopath and MOSS 2007.  I have tried to use 2 CAML receive data files and I treid to co

Calendar Day View - Location for all day events

How do you get the location to appear in the calendar for an all day event?  Right now, the only info that appears is the title, even though Location is the sub-heading chosen for the calendar columns in both week and day view (month view does not have a subheading choice).  I am unable to get any sub-headings to appear for all day events.

Thank you

Retrieve Calendar list as iCal and Contact list as vCard

I am writing a SharePoint solution to make it possible to export selected content from a site to a ZIP in standard formats. For calendars and contacts this should be iCal and vCard.

I found out that SharePoint has the build in ability to create these files for me, using the RPC Method DISPLAY. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms416599(v=office.12).aspx

This is the vCard example: /_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?CS=65001&Cmd=Display&CacheControl=1&List={9F2DC91F-691F-46B6-A882-09F1B111B50C}&ID=1&Using=%2FLists%2FExportContacts/vcard.vcf

This works like a charm, but I'm already on the server, so it's a bit of waste of resources the make a web-call for every contact I want to export.

owssvr.dll is a frontpage extension and not written in .NET so I can't see what code is called to transform a listitem to a vCard or iCal. Does anyone know which code is called and if I can call this directly from the server (without webcalls)?

I know I can write custom code (or find it on the internet) to do these exports, but I rather use the built-in technology if this is possible
