Working on integrating share point 2007 with an application through which people can upload documents. Share Point has uniqueness check on the documents file name. This integrating application doesn't have any uniqueness check on the file names. It allows
any number of files with same file name to be uploaded and treated as different files. This application tries to upload all those files into a single document library in a share point site. Here, facing the issue. When multiple documents with same file name
are uploaded in to a single share point site document library, share point treats the earliest uploaded file as version '0.1' and all other uploads and newer versions of the first uploaded file.
Would like to know, if there is any option in share point using which we can configure share point to apply uniqueness check on some other document attribute instead of the file name.
P.S: Can't enforce document name uniqueness in the other application. That application design demands allowing multiple files with same name uploaded, to be treated as different files.
Any leads in to this achieving this will be very helpful.
Thanks in advance

I'm currently busy with an overview of Best Practices for developing accessible web sites in SharePoint 2007. After a little research I have noticed that the challenges I have faced so far are mostly XHTML/CSS/JS related and there are actually very few SharePoint 2007 specific issues: this has to do with the fact that we use very little to none of standard SharePoint controls in the Internet facing web sites we deliver.
As I would like to share the Best Practices I'm writing with the community I've been wondering whether you have tried to develop an accessible web site in SharePoint 2007 yourself and faced any challenges you would like to share. To make myself clear I'm looking for issues and challenges and not solutions in particular (these are welcome as well by the way).
Recently I've been busy with a research on accessibility of Web Content ManagementÃÂ solutions based on SharePoint 2007. My outcome is: SharePoint 2007 WCM solutions can be accessible and depending on the approach you canÃÂ score up to 95% WCAG 1.0 Priority 2.0 compliancy without any toolkit.
I've been wondering whether anybody else shares my opinion or has his/her own...
We are going live with our new site on internet shortly and we wnat to do an 301 redirect from old url to our new url. e.g. our url
http://www.abc.com/def/ and the new url
http://www.abc.com/efg/klm/zzz.aspx [The domain is same]. It will raise a 404 if we are not set the 301 redirect.
Please let me know how can we do this?
we receive error while trying to create excel sheet using the template we have uploaded on the SharePoint 2007.
This occurs on a machine that has Office 2010 installed. Earlier the machine had Office 2007 and everything was working fine.
Can you let me know why is problem is coming and how to resolve this.
when we do incremental crawl, the items in index start decreasing and the error count remains the same. so it is hard to find what is causing the index items to reduce. can anyone help please. i had to pause the active crawl because of this
index item decrease.
I have checked the following:
1) there is no space issue
2) no credential issue
What I found a bit fishy is that:
1) in the log, i got ->
a)get REGKEY_FLTRDMN_MS_TO_IDLE, using default - _File:\office\source\search\search\gather\fltrdmn\fltrdaemon.cxx Line:323
