Parameter error in the web based application

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hello Everyone,

I am working on a web based application wherein I have a created 2 dropdown lists for the user to select. If the user does not select any value from any or both of the dropdown lists, they should see a message- 'Please a select a value for trade code' or 'Please a select a value for direction'. Instead I am getting this development error:

'Procedure or function 'usp_AdminPageCustomerGroupingSearch' expects parameter '@tradecode', which was not supplied.'

As I am still novice to asp.net or C#, I am unable to find the correct code to catch this error and display the relevant message to the user. Could someone please help me with this ? The following is the slice of the C# code which is related to the dropdown list:

 void populateGV()DataView dv = new DataView();<

Problem making Role based Menu in MVC application

I want to make Rolebase menu in MVC such that if user doesnot have permission for some action then that Action name shouldnot be shown in the Menu.

I have used the code in the url(http://forums.asp.net/t/1566328.aspx) in my MVC application. My application is a Discussion Forum(in MVC) same functionality as in this forum forums.asp.net

I have used Controllers for post, thread etc.In each controller there are some actions that are using [Authorize(Roles)] attribute

but this coding does not count  those Actions in Controllers having Authorize attribute according to the url http://forums.asp.net/t/1566328.aspx

In the code, Authorize attribute is applied to Controller class, but my requirement is of Applying Authorize attribute to some actions in controller so that some are available for all users and  some links are available rolewise. Now what is the solution for that?

Error Handling: Throwing Custom Exception Types from a Managed COM+ Server Application

Exception handling semantics in .NET are based on type, so you can create custom exceptions that have their own properties and methods. In .NET, exceptions are first-class citizens, and since they're the built-in error handling mechanism, all .NET-compliant languages must support exceptions. In addition, COM+ services are available to .NET code as Enterprise Services, so you can leverage exceptions in your Enterprise Services design. In this article the author describes custom exceptions, throwing exceptions across COM interop boundaries, and working with Enterprise Services.

Windows Forms: Give Your .NET-based Application a Fast and Responsive UI with Multiple Threads

If your application performs any non-UI processing on the thread that controls the user interface, it may make the app seem slow and sluggish, frustrating users. But writing multithreaded apps for Windows has long been restricted to C++ developers. Now with the .NET Framework, you can take advantage of multiple threads in C# to control the flow of instructions in your programs and isolate the UI thread for a fast and snappy user interface. This article shows you how. Also, it discusses the pitfalls of multiple threads and presents a framework for safe concurrent thread execution.

Security: Unify the Role-Based Security Models for Enterprise and Application Domains with .NET

Role-based security allows administrators to assign access permissions to users based on the roles they play rather than on their individual identities. These privileges can be used to control access to objects and methods, and are easier to identify and maintain than user-based security. The .NET Framework provides two role-based security models, which are exposed as two namespaces: System.Enterprise-Services and System.Security.Permissions. Presented here is a comparison of the two options and a discussion of when each is the right choice. The author also demonstrates the process involved in setting up access security and discusses role memberships.

Error in / Application after adding employee search in webpart

Hello everyone,

I am working on sharepoint 2007 and I was editing the webpart of the software and after adding the predefined employee search table, the server has crashed while trying to access the server remotely with the following error message:

Error in / Application

However, while trying to login locally I have no problem and can easily login.

What will be the course of action in fixing this error.

Also the site is complaining of an invalid certificate even after adding an exception.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Chris Stanko

Application just crashes without error

Hello, I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Premium edition on a Vista 32-bit machine. I've created a WPF application that has references to some old DLL's (older version of Framework). The application needs to load some stuff and then display a map. When I run the app in the debugger of VS2010 it always works!! But when I want to start the app as a normal .exe application, it crashes without an error. It writes a line in the Windows Log: It's an Application Error 1000   Application error Norma SEH Module.exe, version 2010.8.1.0, timestamp 0x4c737108, module error clr.dll, versie 4.0.30319.1, timestamp 0x4ba1d9ef, exceptioncode 0xc0000409, errormarge 0x002b5b8c, proces-id 0x121c, Application starttime 0x01cb435c02d99ad2.   In my app.config the frameworks are defined like: <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> <requiredRuntime version="v1.0.3705" safemode="true"/> <supportedRuntime version="v4.0"/> <supportedRuntime version="v1.0.3705"/> </startup> The weirdest thing is that they app.exe does work 1 time and then it won't work until I create a rebuild with VS2010. Can someone please help me out here? I've searched the whole internet and can't find anything. Thanx in advance With best regards, Alex van der Lans Team Leader | Software Engineer URL: http://www.

ssrs 2008 R2 - report parameter with no default set throws java script error

We have recently upgraded from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2008 R2....I am experiencing a problem with my report parameters on my SSRS reports. It seems that my report parameters that I do not have a specified 'default' value throws a java script error when I try and run/render the report under R2.  As soon as I put a 'default' value on the report param, everything is fine.  However, that is not the behavior we need for our reports...the user needs to pick their selection. Can anyone shed some light on this, it seems to be an AJAX problem...I need to be able to have report parameters with a list of values, but no 'default' value on the parameter.

Sporadic .NET application crash with "Fatal Execution Engine Error"

I have a .NET application that runs for several hours.  It is a multi-threaded app that does some calculations and saves the results to the database.   On one machine in particular, it has been crashing recently with the following exception recorded in the Event Log: .NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.4206 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (6C9D7B6E) (80131506) Faulting application AnalyzerConsole.exe, version, time stamp 0x4c76d28b, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.4206, time stamp 0x4bf4c6a7, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0011627d, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10.
