file creation date after uploading document to document library

Hi i am writing a event receiver to get the file creation date after the document is uploaded to the document library.

When a document library is uploaded to a document library the created date is overwriten by the uploaded date.

issues 1) i am not getting the folder path to get the filecreation date for system.io.file.getcreation() method

  public override void ItemAdded(SPItemEventProperties properties)

        properties.ListItem["Created"] =CreationTime(date);
        properties.ListItem["Title"] = itemurl;
      catch (Exception ex)

public CreationTime(SPItemEventProperties properties) {

 using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://test"))

        SPWeb oWebsiteSrc = site.OpenWeb();

        SPFileCollection fileCollection = oWebsiteSrc.Files ;
        //get the filelocation of the current document library
        string filepath = fileCollection.Web.Lists["test"].Folders.ToString();
        SPList oList = site.AllWebs["jtest"].Lists["test"];
        SPFolder folder=oWebsiteSrc.Files.Folder;

        SPListItem fileitems =oWebsiteSrc.Lists["test"].Items[0] ;

How to display the "Date Modified" property of documents in SharePoint document library

I'm using MOSS 2007.

Perhaps you already know that the "Modified" column in SharePoint document library is different from the "Date Modified" property of the document.

"Modified" being the SQL property of the object.

As a consequence, when uploading document to document library you don't have the actual modified date of the document. While you can see it opening the document in Explorer View!!

Is there a way to display the actual modified date of documents as a column in SharePoint document library?

Thank you.

Need to get actual created and modified time of the document while uploading file

    When I am uploading document to a document library, Normally  Create and Modified columns filled by today's date and time. But I need to fill those columns by actual created and modified date of that document, how can I do it.

I tried in this way,

I created a event receiver on ItemAdding and got file information, but I am unable to get the actual path from where file uplodaing ( so that I can have created and modified date).

SPFile spf = properties.ListItem.File;

string url = properties.AfterUrl;

All I need to get the file information (path, created and modified date) before it get uploaded to the document library.

"Date Modified" not working in Explorer View if document is created in Explorer View

Windows 7 SP1 with Webclient (webdav), Office 2010 Professional Plus, connects to a Sharepoint 2010 Document Library, using Explorer View, mapped to a disc drive letter. Document library has check out requirement turned off.

Customers work only in Windows Explorer with Webclient, they dont want to use web interface to Sharepoint.

Information to recreate the problem:

CASE1) Let's say a new docx document is created in Explorer View (in Explorer by  right-click-new Word document). Customer waits couple of minutes, enters and changes the document in Explorer View, and then saves it and closes Word. Result: Column "Date Modified" in Explorer view is unchanged, when it should have been changed. (!)

CASE2) Let's say I created new docx document in Web View (all documents view). Customer waits couple of minutes, enters the same document IN EXPLORER VIEW, changes it and then saves it and closes Word. Result: Column "Date Modified" in Explorer view is CHANGED to the new save time so now it works!

Why is this happening and is there any fix for this. Is this problem of WebDAV or of Sharepoint? It happends with .docx and .xlsx files, and not with .txt files and some othes which work correct when created in Explorer View.

Also when I copy/paste to Explorer View , column Date

Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.

User validation Issue in xlsx file

I am validating user from Login.xlsx file. It was working fine by validating email and password from that file. For testing i got new file same contents of file but added some more user names.

So after that when i validating the user i am getting the following error "Data type mismatch in criteria expression".

But when i replaced the new to old one it is working fine. The contens of both files are the same. So why this kind of error happened.

Large document libraries with a custom user interface

We recently migrated our document management system to SharePoint (WSS 3.0) and I adapted my VB6 client application to search for and retrieve a list of documents from this new SharePoint library using the Lists web service. Although the total number of documents in this library is 90,000 at one site and over 145,000 at another, my VB6 application never retrieves more than 600-700 documents at a time. From reading white papers such as "Working with Large Lists in Office SharePoint Server 2007" (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=95450&clcid=0x409), it appears that if my custom user interface limits the number of items returned in a search of these large lists, that it may not be necessary to put these documents into folders. However, our current scanning software, KnowledgeLake Capture, by default places newly scanned documents into folders based on the year, month, day and hour, which means that these documents are placed in nested folders 4 levels deep.

There are also some 20 metadata fields on these document libraries that allow us to filter these document libraries so that search results will in most cases be limited to a few hundred items.

We acquired new servers (Windows Server 2008 with SQL Server 2008) to host our SharePoint libraries and we are running WSS 3.0 S

The file reached the maximum download limit. Check that the full text of the document can be meaning

I'm facing an issue with the indexing.

I have 1 WFE+Index server+DB server.

Index server is not installed with MS FIlter pack 1.0

When crawling, the there will be document with warning in crawl log:
The file reached the maximum download limit. Check that the full text of the document can be meaningfully crawled.

Documents that with warning are such as doc, ppt, xls, docs, ppts and many others.
However, I view into the successful crawled document, there are doucments with ext doc and ppt.

For large file index, there are MaxGrowthFactor + MaxDownLoadSize required to be added into the index server.

As my understanding is, MS Filter Pack should installed into index server(already did, correct me if i'm wrong).

I looked into the Office SharePoint Seach(CA>Services in farm), if the server is appointed to "Use this server as indexing server", then MS Filter Pack is suppose to be installed into that particular server as well.

At the bottom, there also has another option is "Use all web front end for crawling".

The question here is, IF the option "Use all web front end for crawling" is selected.
Does the WED FRONT END Server required to installed the Ms Filte

File Attachments from info-path forms to Sharepoint document library

User group invalid for new document

Defined a user group and a site column of type people/group directing to this group.

Also defined a content type and added the site column to this content type.

When I create a new word document of this content type, word opens displaying my site column ok. But when I enter it, I see that all active directory (AD) entries are displayed. I want it to display only those users I added to the user group I created. Moreover, users can select any user from AD, which makes defining a user group and a site column meaningless.

This problem is only in creating new documents with Word. If I edit properties of an already existing document in my site, everything is ok: I can select only the users in the group.

Jquery date picker in ASP.NET Web user control does not work

Hello, I have the most frustrating problem and being new to JQuery does make it more difficult. I have an ASP.NET web user control with an ASP.NET box which I want to apply a JQuery date picker to, then of course I have server side code which takes the date and processes it etc. The date picker will not work. I can achieve a working JQuery date picker with an ASP.NET textbox if there is no user control involved, or within the user control I use a html text box instead, but once I add runat="server" to the text box, it does not work. Is there a way I can achieve this? (the web user control will be wrapped in an update panel too which at the moment will work with the html control/web user control without the server side functionality)

Reg File Upload control to upload files from document library

how to automatically save new file into document library with a unique name or ID?

I've created a form using MS Word Document (2007) and lock it (protect it) so that users will be able to fill in the required fields.
then i've created a Content Type and uploaded the MS word form to be used as a template.

Then I've created a document library and enabled the content type and associate the above form for the library, so that when users click on New button the form will open.

everythings goes fine till here.

The problem is when users clicks on New and save the file back to the library, It doesn't save it with a unique name, instead it is over writting the existing one.
in other words, if employee 1 fill up the form and save it and later on employee 2 accessed the library and fill up a new form, he will overwrite what employee 1 has already saved!!

Is there a way to give every new created file a unique name? maybe (username+time)??

Crawler fails to register date properties of user profiles with the month of January, April, August

This seems to be a bug when the crawler search the user profiles in MOSS 2007.  When crawled, user profiles with a SPS-HireDate in the months of January, April, August and December will be detected, but a full-text (SQL) search returns those profiles without the HireDate field.

User profiles with HireDates in other months work correctly, returning the HireDate in the search.  And changing the month of a problematic user profile also fixes the problem.

This problem is also reflected in the fact that while we have 499 user profiles using the SPS-HireDate property,  the managed property page from the search section only has 350 items with the HireDate property.

We're running MOSS 2007 32bit with SP2 with an English language base and the Spanish language pack. I'd considered date format problems, but I can't imagine how some months would work, while others wouldn't.

Any ideas?
