Error connecting using SPSite

Has anyone seen this error message?

The Web application at http://ecnet/Pages/Default.aspx could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application.

Errors on the line.

SPSite site = new SPSite("http://ecnet/Pages/Default.aspx");

It's a clean console application running on the SharePoint 2007 web server.

Any thoughts? I can't seem to connect to the Server like I used to in SharePoint 2003.

Trying to get SPSite when called through a web service

I have built a custom timer job that makes calls to a web service that I built.  The reason I built the web service is because I recognized that the sharepoint timer job does not have context for a site and I thought that by having the timer job call the web methods of the web service I could have the context that I desire.  This works great for accessing the web.config file, however, I have discovered that I am unable to get SPSite (SPSite oSite = new SPSite(AbsoluteURL)).  The constructor does not throw an error but I am unable to use the new object.  If I am able to get to the web.config and the site is a SharePoint site I figure I should be able to get an SPSite object.

I am trying to understand if I am running into a known scenario or if this should work and that I have a bug that I don't recognize.

Can not init SPSite for claims based authenticated site

Hi, trying to write a simple console application i was not able to init a claims based authenticated site with API nor with the Managed Client OM. Opening a site with only windows authentication is working. Running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 and SP 2010 server and logged in as the buildin Administrator account. Administrator is Site Collection Admin. static void Main(string[] args) {     ClientContext context = new ClientContext("http://mypc:300");     Web web = context.Web;     context.Load(web);     context.ExecuteQuery();     ... } throws "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.". Setting credentials for the context is also not working. or same problem with     static void Main(string[] args) {     using (SPSite spSite = new SPSite("http://mypc:300"))     {         ... throwing FileNotFound-Error. Any idea? Greetings Peter

Problems with using SPSite inside a Web Service (presumably credentials problem)

Greetings. I need to write a web service which will access sharepoint via object model (need to output data from lists, and no, built-in sharepoint web services are useless to me since they totally suck if you dont have an english-language site) In the code of my web service, i use something like this:   Site = new SPSite(SiteLink); Web = Site.AllWebs[""]; And then i use Web.Lists to get my list and work with it. It works, unless i put the webservice on. I mean, when the webservice is launched from Asp.net deveopment server, it works fine. When i made a website in IIS pointing it to my webservice, it now spits this error:   System.IO.FileNotFoundException: ?? ??????? ????? ???-?????????? ?? ?????? http://localhost/sites/test/. ?????????, ????????? ?? ?????? URL-?????. ???? ???? URL-????? ???????????? ??? ????????????? ???????м???, ???м????, ?????м??м? ??м??????????? ??????????? ???????? ????? ????????????? URL-?????? ??????? ? ?????м ??????????м. at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite..ctor(SPFarm farm, Uri requestUri, Boolean contextSite, SPUserToken userToken) at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite..ctor(String requestUrl) at IstrebitelProperListWebService.SchemaExporter.SetSite(String siteLink) in C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\ProperListWebService\ProperListWebService\IstrebitelProperListWebServ

SharePoint 2010 : Creating SPSite object throws exception FileNotFoundException

We are in a process of upgrading from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010. I had written a Service which runs under default web site on the SharePoint web server. This service's app pool account uses the farm admin account. The service was working with no issue on SharePoint 2007 x64bit server. When I installed and run the same service on SharePoint 2010 x64bit box. I get the FileNotFoundException on SPSite site = new SPSite(http://myserver/sites/projects/project01); I have given the pool account running this server following rights: The Farm Admin The Site Collection Admin The Database Sys Admin The Local Admin No Luck. Thank you in advance for your help.

Error occured when using SPWeb or SPSite in webpart

I am creating a custom webpart, in which I have a label control. This label will display the current site URL and here is the code

protected override void CreateChildControls()
        {
            base.CreateChildControls();
            SPWeb wb = SPContext.Current.Web;
            string baseURL = wb.Url.ToString();
            Label lblTitle = new Label();
            lblTitle.Text = baseURL.ToString();
        }

But when I try to use SPWeb or SPSite within CreateChildControl method, I am getting an unexpected error occurred message. Also I have used "using Microsoft.SharePoint;" too.

If suppose I comment those two line my web part is displaying the properly. As below

protected override void CreateChildControls()
        {
            base.CreateChildControls();
            //SPWeb wb = SPContext.Current.W

new SPSite("http://site") gives System.IO.FileNotFoundException

Greetings,

A colleague of mine has developed a functioning console application that simply performs a little search using an SPQuery object.

I've created a web service to be called by BDC to do this.

My web service code fails here:

   using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://sharepointapp01/sandbox"))

When I attempt to execute the method from a web browser, I get this:

powershell command New-SPSite does not activate featues

Hi,

I am using the powershell command New-SPSite to create a new instance of a custom site definition in SharePoint 2010.  Unfortunately it creates an empty site and none of the featues defined in the onet.xml of the custom site definition seem to get activated.  When I create this same site definition through the UI it works fine (features in the onet.xml do get activated).  Given below is the set of commands I use

$template = Get-SPWebTemplate "Custom#0"

New-SPSite -Url $SiteUrl –OwnerAlias domain\account –Template $template

Does anyone have any idea as to what is going wrong?

Thanks
Arjuna.
