Infopath questions

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Ok, I'm working on a project which keeps getting increasingly more massive, and I have some questions, when responding, just number the answers how I number the questions, thanks!

1. Is there a way to have a text field auto-calculate userName the first time the form is viewed, then reload the same userName any subsequent times it is loaded, regardless of the user accessing it?

2. How would I make it so a day after a form is submitted, a field shows up? I know it would use rules, but what would the rule look like?

3. How do I get item-level permissions in sharepoint? I need it so a form is pretty much read-only for all users other than "admin" and the creator of the infopath file.

I appreciate any help offered.

InfoPath Filler Questions...

Hello.  I was wondering if someone knew whether InfoPath Filler was available separate from Designer?  I would like to make InfoPath Forms available to my users, but I won't be using Browser Based Forms. You might say, I am looking for an Adobe Reader-type approach to my forms...  Like, deploying Filler as a free reader to my users... Thanks, Gene.

C# Interview Questions

C# Interview Questions
This is a list of questions I have gathered from other sources and created myself over a period of time from my experience, many of which I felt where incomplete or simply wrong. I have finally taken the time to go through each question and correct them to the best of my ability. However, please feel free to post feedback to challenge, improve, or suggest new questions. I want to thank those of you that have contributed quality questions and corrections thus far.

There are some question in this list that I do not consider to be good questions for an interview. However, they do exist on other lists available on the Internet so I felt compelled to keep them easy access

Frequently Asked Questions - SQL Server Data Types

This is good and precise introduction and Frequently Asked Questions - SQL Server Data Types

Linq qry with order by basic questions

I have never tried a group by with linq, now I do and I'm stuck.

I try to convert this sql statement to its linq counterpart :

SELECT COUNT(tb_Mailer_Smses.Id) AS [cnt], tb_Mailer_mailing.Id As [Id]
,SUM( CASE WHEN tb_Mailer_smses.DLRStatus = 200 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) As [Delivered]
FROM tb_Mailer_mailing INNER JOIN
tb_Mailer_Smses ON tb_Mailer_mailing.Id = tb_Mailer_Smses.MailingId
WHERE tb_Mailer_mailing.ApplicationId = 1
GROUP BY tb_Mailer_mailing.Id

Is there some one who can me show me the convertion process ?

Questions about getter and setter

I created a getter and Setter in Visual Basic. I have some questions though. Please look at the code below.
Here are my questions.

A.) At line 1 below, should "pieces" be declared as Private?
B.) In the IDE at lines 4 and 7 the IDE keeps changing those variables to uppercase so that the property name "Pieces" is the
same as the variable name "pieces".Should I instead define the integer pieces with an underscore: _pieces ?
That is the only way I can get around the IDE forcing the variable to become uppercase.

1  Dim pieces As Integer

2  Public Property Pieces() As String
3  Get

4  Return pieces
5  End Get

6 Set (ByVal values As String)
7   pieces=value
8 End Set
9 End Property

Inside MSDN: Using InfoPath as a Reporting Solution

I love the part of my job that lets me write code and develop software. In addition to those responsibilities, however, I manage a development organization that's working on a number of large strategic projects.

InfoPath: Turn User Input into XML with Custom Forms Using Office InfoPath 2003

Office InfoPath 2003 is a new Microsoft Office product that lets you design your own data collection forms that, when submitted, turn the user-entered data into XML for any XML-supporting process to use. With an InfoPath solution in place, you can convert all those commonly used paper forms into Microsoft Office-based forms and end the cycle of handwriting and reentering data into your systems. Today organizations are beginning to realize the value of the mountains of data they collect every day, how hard it is to access it, and are striving to mine it effectively. InfoPath will aid in the design of effective data collection systems. Here the author shows you how to get started.

Redirect to Security Questions if Site accessed from unrecognized computer?

I'm fairly new to ASP.NET and i'm using the Membership Provider.  I have the need to do similar to some banking sites. Baically I need to track "authorized" computers/ip's for a user.  If the user accesses the site form a recognized Computer/IP then the user is allowed into the app after successful login.  If the computer/IP is not recognized I need to redirect them to a screen to answer the security question setup in fhte Membership Provider.

Has anyone done anything like this or can anyone point me to any examples?  I did a search, but can't seem to find anything.

My idea is to maintain a list of authorized computers/IP addresses and check them on initial login.  If the IP address isn't found I can redirect them to the questions.  My concern is that they are then actually authenticated and could enter any of the site URL's as an authenticated user.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Infopath and Section 508 Accessibility

Hey, guys! I'm building a web site for a Section 508 workgroup, and I need the site to be 100% accessible (including the administration module I'm making for the team. We're using SharePoint MOSS 2007 and I recommended using infopath to enter data into the site's database (and also to populate downloadable Microsoft Word documents). The customer claimed that InfoPath is not Section 508 compliant, which seemed odd to me because the forms can be modified to anything you want them to be (including 508 compliant).

I even found this guide to making InfoPath accessible:

I'm curious if there are any caveats to making accessible forms in Infopath, or if the information I've gathered is incorrect.

Proper setup using Infopath and Custom Workflow using VS 2008

I have been struggling for a couple of days, trying to set up a decent
structure for an Infopath project using a custom workflow using Visual Studio 2008.

I had a solution with two projects:

1) Sharepoint 2007 Workflow

2) Infopath 2007 form w/code-behind.

I included the xsn, in the VS solution, but after a day or two,
something went wrong, and I lost some work. I still do not know what
happened, but I could not get my changes to persist afterthat  Doing research I have read that this
stucture, using Infopath xsn, within VS does not work correctly with Source
Control. I am using VSS.

So I since made a change to the set-up so that the .xsn (form template) is separate from
Visual Studio. However, I need to leave the code-behind in VS, since I need to debug

This is my latest problem. I have been unable to attach to the correct
process, as VS generates cachse files, and who knows what else.

My question is simple. What is the supported method for debugging InfoPath
code/behind, which uses a Sharepiont Workflow?

I just also want to say that one should not have
to spend a few days just trying to setup a working development environment.

This should be trouble-free, but it is far from being so. I
