Reports rendered in R2 now give an error ; Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collec

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi, the full error is

An error occurred during client rendering. Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index

We have many reports that were working fine on the old 2008 business intelligence reporting services.  When we launched the rdls on a R2 bids server, we received the above error.

The way we fixed this was by trial and error and found a text box caption and text box expression that was too 'skinny'. We widened it vertically and it worked. No widths were negative numbers, just too 'skinny' it seemed.  Again, the text box vertical width worked fine in the old bids.

Ok, so what's our problem?  Well, we have dozens of reports now throwing this error.  The field text boxes are not all the same on the reports. We can go through each report and spend an hour trying to figure out what text box is the problem. This will be time consuming. Any patches from ms or advice how to do this quickly???

2008 R2 Tuning Advisor reports "Error: Exception encountered(DTAEngine)"

I am encountering an error when I try to use the SQL 2008 R2 Database Engine Tuning Advisor. I create a very simple workload (either by right-clicking a query in SSMS or by loading a file), and click Start Analysis.  In the "Consuming Workload" step DTA aborts, and in the message column displays "Error: Exception Encountered(DTAEngine)". When I click on the error message, I get a dialog box with a title of DTAEngine, and a message "Error: Exception encountered". This is a clean test environment (SQL 2008 R2 Data Center Edition 64-bit, on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit, in a VM) against a local database. Any ideas about what the problem is or how to resolve it? Increase string size in Crystal Reports for VS 2010

Hi guys, I have a field in my dataset with type nvarchar(1000). when I link it to crystal reports, it converts it to a field of type string with length set to 100. As a result of that, the string in that field is being truncated on the report. How can I increase the string length to 1000? (I already checked the "Can grow" option). Thanks, Sam

Row size error

Hello, I'm getting again row size errors: Cannot sort a row of size 32826, which is greater than the allowable maximum of 8094. Consider resubmitting the query using the ROBUST PLAN hint.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly. The fields I do the operation on are 1 smalldatetime field and 11 int fields, which doesn't even get close to the maximum size, so I just don't understand what's wrong! Thanks for any help.

SSIS Execute Process Task Give "Access is Denied" error but it is not related to access control.

Hello All - I have a very weired SSIS problem. I am using BIDS in two machines - Windows 7 Professional Edition x64 bit (development workstation) and Windows 2003 Standard Edition x32 bit SP2 (server) . The visual studio version on both the machines are Version 2.0.50727 SP2. I found that my package's ExecuteProcessTask fails with "Access is denied" error in Windows2003 but runs ok in Windows 7 dev box. I then tried to debug the package in the Windows 2003 environment itself. The package failed in debug mode too with the same message. After looking for a while I found that when I shorten the Argument length of the failing ExecuteProcessTask the task did seem to work. So in Windows2003 environment if my argument exceeds 1846 characters the ExecuteProcessTask fails with message "Access is Denied". If the argument string is less than 1846 it works ok. In Windows 7 environment there is no problem at all. It does not seem like access problem but I may be wrong. Has anyone seen this? I will appreciate any reply. Thanks, Niben

EXEC 17P_Comose will give incorrect syntax error. Because of numeric name

I am working with a sql server database with about 50 stored procedures. The database and stored procedureswere not created by me. The stored procedures all begin with a number in their name. Example: 17P_Comsetter The problem I am having is that if I try and execute the stored procedure at the command line in Query Analyzer, the query analyzer appears not to like that the stored procedure begins with a number. For example: If I try an run the stored procedure as follows: EXEC 17P_Comsetter Then I get the following error message:Msg 102, ..... Incorrect Syntax near '17' If I rename the stored procedure so that it does not begin with a number, then I do not get the error. The problemis that the company I am working at has a policy in place that stored procs must begin with a number.I am using SQL server 2005. Does anyone know why I am getting this error message?

Error occuring while exporting larger reports to Excel from SharePoint

I have SSRS configured in SharePoint integration mode. I have reports deployed. if a user wants to export the report to an excel file works fine for smaller reports. But, in the case of larger reports it is throwing me an error while doing export to Excel. I am getting message like

An unexpected error has occured.

Example: Monthly reports are exporting to excel file fine. Where as, Yearly report has more data than the monthly reports. If I try to export these reports, I am getting above error. I must sure, this is something to do with the IIS time out or application time out(setting in web.config file of web application). Please some one guide me where is best place to do this.

Viewing works fine for both the reports.

I appreciate your help.

WCF To WM6 Maximum Message Size Quota Error

I am having some trouble with an error message that keeps popping up on a handheld application. It says 'The maximum message size quota for incoming messages (65536) has been exceeded. To increase the quota, use the MaxReceivedMessageSize property on the appropriate binding element.'

The app talks to a WCF service I've created and after googling around a bit, I discovered the MaxReceivedMessageSize value needed to be set.  However, after doing so in WCF service and setting the bindingConfiguration property to the correct binding element, the same message appears on the handheld.  The handheld app has no binding elements within the .config file and I tried adding the same binding data to this config file but the handheld crashes. What should I do?

Here's the server config binding data:
