How to detect Mobile devices like Pocket PC??

Hi all,
Need help on this. As you know there is PDA-phone like Pocket PC-phone run on Window Mobile 2003 and above. It has Ms Internet Explorer of scale down version.

So, the question is this kind of device is under mobile device category but having IE browser. So, how to detect this kind of MObile device using MobileCapabilities class?  YOu see, SmartPhone also have Ms IE browser. How to tell them apart?? If I serve Pda-html website to SmartPhone, its screen size will be too small for it.

My objective is this : to detect the PDA device and Mobile Phone .

If it is PocketPC-phone, I will serve PDA-html website or Mobile web base on customer selection.
If it is smartphone or WAP 2.0 -base mobile phone, I will serve  Mobile Web.

SharePoint 2010 Mobile Page Filter Settings

hello, i want to know from where i can edit the mobile page "task" list filter settings ? thanks

Site Pages don't show up in mobile mode

In Site actions, I get the regular URL and the Mobile URL - - I've created several aspx pages with aspx controls on them. Two pages have dropdownlists, textboxes and gridviews. One just has a regular HTML table with aspx buttons, with postbackurls. Any list I create shows just fine, but none of the content in my aspx pages show up in mobile mode. I can get a list of the page names (with the extensions) when I click on 'view All Pages', however, when I click on the links, the content in the page does not show. What are we supposed to do for pages like these, for mobile mode?

SharePoint 2010 for Mobile - RSS Viewers Do Not Display as Links

I have an RSS feed from MSN on my SharePoint page.  Which works fine in a browser.  When I added ?mobile=1 at the end of the URL to emulate mobile view, RSS feeds appeared as text and not hyperlinks. Has anyone seen this before?  Is there a fix/configuration for this? Thank you.

Accessing a MOSS 2007 Site on Mobile devices

1) I am aware that simply adding a "/m" to the site URL gives me the mobile URL but it opens the _layouts/mobile/mbllists.aspx page instead of showing the site default.aspx page. I want the site to be accessible on mobile devices in the same way as through internet browsers. What is it that I need to do?

2) Can someone also tell me how does MOSS handle mobile requests i.e the underlying architecture?

Sharepoint 2010 - Mobile View - Whitespace

Hi There

Why does the source code of SharePoint 2010 pages contain so many whitespace blocks? Would it be possible to remove the whitespaces before the pages is rendered on the client-side, due to the fact that whitespaces within a page increases the size of the stream being sent to the client. This is fine for normal browsers but when rendering pages for a mobile device (SharePoint 2010 Mobile Views) you have to keep size, speed & other such factors in consideration.

Mobile page refuse some workflows to go ahead that published by Sarepoint designer 2010

The workflow refuse  to go ahead after operation when browsing the mobile page (...?mobile=1), but same workflow  by SPD (Collect data from user) is nunning well on the non mobile page (ASPX).

In mobile page, no "complete task" button. Only a "save" button.

Using it's "save" button, some modified can be saved in the page, but it's workflow not go ahead.

I tested "assign for approval" workflow by SPD on mobile page, same.

if you try "assign for feedbak" by SPD on mobilepage, it's oK. The workflow can go to it's end. Funny.

My wish:  The "Collect data from user" designed by SPD can go ahead when using the mobile page (...?mobile=1). My boss like to do it by mobile phone.

My environment:

Sharepoint server 2010

Sharepoint designer 2010

SQL 2008

Windows Server 2008

if using iPod tests it,  same as above.

Cannot connect 2010 Access 2010 Excel or PowerPivot to Mobile SQL(SQL Server Compact) - SDF files

I've believe I've installed everything to read Mobile SQL .SDF files.  I've insalled Sql Server Management Studio, Sql Server 2008 R2, .NET 4.0 Framework and just about everything else I've read to see the contents of an .SDF file created for what I read directly from these product sources as this DotNet Compact Framework is the greatest new SQL stuff on the planet.  I can connect using the Management Studio and see the TABLE Stucture easy enough and I can query using some simple SQL Commands from the Management Studio but what really bugs me is if this is all so wonderful, how come I cannot connect to what the SQL Server 2008 R2 Server type "SQL Server Compact" Authentication: "SQL Server Compact Authentication in Office 2010 Access, Excel or even "WOW" PowerPivot!  I've run across a couple 3rd party .SDF Readers - one that exports to Excel such as flyhoward.com  I'm growing old with all the work around import export stuff and just want to use PowerPivot to  excersise the data......or should I use something that actually works like Tableau??

Variations feature - Publishing sites on Mobile devices

I am doing some research on Variations for rendering our website on Mobile devices. Our current publishing site is not rendered properly on devices...

My questions is -

Is Variations a default/standard solution that people use for SharePoint Publishing sites on Mobile devices?

If yes, Please point me to an implementation that uses Variations for mobile devices specifically, or a guide on how to implement variations for mobile devices. All that Google gives me is for Multi-Language support.

If not, what other solutions are there for rendering SharePoint publishing sites on Mobile devices?

Thanks in advance.
