Server-side validation on an Entity Framework required field (property) does not work!

Has anyone had issues getting server-side validation on an Entity Framework required field (property) to work? The data type is a string (nvarchar). Server-side validation for required fields of other data types WORK fine. Only string fields have issues. I get the following error on UpdateModel(obj); of my POST method within the controller. Exception Details: System.Data.ConstraintException: This property cannot be set to a  null value.Source Error: Line 4500:                OnTextChanging(value);Line 4501:                ReportPropertyChanging("Text");Line 4502:                _Text = StructuralObject.SetValidValue(value, false);Line 4503:                ReportPropertyChanged("Text");Line 4504:                OnTextChanged(); I've even tried data annotations like this but it seems to get ignored.     [MetadataType(typeof(ObjMD))]     public partial class Obj     {

Health Analyzer reports "Product / patch installation or server upgrade required." and I can't seem

The text of the error is: On server SHAREPOINTSERVER, once all required products and/or patches are installed, perform an upgrade by either running PSConfigUI.exe or by executing the command "PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures". If a former upgrade attempt has failed, you may need to resolve upgrade specific issues before attempting upgrade again. Refer to the upgrade status page (http://sharepointserver:XXXX/_admin/UpgradeStatus.aspx) for information about current and prior upgrade attempts, and to determine issues that may be preventing upgrade from succeeding. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142700". So I went to the server in question and ran the command line quoted in the error message and then I get this error back: Configuration of SharePoint Products failed. Configuration must be performed before you use SharePoint Products. For further details, see the diagnostic log located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\1 4\LOGS\PSCDiagnostics_....log and the application event log. So fine, I look into the event log and get this: Failed to initiate the upgrade sequence. An exception of type System.IO.IOException was thrown. SQL Server 2008 side -by-side installation in Cluster w2k3 sp2.

Hi  I am ready with In-Place and went to Sr.DBA Manager, He rejected and he want 100% Database guarantee and 100% safe, down time does not matter for him and recommended me go a head with Side by Side. 1.If detach Database from SQL2k and attach to SQL2k8,I don't think  it is possible to attach back...is it correct 2. Is it required Create new cluster group for SQL2k8? 3. In 2 case what are the cluster groups I have to Create 4. Is it required to change connecting string from application? 5. If it is where i have to modify the connecting string in application level or in Database server level? 6. What are the settings can I take care after installing new sql server instance?  7. Is it required new virtual instance name for new installation (Instance)? 8.Is there any way to use existing virtual instance name for New instance?(so I belive no Need to change connecting string in application) 10.Is it possible to change instance name?(Old instance name to some other name and new instance name as existing instance name).  SNIVAS

Issues reinstalling a Second Node (Active/Passive) SQL Server 2005 Lustering

We originally had an Active /Active-Passive Node Cluster; (SQLCLUSTER1 (S1) and SQLCLUSTER2 (S2). After a client who needed access to SQLCLUSTER2 was unable to connect, I discovered that the TCP Ports somehow got corrupted.  I couldn’t find a 1433 port. So, I obviously had to do a reinstall.  NOTE: S1 contains the R and S drives (SANs).  S2 contained the T and U drives (SANs as well).   I used the following site to check my install: http://www.sql-server-performance.com/articles/clustering/cluster_server_2003_p1.aspx  By: Brad McGehee   While installing a failover (active/passive node) everything was going well, until I got to the Cluster Group Selection screen.  Under Available cluster groups showed: Cluster Mgmt Group (this Group contains the Quorum Q drive). Under the Unavailable cluster groups showed:  SQL Cluster Group (SQLCLUSTER1) – Already contains a SQL Virtual Server and the next one, SQLCLUSTER2 – Already contains a SQL Virtual Server. Under Data files:  I tried to place the data on the T: drive and I received an error stating that I cannot put data on the same drive as the Quorum drive.   Prior to the reinstall of S2, I deleted/removed all SQL Server data on S2.  Perhaps, this is where my problem may lie. So, my first question is, do I need to reinstall S2? My second question is, could there be

disable required field validator at server side

Hi everyone,

my question is very simple. I had read through many post include this: http://blog.anasghanem.com/post/How-to-get-the-readonly-textbox-value-on-the-server-.aspx

I have a calender extender and the date was target to a texbox. This textbox, i had set it to readonly and it is validate by a required field validator. so mean this texbox must have a value inside. my prob is, i bind the textbox to database and if data is NULL or empty i can't save it because the required field validator was validate textbox as empty value at cllient side. If i remove the required field validator everthing fine. But this is not i want. I have try to set the textbox to javascript onCopy,onPaste, onkeyup. but user also can delete and paste into the textbox.

i have think to disable the requried field validtor at server side when data is inserted. Anyone know how?

Is it possble to create Active-Active Cluster in SQL Server 2008R2

Hi All,

Another question...
I am new to SQL Clustering.

Can we create Active-Active cluster on SQL Server 2008 R2 Server, which will be having facility to loadbalancing Databases on Clustered Hardware, i.e. some Databases will be on SQL_Cluster_Host_A and Some will be on SQL_Cluster_Host_B.

Or is there any way to configure the above thing?

e.g.

SQL_Cluster_Host_A will host Database 1,2.3.4.5 and SQL_Cluster_Host_B will host Database 6,7,8,9,10.
When Host A will fail all DBs will goto Host B, and vise versa.

Thanks.

Add a new passive node to set up Active/Active/Passive cluster

We have a SQL cluster server running with SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition SP2 on Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition.

Currently the cluster has 2 nodes with Active/Active. Now I need to add a new node as a Passive node. So after I have done it, the cluster will be a Active/Active/Passive cluster.

Because the cluster is a production server, I need to know exactly how I add a new node onto the current cluster without breaking anything. Also this is my first time to install a passive node, so it is difficult for me to understand how to install and configure it.

I have already added the physical node onto the cluster group so I can see the new node 'paused' from the Cluster Administrator.  Now I need to install the SQL but I am too nervous to run the installation p

Upgrading SQL2008 Cluster Active/Active Failing to upgrade 2nd node

I upgraded the 1st node of a SQL2008 Cluster on Windows 2003 sp2, and this was after correcting a SQL2008 Cluster install by uninstalling and removing a node.   It was stable when I began the R2 install.  The first node went as planned, but it will not move past the setup phase where it does the install of the setup files, and the log shows this:

Running Action: PostMsiTimingConfigAction
2010-11-04 09:52:52 Slp: The object state property 'workflow' is null/empty.
2010-11-04 09:52:52 Slp: Error: Action "PostMsiTimingConfigAction" failed during execution.
2010-11-04 09:52:52 Slp: Completed Action: PostMsiTimingConfigAction, returned False

I had previously tried to install R2 which led to some corruption and required me to correct the 2008 install.  Following the instructions here :
