Suggestions on modelling the solution

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

I need some advice on how to model my codes.

My project is a WCFLibrary project, lets call it WCFLibraryA. Now WCFLibraryA has references to 5 other WCF services WCFRef1, WCFRef2, WCFRef3, WCFRef4, WCFRef5. All the 5 WCFRef have same operations, the only difference is in IP of hosted services

WCFLibraryA is referenced by a WPFClient. Depending on the value passed by WPFClient the WCFLibraryA opeartions must call the operations of respective WCFRef.

So if WPFClient invokes Method1(1) of WCFLibraryA; the WCFLibraryA must in turn invoke operation on WebRef1. Similarly if  WPFClient invokes Method1(2) of WCFLibraryA; the WCFLibraryA must in turn invoke operation on WebRef2.

This happens for all the operations of the WCFLibraryA.

A sample method stub for a WCFfLibrayA

int Getsomething(int id)

{ int r;

case 1:

r = webref1Proxy.getMeSomething();

case 2:

r =webref2Proxy.getMeSomething();

return r;

But then I will have to use switch case on all the operations.

What will be a better way to code this?

Business Modelling and Web Applications and extending UML

UML can be used to model a business, prior to automating it with computers. The same basic UML syntax is used, however, a number of new symbols are added, in order to make the diagrams more relevant to the business process world. A commonly-used set of these symbols is available in current versions of Rational Rose.

Multi-threading in .NET: Introduction and suggestions

This article uses the C# type shorthands throughout - int for Int32 etc. I hope this makes it easier for C# developers to read, and won't impede any other developers too much. It also only talks about the C# ways of declaring variables to be volatile and locking monitors. Developers using other languages can find the equivalents in their own preferred environment, I'm sure.

Need suggestions on Online Exam Application

  2. Questions should be choose randomly for each candidate.
    • What method should I use to choose the questions randomly?
  3. If anything  happened unexpectedly and application get closed during the online exam .I need to get the same group of questions for the specific candidate
    • How can we handle these kind of situation

Solution/project structure

Hello, I am working in a aspx web application that must be built in several separate "modules" with different functionality which will be partly developed by different teams.

However, I need the completed app to reside in ONE virtual directory. There will be a single startup page. I need session state to be preserved across pages in different modules.

I structured it as one solution with different Web Projects and one class library project with common functionalities.

1) is this the right approach to do this? Or which one would be better?

2) each time I add a new web project to the solution, a new web.config gets created. What do I do and where do I put them?

VS 2010 + framework 4.0 + TFS

Regarding TFS and source control, I have a single Team project, the solution and web projects are inside it.

Arabic QueryString with Url Rewrite Solution

Alsalamo 3alaykom ,

as we know that if you use Intelligencia.UrlRewriter.RewriterHttpModule or IIS URL Rewriting , we will face problems with arabic urls

as this

http://localhost:1234/Pages/???? ?????? ?????? ??????????

and the Rule is :

<rewrite url="~/Pages/(.+)" to="~/ShowPages.aspx?Page=$1" />

you will recive the QueryString["Page"] Like this

نائب العميد للشؤون الأكاديمية

so it's a big problem , and there is a solution that is :

remove the Rule of that rewriting ,,

<rewrite url="~/Pages/(.+)" to="~/ShowPages.aspx?Page=$1" />

then open your Global.asax file and Application_BeginRequest method exactly

use the following code to handle you request

void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e)
if (HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.ToString().Contains("/Pages/"))
	String[] txt= Regex.Split(HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.ToString(), @"/");
	String page = txt[txt.Length-1];

AD FS 2.0 in Identity Solutions: Using Active Directory Federation Services 2.0 in Identity Solution

This article explains how you can use Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) 2.0 to claims-enable Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) services and browser-based applications. The focus is on the token issuance functionality in AD FS 2.0. You'll find out how to use AD FS 2.0 as an identity provider; set up an AD FS 2.0 security token service (STS) to interact with WCF; federate AD FS 2.0 with your custom STS or another AD FS 2.0; enable Web single sign-on and federation with WS-Federation and SAML 2.0 protocols; and externalize authentication logic through Visual Studio. You'll come away appreciating how AD FS 2.0 and Windows Identity Foundation make programming identity solutions in Windows less of a chore.

Making auto suggestions more appropriate for your textbox

To round out my coverage of Input Contexts we need to cover the concept of Input Classes. Put simply an input class is a hint to the Windows Mobile OS as to what kind of information should be entered into a text box (for example an email address, phone number, or person's name).

Selecting an Input Class for a textbox will change the source of data used for the auto suggestions provided by the OS as the user starts typing. For example in the screenshot above you can see the user is typing in a person's name yet the operating system is suggesting matching cellphone numbers.

GridView Code Suggestions

I have a gridview which displays data from a database.

Everything works fine, the thing is that I haven't come with a method to do the next thing:

The gridview displays something like this:

Client - Total - Percentage

Ex1      1000    20%

Ex2      2000    40%

Ex3      1000    20%

Ex4      500      10%

Ex5      500      10%

This data might vary depending on the month selected etc etc....

What I want to do is that the gridview kind of check its rows and start summing the percentaje, when it sums 80% I want to color the rows that sum the 80% to one specific color then the rest of the rows  leave them with the default color or change it too.

I'm thinking that I might be able to do that with the row data bound event, but I just can't find the answer to do it, I know how to iterate through the rows to sum the values but then how I can tell it to stop if it reaches 80% and color the rows that completed that 80%.

Another thing, the rows that complete this 80% of course have to be the ones with the greatest percentages. In the example above it would be Ex1, Ex2, Ex3. That 80% percent can

Autocomplete with multiple word suggestions, How can we do in Asp.Net with Ajax?

Hi All,

Could you please let me know the process to get multiple word suggesions for a text box in asp.net using Ajax.

Actually I got a solution for that,

But it used Atlas. When I am running with this code in my application, it is conflicting with Script Manager that is already there in Masterpage.

How can I overcome that problem. Is there any built-in solution in latest versions of Ajax?

Thanks in Advance,
