Cannot Create SharePoint Web application IIS7 x64

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Enviroment: Server 2008 x64, IIS7, SharePoint x64 with SP1.

The install process when normally except when I visit the SharePoint Central Administration, the link "Create or extend Web application" in the Application Management page is missing.  Everything else appears normal.

Any ideas why the link is missing?  I can't create a site collection.

PS, I posted this on the iis.net Server2008 forum a few weeks ago and got no response.

Problem create a web application on SharePoint 2007 (Project Server 2007)

I installed a Project Server 2007 in a 3 server structure (all Win 2003 sp2; one for App server hosting Central Admin, Project Server service & Search service; one for web server; one for database server).  They are only in the same domain and I use the same network account for the installation as well as the WSS service account.  The same network are local admin for those 3 servers. All installation & patches seem ok (at least I don't get error messages) until I attempt to create my first Web Application.  After I filled out the web appliction and try to click OK, the page does not change and i saw the java error at the right bottom corner from my IE browser (version 6). The message is .... I installed and successfully setup development environment in win 7 ultimate through PowerShell. When I tried to create new web application in “Manage web application” option of central admin, I found “New” button greyed out. I applied all the solution while browsing internet:

1.       I run internet explorer as administrator

2.       I run central admin as administrator

My Dev Environment is  SharePoint 2010 on WIN 7. I have 2 users

2) Dinesh02\Dd – Also member of FARM Administrator

Now when I Sign-in with my account and use Manage Web Application link, on the Top Ribbon none of Button is enabled. I can not create Web APP nor Extend it.  When I select web application from list, some button are enabled but not all. Also I can see role as Contributor

This does not happen When I sign-in with Built-in\Administrator account.

Integrating a Legacy Web Application in SharePoint

This month we will continue with the theme of deploying Microsoft's SharePoint as a company intranet by describing a method for integrating a legacy Web application inside a SharePoint site.

In many companies the intranet site is not just a home page with announcements. It houses Web applications used by many different departments. In last month's article, I built a page to search the employee table in Northwind (the sample database included in Microsoft's SQL Server). This month, I will move the Web pages used to add/remove records from the table into the SharePoint intranet.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 1 of 2

In this first part of the two part series, Steven covers the differences between Site and Application pages in SharePoint 2007, why each may be used in various circumstances, and prepares for the construction of a menu located application page. After a brief introduction he examines the concept of Site Pages and Application Pages separately in detail with supported screenshots.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 2 of 2

As the second article in a two part series, Steven examines the attributes and details of a SharePoint 2007 application page, including the construction and feature deployment of the same page based project. Since this is a WSS level objective, as opposed to MOSS, you will not need MOSS to work with the code included in this project. Windows Server 2003, WSS, and Visual Studio 2005 are all that is needed, with no additional add-ons. He provides a detailed analysis of each step involved in the creation and deployment of the project.

Application Vs. Content Pages in SharePoint

SharePoint has two types of ASPX pages. One type is the application page, also known as a _layout page. The other type of ASPX page is a content page, also known as a site page. Each of these page types is stored in a different location in SharePoint. When developers create custom ASPX pages, they must decide on the page type.

How to create scrolling table for columns in a SharePoint Designer Data View

I have a fairly complex SharePoint Designer 2007 Data View they have added two more requirements.

1. Have the columns on the right side be able to scroll left to right as there is a large number of columns, while the first 3 columns on the left side stay locked in place.  This is only one list not two, and because of some other requirements I have it must remain to be just one list.

2. Then they also need to have scrolling up and down of the entire list with the headers locked in place.

The first requirement is more important than the second, but preferrably I need to do both.

I am new to XSL so not familar with the syntax. Is this something I can do on a custom Data View? Does anyone have any examples of how?

I have a drawing that show how it needs to look but I don't see an option here to upload a graphic.

So here is a link to my graphic example uploaded to my blog area: http://lindachapman.blogspot.com/  or just the image here: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_aB01ue__NvQ/TGL42MOvrGI/AAAAAAAAAA4/c3xP4uCy4BU/s1600/Scrolling.png

I failed to mention that 3/4 of the columns are HTML Calculated fields wh

What is the best way to Create Ageing Report in SharePoint 2007?

Hi Experts,

I need your point of view about this and please advise,

My client have made a request to generate Ageing Report thru their SharePoint 2007, FYI all invoice was scan and upload to sharepoint and save as PDF file under Document Library. During the scan, certain information will capture automatically and save it into field that we defined inside the Web Form.

Below is the basic input we capture:

Vendor Code, Vendor Name, Invoice Number, Invoice Date, Currency, Invoice Amount

Report Requirement (display list and group of:)

- Vendor Code, Vendor Name, No. Of Invoice, Total Payable, Ageing 0-30, Ageing 30-60, Ageing 60-90, Ageing>90

So my question is, what is the best platform to create this Ageing Report??

because when i try to design the report thru Visual Studio (Reporting Services), i can't identified which database should i connect and which table is store all the invoice information in SharePoint.

Any idea guys?? anybody have implemented it before??

How to create a custom Gantt Chart for SharePoint using VS

So I have been told you can't create a custom gantt chart using SharePoint Designer.  I don't believe that actually, there must be a way to create one from scratch using SPD and a Data View and editing the XSL directly....but assuming there is not..

Are there any articles that explain for a non-developer how to create a custom gantt chart for a SharePoint site using Visual Studio 2008?
