Using a sharepoint list to populate a form then capture user input

Hi.  New to this forum but looks like a great resource.  I am using MOSS2007, Infopath 2007 and Nintex workflow 2007.

I have a form that will act as a report for each of the operational sites in my company.  Each site receives freight movements on a daily basis and these are on a schedule; I am trying to record the variances to that schedule.  What I have attempted to do is the following:

  • Create a sharepoint list that contains each of the scheduled arrivals per site.
  • Connect to this list in Infopath as a secodary data source.
  • Drop this in to the form as a repeating table.
  • Filter the list of arrivals by using the conditional formatting control on the section, bound to a drop-list where the user specifies the facility/site.

What I am trying to do is present these arrivals and have the user enter an "actual" arrival time next to each, then store the results on submit.  I therefore need to know two things, 1) how to capture an "actual" value for each row in the repeating table (at the moment this is pulled in as an empty field from the list) and 2) how to store the data on submit so it is there when the form is re-opened.

I hope this makes sense, happy to give you any further information that may be required.

Making a SharePoint list as readonly upon a user input.



I have a requirement here for which I am using a custom list. I have status field in the list and the business wants the list to be read only once the status has been changed to 'Closed'. Is that possible at all if yes how can I make all other list items as non editable once the status is closed? Please help me in doing this.

Creating Sites/Lists/List Items under Current User Context in SharePoint By Using SPUserToken

Usually we do this by performing the action under RunWithElevatedPrivileges method and updating the listitem using SPListItem.SystemUpdate() method (see here). but this approach has its own flaws like (RunWithElevatedPrivileges will run under system account, we cannot use SystemUpdate for SPSite,SPWeb,SPList, since it runs under system we will "CreatedBy" by as SystemAccount).

How to read a column of a sharepoint list to a text string field of infopath form?

My infopath form used to read these email addresses from a web service and web.config file. Now i would like to get these user email addresses from a contact list in a sharepoint server. I am trying to do this without writing any codes. Here is what i have done so far: 1. Adding a new "data connection to receive data from SharePoint library or List" where i selected Email Address column of the contact list. 2. I added a new Text Field and define a new rule with "Query using a data connection" defined above. When i try to access the newly created Text field above it always return empty as if the Query attached to it did not executed at all. What did i do wrong? Is there a better way? User Alert Management for a specific list versus entire SharePoint site?

It seems that to be able to manage User Alerts, one must have Full Access to the entire SharePoint site - and then use => Site Settings > User Alerts. Ideally, I would like to be able to grant access to users to only be able to manage alerts for a specific list. Is this possible (without having to do any programming) and, if so, how? If such access is only available at the site level, I will simply create a Permission Level that allows one to only "Manage Alerts" Thanks in advance for any assistance. Dave

create new custom list form in sharepoint designer and edit in browser

hi, i have created a new list using sharepoint designer 2007. now i inserted a custom list form to modify some field and add new ones. when i finished i will tight my new custom list to the custom form. what i want to know is. i see the status field in my new form. and i only want the status field to appear in the edit form for the one that has the permission to edit the status. then i tought of open the list in my browser and go to the list settings. but what i notice is i dont see my fields i have modified in sharepiont designer in the columns section i only see the ones from the existing list. my question is how can i hide the status field in the new item form that it only show in the edit form. and how do i get my new form in the column section so the end user can add more fields if they want without using sharepointdesigner thnx

Updating an InfoPath Form Library Template breaks preexisting SharePoint List Views

When updating an InfoPath template (e.g. adding a new field), any views I have created on the library lose their filters and sorting, as if the columns on which they were built no longer exist.  Has anyone else encountered this and, if so, is there a solution? V/r Noelle

How to prevent automatic update from sharepoint list on Infopath 2007 form

Hi there, I've got an Infopath 2007 form on MOSS 2007. I have a custom list in sharepoint and the infopath form has a data connection to that list to receive data. Is there any way to prevent automatic update on the values in the form that is received from the list. I'd like the new form to have updated info received from the list. However, the old/existing forms that were created should have the data that were available at the time when the form was created. Let me know if this is not clear and I'll try to explain more. hi, can i set up a user role for a custom list form in sharepoint services 3 i want to use the "submit new absence" form. but i need to modify the form in a way that when a user open the form it fills the user his name or login name in the fields. and that the approver or "assigned to field" also is filled with the approvers name. i think i need to use a query for that, but how can i apply it to the fields of the absence list form

Infopath Form Data submitting to Sharepoint 2010 List

Making a Client intake form that once submitted will send data to  a sharepoint 2010 List called contacts. Short Summary the form will have repeating fields and alot of information to submit. I have looked and read all over but I cannot find an easy step by step guild on how to submit the form data like that. Long Summary on the sharepoint site a button will open a form for adding a new client.  once the form has been filled out and the user hits submit sharepoint will then create a User File, in clients file, and take the data and put it into contacts list. SharePoint 2007 - Survey list - Getting user's Windows account ID from a web service using display

Surveys...grrrr.   I am developing a .NET console application that accesses survey data from a single survey list using the MOSS web service "Lists".   I am able to enumerate the survey list and get to the items except for the author of the survey response.  When I get to the column ows_Author, it appears to be a lookup value formatted like this:  "1066;#JOHN DOE".   How can I, using web services alone, lookup the corresponding Windows login ID of that user?  If I go to the survey in SharePoint and click on the name in the view, it takes me to a site-based user profile page that does show the account ID I want.  The page that displays appears to be a virtualized page like this "_layouts/userdisp.aspx?ID=1066".   What I really need is JOHN DOE's account ID like "domain\id". Can I get to this with the data I have available? Thanks

SharePoint 2010 email enabled list with workflow has incorrect User ID when items are emailed to the

I have set up an approval workflow for a document library that has email enabled. Emails come into the document library fine, however, if an item is emailed to the library the workflow kicks off with the initiator as "System Account" rather than the person who submitted the email. This makes the error of "The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the e-mail has a valid recipient." come up. If someone submits a document directly to the library (by logging into sharepoint and submitting) everything works fine. The person submitting by email is a valid sharepoint user and the profile shows the correct email address. The Created by and Modified by fields show the correct person (rather than System Account), it's only the workflow User ID that shows incorrectly if document is emailed to library. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Reg passing info from aspx page to New form.aspx page of list in sharepoint



Initially i have Newform.aspx in the list.In that when i am clicking an icon that is available in Rich Text Box Editor it is taking me to another aspx page.In that page i have custom web part with One Field Control to upload  and one Button to upload the files.Now my requirement is as soon as after uploading these file from web part i should display the file names in the Rich Text Box.Please share your ideas of capturing file names in the web part and getting those file names in the rich text box in the newform.aspx of the list please let me know
