Retriving page events dynamicaly

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Sinario is like that ,

There is a dropdown 'ddlpageName' on a page  where all the pages are listed.

Now When I select the particular page name from the ddlpagename, all the events (like page_load, grid events ,dropdown events) should be listed

in other dropdown named ddlevent.

Accessing controls / events on a master page from child page

I have a problem i am trying to work out the best method with my limited skills. Im using vb.net ( VS 2010  ) I am using a dll for an IFrame , which is call from code behind.  On my site I havea masterpage which has two gridviews. ( GrdViewWebBureau is the one i am using for this  query)  GrdViewWebBureau is contained within an update panel and updated on a timer control trigger. GrdViewWebBureau updates the page with file counts and status from our clients. I can click on any one of the cells and the code behind is fired. What I am trying to do is put an IFrame on the master page and every time a user clicks on the grid, the Iframe is fired up.  I have tested the iframe and vb code behind from a dummy page and it works, however when the Iframe is on the master page it doeant work.  What I am tryingh to achieve is that no matter what page a user is on the site, they will be able to click on the GrdViewWebBureau and the iframe will fire with the correct childpage. Each webPage may also have an Iframe as well, so i dont know if it is possible to make the IFrame global and just call that control ??  I have no idea if 1 this is possible with the code i have and 2, if i have the brains to understand the who what why and when. Please can you look at my code and pass anyt suggestions / help /  solutions. Master Pa

Automatically inserting server-side page events into C# when using code separation

I know this is a really basic question and I have spent the last half hour trying to find an answer so please forgive me if this has been asked before (it probably has)....When I create a web page with the C# code placed in a separate file I can't seem to easily add page events (apart from Page_Load). When I open the C# class code for the page all I see in the two drop-down boxes above the code is "Default" (with no other options in the drop-down) in the left-hand box and "ApplicationInstance,form1,Page_Load(object sender,EventArgs e),Profile" in the right hand box. I can't see a way to create the code for the other page events from either of these drop-downs.If I keep the C# code in the same file (i.e., not use code separation) everything works fine - I see "Server Objects & Events, Page, Form1, etc..." in the left hand drop-down and I can create new events in the right drop-down when either Page or Form1 are selected in the left box.Am I missing something really obvious?Many thanks for any suggestions

Is there any page load events

Hi, In C# programming, we have a page load event, which is fired, when the page is getting loaded. In the Page_load event, functions can be written, which can be used when some function needs to be done at the loading of page iteslf. Is there any events like that for  sharepoint coding. I found the ItemAdded and ItemDeleted events, which fires when an item is added or deleted, but when a page is getting loaded, to which event the code has to be written. Everytime the page is loaded, i want to execute a function. To which event handler, the code should be attached. I am using the Class Library project, under C#. Thank you

No OnClick-events on any button/ImageButtons on any page runs any code

I Simply drag a button from the toolbar onto a new page with a master page and a title, double click it so that I enter the Button1_Click function and sets a breakpoint and add some random code. The breakpoint nor the code never fires. I've tried this on several different pages and controllers, but with the same results: The page reloads, but no code is run.

I Have Tried:

Ive tried with three different webbrowsers with all plugins disabled.

I've tried to turn of Causes Validation, - Nothing changes.

I've tried to clean and Rebuild the project, - Still nothing.

I've tried to create a whole new project, - Does'nt work there either.

Other Information:

A RadioButtonList OnDatabound Event works, but whenever i try to do a Button or ImageButton click event the code for the event never fires. Ive programmed several webapplications in other versions of visual studio and ASP.NET but I have never encountered this problem before.

Breakpoints work in other parts of the code and the compile settings is set to DEBUG.

I am using

* Visual Studio 2010

* MVC 2.

Am I supposed to file a bug report or does anyone out there have a solution?

Many thanks in adv

How can I have a page width re-size dynamicaly depending on its content

I am using the AJAX re-sizing control and the control I am wanting to resize is on the right side of the page, so when I resize it, most of the image isn't visible.  If I could get the page width to change as I resize the image it would be great.

How do I do that?

Adding a server control on aspx page does not add events in aspx.designer.vb file

I work in VS 2008. Whenver I add a server control(Label) and set it properties in aspx.vb and build the solution, I get the error "Label1 not declared". While analyzing this issue I noticed that the event handler statements for the Label1 where not added in the designer.asp.vb file. These statement would actually be added automatically when I drag and drop a control to my webpage.

I would also like to inform the scenario after which this problem came to me. I was working in VS 2008 , VS 2005 and VS 2003 in the same machine.Could this have caused the issue ? Please advise.

Now each and everytime when I add a control, I am adding the "With Events" code in the designer page to make my build succesfull which makes me to spend more efforts.

Please advise if any settings have to be changed.

How to handle login control events when using a custom FBA login page?

Thanks to Kirk Evans' blog post that is liberally referenced all over the place, I have managed to get a custom login page working on my SP2010 site and it is pretty great.  The problem that I am having is that there doesn't seem to be anyway to respond to the events that are raised by asp.net login control that is in my page.

The page is inherited from Microsoft.SharePoint.IdentityModel.Pages.FormsSignInPage and as a result will error out when I attempt to reference a code-behind .cs file.  My question is, how do I respond to the events being raised by the login control that is in the page so that I can do things like logging successful user sign-ins?

jquery and javascript page load events and functions

Hello friends,

m studying the jquery and js these days, i notice lot of the functions that triggerd the js and jquery at page load.....

like some exampoles are.......

1. jQuery(function($){});

2. <body onload="initialize();>

3. $(document).ready(function(){});

4. function pageLoad(){}

5. and many more....

my question is that many of the functions inside that are not work at another type of page load trigger function....

and some of the page load event also makes conflict with each other.......

so i need to know is that what is the mean of all that event when they use?

thanks and regards

Changing the graphics on the home page of a SharePoint site

When you create a site in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services by using the default Team Site template, the home page includes two default graphics. A Windows SharePoint Services graphic appears in the body of the page, and a picture of a house in a circle appears near the site title. You can change these graphics to customize your site. Changing the smaller graphic requires a Windows SharePoint Services compatible Web page editor

Using jQuery to directly call ASP.NET AJAX page methods

Here I am looking to explain how to call page methods using jQuery. Using jQuery to directly call ASP.NET AJAX page methods

WCF Tutorial - Events and Callbacks

we described how to make a very simple client/server application where clients would call functions on the server through a shared interface. In this tutorial, I'm going to expand that application to allow the server to execute functions on the client by using callbacks. Essentially, this is WCF's mechanism to allow events to be raised from the server to it's connected clients.

Reduce ASP.NET Page size and complexity using JQuery

This is my first post on asp.net blog. ASP.NET Ajax and JQuery are two different ajax framework. In this post I will show, how we can enhance gridview using ASP.NET Ajax and JQuery. I also compare the implementation of these frameworks. In next posts i will explain more about JQuery and ASP.NET Ajax and also tell you "How to combine the power of both framework". My Future post will related to ASP.NET and related frameworks.

Delegates and events in c#.net

People often find it difficult to see the difference between events and delegates. C# doesn't help matters by allowing you to declare field-like events which are automatically backed by a delegate variable of the same name. This article aims to clarify the matter for you. Another source of confusion is the overloading of the term "delegate". Sometimes it is used to mean a delegate type, and at other times it can be used to mean an instance of a delegate type. I'll use "delegate type" and "delegate instance" to distinguish between them, and "delegate" when talking about the whole topic in a general sense.

I have 2 web pages. First page has a textbox and a button control.

when I enter test and click on the button , system goes to the second page. And in the second page I want to access the Textbox in the first page. When I try to do this I get the following error.

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Following is my code :

Dim txt As New TextBox

' Find the server name on the previous page
txt = CType(Page.PreviousPage.FindControl("TextBox2"), TextBox)
If Not IsNothing(txt) Then
Response.Write("[Name Not available]")
End If

I know I could do this with session, but I want to use the Page.PreviousPage.FindControl. Any help is greatly appreciated

Unique content within master page based on conditions met

 Hi all-

I would like to present users with unique content based on certain conditions being met as they land on the home page (default.aspx).  The condition logic will be in the VB code behind Page Load event. The content will go in a content placeholder as specificed from the master page.

However, the content change wouldn't be something small (ie making a panel or label visible or not) but rather it will be different HTML,  Divs and databound gridview content.  The HTML content will be stored in the database.

Can someone point me in the right direction for best practices on how to accomplish this?

Launch CMD File From ASPX Page

My organization uses a CMD file to install updated files for a major enterprise application. Currently, we send out an email to users with a link to the file and instructions to run it, BUT inevitably users don't update their machines until their in field and try to start the app.

We're now liking the idea of using an ASPX page to prompt the users to run the updates and to capture the fact that the updates have been run. I realize that we can't capture the success or failure of the update. But we'd like to capture the user accessed the page.

Is it possible to embed into the markup for the page a link to the file on the local intranet that the users can click on to run the file?

The user accessing the page would capture that they did just that. We'd deal with wether or not the update was actually installed or if it failed later with them directly.
