Business Intelligence Development Studio

Hi There

I am completely new to this so i will try to tread carefully.

I have an SQL Database that i would like to Create a Cube Using The Business Intelligence Studio, im not sure if im in the right place but i am looking for some guidance trying to acheive something pretty straightforward.

I have imported a table into my cube and there are 2 columns that i am interested in they are Quote No and Quote date, and what i would like to be able to do is group all of the quote numbers into the month that they were generated and then slice the information into different years so that i can compare data and present it into sharepoint at a later date.

Is this possible and are there any good articles out there similar to what i am trying to acheive.

HttpHandler works with Visual Studio Development Server debugging, but not otherwise

Hi all,

I'm new to HttpHandlers.  I am writing an HttpHandler that reads uploaded files directly from the request stream to provide progress that can be queried using an AJAX request.  For large files, this seems to be faster than having ASP.NET load the file contents into Request.Files and then streaming the file from there to wherever it goes (Linq to SQL into a VARBINARY column in an SQL Server database.)

My HttpHandler works perfectly when I'm debugging using the Visual Studio Development Server, but doesn't work otherwise.  The application pool for this application in IIS 7 is set to run in Classic Mode, and the Handler Mappings screen in IIS says that I must manage managed handlers in system.web/httpHandlers.

I set up in my applications Web.config file.

<add verb="GET,POST" path="*.upload" type="Namespace.For.UploadHandler, AssemblyForUploadHandler"/>

It works great, so long as I don't debug with the "Use Local IIS Web server" option.

What else do I need to do to get this to work?

Visual Studio 2005: Bridge the Gap Between Development and Operations with Whitehorse

Microsoft is introducing a new suite of tools (code-named "Whitehorse") that will make it easier for you to design and implement systems that conform to a service-oriented architecture. Two of these tools -- the SOA Design Suite and the Class Designer -- support the graphical design of systems and components with support for code generation and support for bi-directional synchronization which lets you ensure that your diagram always represents your system design. This article introduces these tools and shows you how they'll improve your design and development efforts.

Office 2003: Secure and Deploy Business Solutions with Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Office

Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System is a new technology that brings the advanced features of Visual Studio .NET and the .NET Framework to applications built for Microsoft Office Word 2003 and Microsoft Office Excel 2003. Deploying solutions built with this technology requires that you understand how runtime security is enforced in managed applications and how to configure users' systems to run your solutions without introducing security holes. To promote that understanding, this article will demonstrate how to establish trust, explain policy considerations and permissions, and explain what trusted code is all about. Secure assembly deployment is also covered in detail.

Can't connect to SQL 2005 Enterprise using Management Studio with Server Name (only (local) works

This is a test system, everything running locally & no domains. Win 2003 Ent. Server & SQL Server 2005 Enterprise. I can't log into SQL Server Management Studio using the server name & using either Windows Authentication or SQL login. If I change the name of the server in the drop-down list to "(local)", I connect just fine (both Windows & SQL security modes). Shared Memory, Named Pipes & TCP/IP enabled in both server & client. Remote connections allowed. I have IP adresses (both & external IP) in my hosts file pointing to the server name. Does SQL require a DNS server? This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that I can't install SQL 2005 SP3 due to authentication failure since there's no way to enter (local) as the server name. SQL tools (management studio, SP install) seem to see the SQL server running but won't authenticate the user through any means other than setting server name to (local). This is driving me crazy!!!

Cannot Create Database Diagrams - SQL Server 2008 Management Studio

Sharepoint 2010 Business Intelligence integration with datasources other than MS SQL Server

I want to Implement Business Intelligence by SharePoint 2010 on top of data sources other than MS SQL Server or MS Analytics Services ( cubes ), for example Oracle RDBMS and Oracle OLAP ( cube ) or Teradata. Quesiton : Is there any way to do this, if the is, how do I bring metadata to sharepoint BI or how do I make SharePoint BI to see other data source. I've looked at Busines Data Connectivity in Visual Studio, but that is more for two way integration and didn't seem like a good or easy way just to bring new data sources to SharePoint BI I found some tool from third party company "BDC Meta Man" which created metadata layer for Oracle RDBMS in SharePoint, but I thought there must be a way to do it by using Microsoft tools
