Unable to filter the "E-mail To" field in email enabled document library

Hi, We have setup a few email enabled docuement libraries to store emails relating to project work. Is there a way to make the "E-mail To" field in the library be filtered? It is greyed out and doesnt give you the option. The "E-mail From" and "E-mail Subject" are able to have a filter applied to them but for some reason the "E-mail To" field wont let you filter the content. The probelm is that there are over 500 files in the library and the easiest way to find messages is to be able ot filter this column in the library if it is at all possible.

why email and attachments not separated in email enabled document library?

I noticed that an email-enabled document library sometime separates email and attachments and it ends up with multiple items in the library; sometimes it does and it ends up with one item.

How do we control this or what is the trick here?

This is really frustrating!

Sharepoint Workflow To Shoot Email Only When Folder Is Created In Document Library

Hi, Can anyone help me with the below issue, I am facing this from so long and didn’t figure out solution yet for the same. :( I want to send an email through SharePoint designer workflow only when a folder is created in document library (not file uploaded/updated event). Please provide me solution about how I can achieve this through SharePoint designer as don’t have enough coding acquaintance.

Incoming Mail enabled MOSS 2007 document libraries.

I would like to ask is there a way to get the incoming emails to go into a subfolder because right now the email goes into the root of the document library?

Question about Workflow in Document Library with version control and check-in/out enabled

I use Sharepoint Foundation 2010 and have a workflow to set some metadata in a document with version control and check-in/check-out enabled (approval content is not enabled because anyone in the team can be a possible editor of the document).

My metadata is:

- a generated doc id with text+id (example P&D_1)

- a calculated status based in version: minor version = "on development" and major-version="published/approved"

I defined two workflows:

1) is called when item is created to define id and status.

2) is called when item is updated and status is re-calculated if version is major. (It is called in every item change, not only when user wants to publish a major version, because this option doesn't appear in SPD)

I noticed that sharepoint workflow must do a check-out to be able to update metadata, and because of this the version number is incremented. When version is minor, I don't care, but when version is major I have a problem, because just after publishing the version 1.0, the workflow changes metadata and the version to 1.1. and 1.1 means that the document is not approved anymore...

a) Isn't it possible to do the workflow to check-in and override the last/current version to not generate a new version??

b) Or is it possible to stop versi

SharePoint Document Libraries not receiving email

I am having an issue with my document libraries receiving incoming emails.  Talking to our Exchange guy, the emails make it through Exchange and appear to be delivered.  I can see the email going into the drop folder in the mailroot.  It leaves the folder, but is never delivered to the document library.  Does anyone know what my next step should be?

Let me know if you need more info.  I'm at a loss.

Changing the E-Mail Subject field in a Document Library

I am trying to use SharePoint Manager 2007 to change the Sealed attribute of the item to False, so that I can edit the E-Mail Subject field of items in an email enable library.  When I select False I get the error: "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.".

Is there another way that I can change this attribute to False?

With incoming email enabled, how can I open an email associated to a library

I have deployed the feature in a advanced scenario.

All work fine, I am able to recieve emails in a library and I can see it in the list with the rest of the documents of the library.

My "problem" is that I can not open it. I can download it in my desktop and then I can open it, but now I can not open it in the browser, like e.g. .doc or .xls

I have noticed that there are some features in library tools/documents like check out (enable) and check in (disable), and I don't know if I have to configure this options.

Some idea¿?

Thanks in advance.

Providing a link in an email to a document in another document library

I am developing a custom workflow using Sharepoint Designer 2007 in which workflow has to send a notification email with a link to a document which is in another document library. For eg: Doc A in Library A ( to which workflow is attached) sending an email with a link to Doc B in Library B.(Doc B is a document having specific information about Doc A.)  Can this be done? When i tried, i am getting HTTP 404 error. Workflow is initiated manually. I am having site collection Admin rights. Has anyone done this? Any help appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

Document Library incoming email attachments not showing To/From information

I have a document library setup to accept incoming emails as attachments.

When I send an email the document library receives it, the only problem is it doesn't show any of the header information such as who sent it, who it was sent to, who was CC'ed.  Is there any way to have this information shown?

Basically what I'm expecting to see before the body message is the From, To and CC.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Error when providing email setting into document library setting.

I am trying to create Email enable SharePoint Lists and Libraries so users can send an email directly to it. This is a great functionality for users to be able to contribute directly from their inboxes.

I am following this video

I am using SharePoint 2007.

I have configured Incoming email setting in Central Administration->Operations.

After this I have used Shared Document. I went to Setting of Shared Document Library.
Then I set options like:

Allow this document library to receive e-mail?  -> Yes
Email Address : shareddoc@sharepoint.local.com
Group attachments in folders?  -> Save all attachments in folders grouped by e-mail sender
Overwrite files with the same name? -> No
Save original e-mail? -> No
Save meeting invitations?  -> No
E-mail security policy: -> Accept e-mail messages based on document library permissions

After providing this setting, I clicked on OK button and I got an error :
Error in the application.

I checked Log file and event viewer also, but there is not entry fou

sharepoint 2010 Document Library - Email as attachment

I am disappointed to see that SharePoint 2010 does not appear to offer the ability to send a document from a document library as an attachment.  We use Sharepoint to control our documents as such we forbid, by policy, storing local copies of documents as there is no way to ensure that they are the current version (cached local kept in sync with a sharepoint library is allowed).  When Sales, Marketing, Customer Service wants to send a set of documents to a customer, they currently copy all the documents they need to a temp folder on their computer, attach all the documents from the folder to an email, then delete the temporary folder.

I was hoping with all the improved integration, that the library and more valuable would be a view of the library (as it is filtered and sorted) would be accessible to use when selecting attachments. Or the reverse - select a set of documents from a library view and choose email as attachment.

The closest options I have come up with is to open the library in explorer which allows dragging and dropping the documents into the email, but there does not appear to be a way to search or filter the items in the explorer view of the library.

Help me out, is there a better way to do this?  Can Sharepoint workspace help me here?   This is a common complaint at my o

Send email when downloading a file from a document library

I'm setting up a public facing SharePoint site for my company, a software house (did I show my age by calling it that?). We're wanting to put together a list of of software downloads, each item on the list having configured permissions for different groups (such as Group A can see downloads 1 thru 3, Group B can see items 1- 5, and Group C can see all 10 items)

When a logged in group member downloads the file (Send To > Download a copy) or by clicking the litem name, I want to send that person an email, which will contain setup instructions and unlock passwords, etc.

How can this be done?

I've googled and googled, but not been able to find any clues, which is a little unnerving.

Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.
