Getting "wrong" data out of a microsoft.sqlserver.management.smo.database object property (using pow

My problem:I do something like this:$dbsvr = new-object microsoft.sqlserver.management.smo.server "servername"$dbsvr.databases | ft name,size -autosizeWhen i run this from two different PC's i get database sizes that are all the same (5.25 mb), the size of the first database listed - which is master.I started to try out a few things, and found out that when i run the same command from one of our servers it returns the correct sizes...Anyone have any idea if this a SMO issue, or maybe some package software version issue...- or what?

How to declare a global connection object?

Following the post on declaring a global variable 'theDate' with a defined date format to be used across the web pages, I now encounter another tricky question: Is there a way to declare a global connection object so that I can avoid repeating the same statements (SqlConnection myconn = new SqlConnection(Class1.conn); myconn.Open();) in all the coding page that require a database connection? Thanks.

Object Database Connectivity

Marta Krawczyk (BigKurwa)...I am experiencing difficulties finding a compatible program to access ODBC-compatible databases that are present on my local network.  Any suggestions or links that could provide me with more information?

Error: "The selected object(s) use an unsupported database provider"

I just installed the latest VS 2008 C# Express and SSCE 3.5. I am trying to test the "LINQ to SQL" feature. I added a data connection to Nortwind.sdf, selected "Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 (.NET Framework Data Provider for Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5)" as data provider, tested the connection, and get the following error when I drag and drop the "Customers" table on the design surface "The selected object(s) use an unsupported database provider" ?. I can create new tables and view existing tables etc. except droppinjg it on the design surface. What am I doing wrong?   The installation on my WindowsXP machine went without a hitch.   Sam

Configure managed accounts - object reference not set to an instance of an object - error

I was working in central admin and activated the managed accounts password change for the farm account with the option to change the password now.  I got the email notification that the password was changed and it seems in the log files that it did update all the credentials that were used with the account.  Problem is now that when I hit the configure managed accounts link in central admin all I get is the error: Error Object reference not set to an instance of an object.  Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation.  I'm making the leap to move from vb.net to C#, and I'm getting this crazy error when I try to execute one sp, set a value, and then execute another sp based on the value.   Any suggestions??? proc_GetSectionDetails is my first stored procedure.  From that, I get a value for SectionID, and then use it for the second sp called  proc_GetSectionDetails protected void getSectionContent() { SqlConnection conn = default(SqlConnection); SqlCommand comm = default(SqlCommand); SqlDataReader reader = default(SqlDataReader); string connectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["123"].ConnectionString; conn = new SqlConnection(connectionString); comm = new SqlCommand(); comm.Connection = conn; comm.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure; comm.CommandText = "proc_GetSectionDetails"; comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("SubSectionID", Request.QueryString["SubSectionID"]); conn.Open(); reader = comm.ExecuteReader(); if (reader.Read()) { lblName.Text = Convert.ToString(reader["SubSectionName"]); lblDesc.Text = Convert.ToString(reader["SubSectionDescription"]); Label SubSectionParentID = new Label();

trapping connection to remote object

I have a .net Remoting application.   I would like to do some tracking when connections are made.   Is there a way to interrogate connections being made to my remote object?

I have a singleton object, running as a service.   Basically when a ui connects I want to report back the state, and any pending messages.   So by looking at the connections I can keep a ptr to the next group of messages based on the client that connected.

Any insight into this would be a big help.

Updating the viewstate object before saving it to the database

I have overridden the following methods:

SavePageStateToPersistenceMedium(object viewState)

in a class that my page derives from, so that the viewstate can be stored in DB.

Now, on page_load of my page, I am checking what control caused a postback & based on that I am forcing execution of 2 button click events in a row (by overloading those click events & calling them explicitely), but the behaviour I want is as if the execution of those 2 button click events went through the regular page life cycle.

Here is the sequence of events that happen in typical page life cycle & notice I want to alter behaviour at step 4 (on load):

1) Initialization

2) LoadViewStateData (here the viewstate is loaded from my database using the overridden LoadPageStateFromPersistenceMedium)

3) LoadPostBackData

4) Load

Here, I would like to force execution of 2 button_click events based on whether a particular control posted back.

       4.1) imgBtnPrev5_Click()

       4.2) imgBtnPrev4_Click()

Now, when the imgBtnPrev5_Click() is executed, the viewstate is already loaded, so we are fine. But after execution of imgBtnPrev5_Click(), I would like to update the viewstate object in memory & then call the o

How to assign value to managed metadata field from client object model?

I am working on the project that is based on Client Object Model which should be able to create/update document sets form client side with possibility to fully manage column values. I've managed so far to manipulate from client most of field values but i'm still struggling with managed metadata fields. I know that there isn't any support for this type of field in CSOM so I used TaxonomyClientService which is available from server side and managed to retrieve data necessary for displaying field info. I also discovered that value for this field should be assigned in string form like [WssId]#[TermName]|[TermGUID] to be valid. My problem is how to retrieve WssId. I know it can be found in TaxonomyHiddenList of site collection but since it contains only values that were used in site collection so far it doesn't represent full solution for my problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance..
