How to show left menu and center of page contents in an ASPX page?

Scenario : Within sharepoint site user will click on a hyperlink which should take him to a new page and this new page will have the same header/footer (so I will create a copy of the masterpage with just header, footer) but the left side menu navigation will dynamically change and for each click event within the menu, the center of the page will show varying texts plus videos.

Need some directions as how I can acheive the above? What should I use to build menu control and similarly how to control the center text of the page.

Can I acheive the entire above using webpart and if so how? Do I need to use user control for menu and for center text display webpart ? or else any other best options?

Please suggest.

How to left allign menu items in a menu centralized using div

I have a menu control in asp.net 3.5.  The menu control is centralized in the page using a div. I have written CSS to align menu items to the left... In IE8, the menu items also appear centrally alligned.  However in firefox the menu control is correctly aligned to the centre where as the menu items are aligned to the left.  I want the menu items to be alligned left while the menu control allign to the centre of the page in IE too...

Thanks in advance.

How to create a webpart page with a site menu on the left?

Greetings.

This might be another novice question but i really googled and searched this site and didnt find any answers (even though topics close to this are discussed, this one isnt).

Scenario: I have a webpart i wrote that shows people who has birthday and provides sorting tools (in exact month/ exact day/ name contains string). This webpart has to be displayed as the page's content (in the center, its ~900px wide). This page must have the site menu on the left as well so users can navigate freely.

I tried to create a new webpart page in MOSS and successfully placed the webpart there, but the page wont have the left site menu.

I need that left menu!

I tried creating a web page from a template with a strip (sorry cant find better word to explain that) on the left but that strip only allows to add more webparts, and doesnt allow to show the menu there.

How do i show the website menu (the one with links to Tasks, Lists, Users etc, the one that always shows itself on the /sites/sitename/ page and when viewing Lists) on my web part page?

Or do i have to go other way, meaning, not by using a web part page, but with some other way, like create an aspx page or something?

Please help.

How do I Have Datalist Header on Left Side Only?

I have a  datalist displayed horizontally that is working almost as I wish, but there are a couple of things that I need to do but don't know how to.

The first thing is that I want to have the header column display one time only down the left side of the datalist and not in each repeated column.

The other thing (which I thought would be easy to do) is to have gridlines around each "cell" of the datalist.

Can anyone tell me how to do this?

If the Gridview were able to display horizontally, this would be perfect, but so far, I can only find the datalist to display horizontally.

Thanks in Advance

Hide public view of list on left menu - no SD - Sharepoint 2003

Hi folks,

I'm working in a crippled sharepoint environment - basically our multinational company has given us a Sharepoint with a Teamsite template and no tools to get the best out of it.

I have created a site with a list containing 3 public views. 2 of these views are for the "the workers" to input and view data. The 3rd view has all items, and is for management information for a select number of users. These users do not use the view directly, it is picked up by an Excel spreadsheet.

The 3rd view in it's completeness is sensitive information, and we would like to remove the view from the views menu on the left hand side. I suspect that this may be possible using javascript code, in a CEWP. I am making this assumption because this article seems to be doing something similar:

http://techtrainingnotes.blogspot.com/2008/02/sharepoint-hiding-menus-not-using.html

I am not familiar with javascript or the objects referred to, although I have used javascript previously to amend column widths in a view.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Leslie

Is it possible to have a right to left asp.net menu?

Hi

Is it possible to have a right to left asp.net menu control in .Net 4.

I use Asp.Net Menu server control and I cant make it right to left. I want sub menus open at the left side of parent menu.

I checked direction:rtl and its not working.

If i set dir="rtl" on a div that contains the menu it works on firefox but on IE the menu jums out of the screen.

Is there any good solution for this?

Thanks

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

Use jQuery and ASP.NET AJAX to build a client side Repeater

By sending only data to the client, you can profoundly reduce the size of what you send and see a substantial increase in performance. You also allow yourself the ability to easily add features like light-weight sorting and paging on the client. This can not only improve your users' experience, but reduce server load and bandwidth requirements.

ASP.NET Menu with jQuery Superfish

Choosing the right type of menu for a website is not easy at all. The ASP.NET Menu Control is definitely NOT a good starting point due to the horrendous markup it renders, nor is it good for SEO because of the Markup/Content ratio, neither can it be easily styled.
