Microsoft SharePoint server 2010 encountered an error during setup. One or more required office comp

I am encountering this error during setup. The server previously had WSS 3.0 and the Group Board Workspace. I uninstalled those and installed sharepoint foundation 2010. Initially It was up and running but I was receiving errors trying to load the group space template, so I uninstalled SPF2010. cleaned up the registry pointers to the old WSS3.0 and Groupboard Workspace and tried to reinstall. Now I get the error

Microsoft SharePoint server 2010 encountered an error during setup. One or more required office components failed to complete successfully.

Looking into the issue it appears that setup cannot install the embedded sql server, since the logs indicate a dbwrap error. There are no "pendingfilerename" operations which fixed this problem for some. I tried to install as a farm but it won't allow me to use a local admin account.  I also looked at the sql configurations and the windows internal database is running.

Any ideas how to I can remove the windows internal database and reinstall SF2010?

Hi This has me somewhat perplexed! I am attempting to install a SQL Server 2005 KB970894 patch (having downloaded the patch to apply it locally rather than using Microsoft update - which also fell over) . Error saving Office 2010 files opened from SharePoint Server 2007

I have recently started testing Office 2010 and have found only 1 major issue - I cannot save any Office 2010 files opened from a SharePoint Server 2007 location.  Upon save I receive an error message saying "Upload Failed. This file wan not uploaded because the specified path was not found on the server." and the file is captured in the Microsoft Upload Center.  Using the Upload Center action 'Open Web Site' opens the site without problem; however, a all subsequent resolve actions fail.  Any ideas?

Office 2010 can not integrate with Sharepoint Server 2010 document library, both RTM

Hi I have one standalone SharePoint Server 2010 and Office 2010 on Windows Server 2008 SP2. Both SharePoint and Office are RTM. When I create new document from the document library, it can open the Office Word.  When I save the document, Office gives me the local browser dialog other than remote sharepoint library. When I try to enter the sharepoint site url in the dialog, it tells me: path does not exist. On another machine, Windows 7, the Office 2010 RTM can open and save docs from/into the document library. There seems something wrong with the Office client. Maybe someone can tell me how to fix it. Thanks. Do you need to license Office Web Apps seperate from sharepoint server 2010 enterprise license?

Hi All, I been reading this article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687.aspx#bkmk_ins_exis_farm  and have come to the conculsion that if you want word viewing services and power point services you need to license and download office web apps separate from the SharePoint Licensing/download. Can anyone confirm this that may know more about the subject? I thought those services would come along with enterprise but from what I’m reading I guess not.   Regards, Jeff

Currency and number column error with office 2007 document formats in SharePoint 2010 library

Hi there,

The following error occurred within a SharePoint 2010 document library:

As I tried to test out the new SharePoint 2010 environment I changed the metadata from a few documents within a document library. I noticed that the data from the currency und number field was incorrect from a few documents. The numbers looked like that the decimal separator were ignored. For an example: 123.456,78 was saved as 12.345.678.

At first I thought it could be a language incompabilty but if that would be the case: Why would there be other documents which show the correct number?

I created another document library to recreate this error. And there I noticed the real reason: Every time I changed these fields from a document which was saved in the office 2007 format the error occurred. The metadata from the documents in the office 2003 format were correct.

Has anyone a similar problem or got an idea how to solve this problem?

Sharepoint 2010, Constant prompt for credentials to edit office documents in a fqdn setup

Is there a solution to resolve the constant "Prompts" For user id's and passwords when a person tries to open/launch/edit office documents from sharepoint 2010.

My setup: sharepoint fqdn in the domain sp.domainname.local, The sharepoint server is a member of this internal domain. In dns I have local zone of sp.domainname.com with a cname that points to the internal sharepoint server. There is no issue in users accessing the server both internal and external, The issue arises when Office documents are launched from SP2010.

In central admin I have configured the alternate access mappings to be http://sp

I have also tried putting the fqdn dns name of the sharepoint server in IE8 trusted zone but
no luck, I still get credential prompts.

I think the issue might be that Office does not see that the files are coming from the fqdn of sp.domainname.com so hence the prompts.

Trying to fix this as right now its a total pita. I found some previous posts on this issue with SP2007 but found nothing that really addresses this in SP2010.

Thanks Paul
