Opening balances

I am really struggling with this problem that im sure others have come across (and hopefully solved without pulling their hair out!)

My cube measures cases and elapsed time between opening and resolving.  This could be from a number of source systems, including workflow apps and helpdesk request logging.

Scenerio is simple, request comes in on one day and can be closed on same day or any subsiquent days.   One of the requirements is to see the opening balance and any particular period.  The opening balance is simply anything that was open at that point

In sql this can be calculated by

select *
from tmp_factrequest
where  receiveddatekey <= @date
and (completeddatekey = 19000101 or
completeddatekey > @date)

But i am really struggling to get this logic in mdx so a calculated measure can be created to allow users to drag time dimension.

To allow this design work, i am pretty sure i will need to include in the fact an open date, close date and report date.  Each time a new request comes in a new fact record will be created and (closed also if applicable).  If request is not closed on that day, the completeddatekey will be set to 19000101.  On subsiquent days when the request is completed a further fact record will be completed with including all of the opening at

MDX Recursion - Opening Balances

I have a fact table where I am storing a single record for each event including an opening and closing date key.  Records are updated so that if a case is closed the completed key is update from 19000101 to todays date key.

I have calculated measures for working out Opening/closing balances and work completed as follows:

WIP_OpeningBalance :

IIF([ReceivedDate].[Calendar-Year-Month-Day].CurrentMember.FirstSibling IS [ReceivedDate].[Calendar-Year-Month-Day].CurrentMember
        ,([ReceivedDate].[Calendar-Year-Month-Day].CurrentMember.Parent, Measures.WIPItem_OpeningBalance)
        ,Measures.WIPItem_ClosingBalance)

WIP_Closingbalance:

([ReceivedDate].[Calendar-Year-Month-Day].PrevMember,WIP_ClosingBalance)
                + ([ReceivedDate].[Calendar-Year-Month-Day].CurrentMember,RequestCount)
                - WIP_CompletedInPeriod)

The WIP_ OpeningBalance measure is fine for year and month level but pretty much grinds to a halt at the daily level.  I understand this is because of the number of cells it needs to cover is

Visual Studio closes itself by opening aspx-Page designer after Windows Update

Hey Guys,

I've a problem with my Visual Studio.

On the 13th of August 2010 i installed a Windows update on my vista sp2 pc. For this date my Visual Studio 2008 sp 1 always has closed itself by opening an aspx-page in designer view. There is no error message just closing the window. I restored a backup of my windows from the time before updating it and it helped, i could open aspx pages in the design view till the update has been installed again automatically after rebooting the pc. I can't disable windows updates, cause it's my pc at work and safety is very important. I hope you could help me out of this disaster.

Thanks

Nik

ASP.NET Configuration not opening

I recently upgraded to VS 2010 and downgraded to SQL Server 2005. Now when I go Website > ASP.NET Configuration nothing happens.

It's likely this has to do with the fact that when I was installing SQL Server I got the 'ASP.net Version Registration requirement' warning, as well as the 'Failed to find the ASP.net Version Registration requirement with MS IIS'.

Anyone know what I need to get ASP.NET Configuration working?

On the first click nothing happens but on the second click the browser window is opening up.

                                    onclick="ImageButton3_Click" />

    protected void ImageButton3_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e)
    {
        String openURL = "javascript:window.open('" + "Folder1/testing.aspx" + "');return false;";
        ImageButton3.OnClientClick = openURL;
    }

Problem opening dotnet 1.1 projet on 2008 web server

 We recently upgraded to a 2008 development web server and I installed all the stuff to get dot net 1.1 app working on the server.  I can host them and they work.  My problem is that when I try to open one in VS 2003 I get the following error.  I set up the web server the same as my previous one, and I think a long time  ago I got this error when we set up current one but do not remember how to resolve it.  So I moved my project files from the old server to the new server and then I get these errors.

The web Server reported the following error when attempting to create or open the Web Project located at the following url: Http://localhost:/MobTracker. 'Http/1.1 500 server error

Switch views when opening a form depending on submit locations?

Hello!

I would like to know it was possible to switch views when opening a form depending on where the form has been submitted.

I am submitting my form to library A and library B and want to be able to open it in view 1 in library A and in view 2 in library B.

Is there a way to set some url conditions in the open behavior rules?

Thanks a lot!

Check-out issue when opening a document from a document library when a read-only copy is open

We have an issue when a user has a read-only copy of a document from SharePoint open and then tries to check-out and edit another copy of the document (i.e. from the document library) the checked out copy is not connected to the web server. For the user it will look the same they will make edits, save and then close, but when they do so the document is not updated in SharePoint - it may be saved locally in their SP drafts, but the user will think that they have lost their version. We then get the checked out to another user error and you have to discard changes to get the document working again. Steps to reproduce this issue: * click on the name of a office doc on a Document Library * Make sure "Read Only" is selected and click "ok" * Minimize open document * click on the same file on the Document Library * Make sure "check out and edit" is selected and the "Use my local drafts folder" checkbox is ticked. Select OK. * Edit document and press save. Changes are never saved back in SharePoint, they are only on the local draft. We are using MOSS with SP2. Clients are on Office 2003 and 2007 Is this normal behaviour? Is there anything that can be done to prevent this from happening?

Getting User_Name when opening a form

Hi Everyone:

Scenario on  MOSS with Infopath Form Services:

  1. Two libraries - Library 1 is a list and Library 2 is Infopath form library (browser base form)
  2. A workflow in Library 1 creates a item in Library 2 and pre-populates the form with some data from the list (this works perfectly)
  3. Also a  user can create a form directly in Library 2 (the form library)using the New button
  4. The form has a hidden field which captures UserName() and if User Name = another field in the form, the User can make a change, if it doens't match User can't change the data)

Problem:

  1. When a user creates a new form in the library, the hidden field is correcty filled in with the logged on User.
  2. If they save, close and open the form, the field still shows logged in user
  3. BUT, if the form is created and saved in the form library by the workflow, and a user then opens the form from Library 2, the Username() blank.
  4. So, one a form is created by the worklflow and a user opens it after the fact, how do I capture the Logged in user who is opening it for the first or subsequent times?

Thanks for your help!

Hi - hope someone can answer my question. I'm using SSMS 2008 on Windows 7.  When I go to open or save a file, it is unbelievably slow when I go to navigate folders using the pull-down in the top of the Open or Save File dialog.  It goes completely unresponsive for about 30 seconds. Has anybody seen this or know how to fix it?Jeff Balcerzak

Not always prompted for read-only or EDIT mode, when opening files with IE7, Sharepoint 3.0

Hello Everyone,   We use Sharepoint 3.0 and when I click on a document I get a pop up prompt that asks me whether I want to open the file in READ-ONLY or EDIT mode.   I use a machine with XP Pro that is running IE7.   A user called me today, also running IE7, and when he clicks to open a Sharepoint file he gets a different prompt - a simpler one that just offers OPEN or SAVE.   I don't care that his prompt looks different - the problem is that he is able to open the file, make edits, but then when he closes the file (using Excel) he isn't able to save his changes.   Excel only provides a save-as option for him.   This isn't a permission problem with his ID.   When I login to our Sharepoint 3.0 system as him, with his password (from my machine), I get the usual Read-Only / Edit prompt and when I open a file in EDIT mode I am able to save my changes with no problem.   Any thoughts on this?   Chris
