Custom task user interface issue?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I have designed a custom task with a general view that holds a properties grid in a general view node. I have developed a custom editor to help user set the value of that property, Of Corse, I point my property to use that editor in design time using System.ComponentModel.EditorAttibuteClass . The editor appears as a modal dialog box.

The issue is that when I put the Dock property of the properties grid to Fill then the ellipsis button doesn't appear but if I set the dock property to None then it appears (I mean the ellipsis button) and then I can click it to configure the property though that Modal dialog box.

So the question should I do additional steps to avoid this anomally

Thank you

Large document libraries with a custom user interface

We recently migrated our document management system to SharePoint (WSS 3.0) and I adapted my VB6 client application to search for and retrieve a list of documents from this new SharePoint library using the Lists web service. Although the total number of documents in this library is 90,000 at one site and over 145,000 at another, my VB6 application never retrieves more than 600-700 documents at a time. From reading white papers such as "Working with Large Lists in Office SharePoint Server 2007" (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=95450&clcid=0x409), it appears that if my custom user interface limits the number of items returned in a search of these large lists, that it may not be necessary to put these documents into folders. However, our current scanning software, KnowledgeLake Capture, by default places newly scanned documents into folders based on the year, month, day and hour, which means that these documents are placed in nested folders 4 levels deep.

There are also some 20 metadata fields on these document libraries that allow us to filter these document libraries so that search results will in most cases be limited to a few hundred items.

We acquired new servers (Windows Server 2008 with SQL Server 2008) to host our SharePoint libraries and we are running WSS 3.0 S

Multilingual Interface (Hindi) custom, webpart issue disappearance in share point 2007

Hi This is regarding the disappearance of custom  web parts in the multilingual site developed using MOSS 2007. The multilingual feature has been implemented using variations. All the custom web parts disappear when viewed after some time.  When the custom web parts are deployed to the site, it appears and they disappear when viewed after some time.  I have done local deployment as well as GAC deployment of the web parts dll. Both have the same effect. I have added the respective resource files for the web parts in the user control folder.    Thanks In Advance uttam

Custom SSIS task inteface building issue

Hi all,

I'm tying to use the class foundation that SSIS provides to build interfaces like those of built in tasks

I tried to follow this tutorial

I added a Display text property to my task in order to display it when the task is fired, every thing goes well

except three  issues

1. The display value is not persisted( when I change it from the GUI inteface. It is only persisted if it is updated from the BIDS properties grid)

2. The buttons OK, Cancel, Help are not displayed at the buttom of the interface such in the rest of built in tasks, should I add them programmatically and  if it is the case how  do I to persist properties values when user clicks OK.

3. Some cells in the properties grid shows a combo box like those configuring  connection managers. For example one can expand the combo box and selects <New Connection...>

Or when one property grid cell get the focus then ellipses button appears when he/she clicks then the OpenDialogResult opens up

Or if one selects some properties grid cells then the properties grid changes by

Custom Task Type Name Issue

I am developing a custom task in VB.NET using VS2008.

My Project sets the Assembly Name to MyCompany.Dts.Tasks.MyTask, the Root Namespace is MyCompany.Dts.Tasks

All my classes define the namespace as MyCompany.Dts.Tasks

When I compile the class library, and view the component in the "Choose Toolbox Items" dialog in VS, the Type Name is:

Where is this extra decoration coming from?

Issue using Managed Metadata with custom fields in the User Profiles application

Hi there,

I've created several custom properties in my User Profile Application.

I've also created several Term Sets in the Managed Metadata service application Term Store for use with these custom properties. Some of the Term Sets contain terms and have a closed submission policy whilst others have an open submission policy.

If the user hasn't already populated any of these custom fields in their profile, when they click on the Edit My Profile link from their My Site Profile page everything seems okay (for the first time).

The user is then able to successfully select values for these custom fields - the metadata is available. They can click on the "tag" icon to select values, or start typing and the suggestions appear. They are also able to enter new values into custom property fields where the term set is open to submission.

If they then Save and Close then go back into Edit My Profile, often not all of the existing data is populated in the metadata custom fields. On different occasions different fields may be blank. Sometimes this is accompanied by the error "Message from webpage / The server method 'ValidateTerms' failed", but not always.

Has anyone else tried this or have any suggestions are to what the issue might be?

Thanks in advance.

Custom Task poeprties values persistance issue?

This is the case: I wrote a simple task that has one property Display text, it displays text once the package if fired. This built in task has an interface. The user should normally enter the display text property value and click OK then that value is persisted. If the user interface is closed then reopened then this value should be held as normally.

Should I write custom code to cache this value and then write a code to persist it or this is done through a provided way by the SSIS, I asked this question before and CosyRock oriented me to some code samples which I followed with a great intention but until now I couldn't figure out how to persist properties values.

In this case I use the IDtsTaskUI interface to tie the task to its interface and you know there isn't an Edit method such is IDtsComponent interface so I can imlement it to commit or rollback values?

 Thank you

User validation Issue in xlsx file

I am validating user from Login.xlsx file. It was working fine by validating email and password from that file. For testing i got new file same contents of file but added some more user names.

So after that when i validating the user i am getting the following error "Data type mismatch in criteria expression".

But when i replaced the new to old one it is working fine. The contens of both files are the same. So why this kind of error happened.

InfoPath: Turn User Input into XML with Custom Forms Using Office InfoPath 2003

Office InfoPath 2003 is a new Microsoft Office product that lets you design your own data collection forms that, when submitted, turn the user-entered data into XML for any XML-supporting process to use. With an InfoPath solution in place, you can convert all those commonly used paper forms into Microsoft Office-based forms and end the cycle of handwriting and reentering data into your systems. Today organizations are beginning to realize the value of the mountains of data they collect every day, how hard it is to access it, and are striving to mine it effectively. InfoPath will aid in the design of effective data collection systems. Here the author shows you how to get started.
