FTP Task working in XP but not working in Windows 7/2008 machines

Hey , A FTP Task in IS pkg is working fine when executed through BIDS in my Win XP machine ..but the same package is not working in Win 7/2008 machine. FTP task fails with the error : [FTP Task] Error: Unable to connect to FTP server using "FTPFolder.TempData.com". Here are few facts about my troubleshooting : 1) From my XP machine... I am able to connect to the FTP Server using DOS Cmds but fails in 2008 machine saying "Unknown host" I did : Run>Cmd>FTP>Open FTPFolder.TempData.com 2) I can view the files on the FTP server through a browser ( URL was given )on both the machines with no issues. 3) I created Port exception for 20 & 21 Ports for 2008 machine ...still no luck. 4) When I PING the FTP server --Cmd>PING FTPFolder.TempData.com On XP Machine...though FTP Server Name is resolved to IP... I still receive "Request timed out." On 2008 Machine ...the IP is not even resolved and error is thrown "Ping request could not find host FTPFolder.TempData.com. Please check the name and try again." 5) I am connecting to FTP Server from my Office machines. I have searched all the threads on this FTP error topic and haven't found the apt thread..so I have opened a new one.

following proc works in 2005, and fails in 2008 returning "Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Invalid column name 'xxx' " message.  Anyone have any ideas? The proc alters an existing proc in another db to return a different value: existing proc: /******************************************************* USE [tstDB] GO CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[sp_GetName] AS SELECT "aaa" AS strDescription GO /******************************************************* proc to alter return value: /******************************************************* USE [srcDB] GO Drop Procedure up_chg_name go Create Procedure up_chg_name (@chgName varchar(20),@db varchar(100)) AS Declare @ls_sql nvarchar(255) set @ls_sql='USE '+@db+' EXECUTE ('' ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.sp_GetName AS SELECT "'+@chgName+'" AS strName '')' exec(@ls_sql) GO /******************************************************* execute the altering proc: /******************************************************* USE [srcDB] GO exec up_chg_name @chgName=xxx',@db='tstDB' go /******************************************************* this fails with: "Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Invalid column name 'xxx' message" - any ideas? WSDL not working for SQL Reporting Services 2008

I have seutp reporting services successfully, but now i want to generate a proxy to be able to interact progromatically with the reporting services 2008 like I did in 2000 and 2005.  I have tried viewing the WSDL from a command like this:   http://localhost/reportserver/reportservice.asmx?WSDL and I get an error like this:   The path of the item 'WSDL' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. (rsInvalidItemPath) Get Online Help Any thoughts?  I also tried from WSDL.exe, no dice. Thanksl Ben

how to make working WPF 2010 program make changes to SQL Server 2008 Express files

(1) I have a working WPF 2010 program that manipulates a table in SQL Server 2008 Express (2) the program does delete, update, select and insert correctly however in its own project file folder logbooklmk.mdf   logbooklmk_log.ldf (3) I want the actual SQL Server 2008 express files to be changed yes I know the issue is sharing and the copy option only applies to the local project files. I found this out by trying always copy, never copy and copy if newer. I probably have to change the .xsd folder to refer to the actual SQL Server 2008 Express file. Tried that once and it failed. Something about sharing not allowed.

CLR stored procedures asssemblies working in sql server 2005 but giving issues over sql server 2008

Hi I developed CLR stored procedures assemblies using VS2005 and deployed in sql server 2005 are working fine. Currently we are migrating to sql server 2008. The same CLR assemblies are not working in 2008 version and raising following error. Here i created CLR assemblies in sql server 2008 using 'sa' user account which is having db_owner permission over 'mydatabase'. I am getting an error message like "A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user-defined routine or aggregate". In sql logs showing messages like as -- Common language runtime (CLR) functionality initialized using CLR version v2.0.50727 from C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\. -- AppDomain 2 (mydatabase.dbo[runtime].1) created.   Please let me know what may be the cause for this type of issues. Is there any specific backward compatibility settings has to be done over sql server 2008 or sql server 2008 R2 while using 2005 CLR routines?   Thanks in advance.

2008 Report not working on 2005 report server

Hello, I have been researching this issue and it seems if I have created a report using 2008, I cannot upload it to a 2005 report server.

I just wanted to check and see if I have any other options than to re-create the report using 2005? Would copy/paste of the XML from 2008 to 2005 work?

Thanks! Linda

Format Code D0 is not working in SSRS 2008

We are trying to migrate all our RDL from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008.

In the rdl’s we defined format code for a  text box as “D0”  which is working fine in SQL 2005.

While migrating the rdl’s to 2008 it is not working and data is showing for that text box as “#Error”.

How to resolve this . I am having around 1000+ rdl’s to update with proper format string.

If I open the Rdl in BIDS I am getting below error.

[rsInvalidFormatString] The Format value for the textrun ‘textbox1_0_13.Paragraphs[0].TextRuns[0]’ is not valid. Format specifier was invalid.

[rsRuntimeErrorInExpression] The Value expression for

Storing image in sql express 2008 not working

I am trying to store an image into sql express 2008 and retrieve it on a php page.

I used the following query to do the storing:

    Id int,
    Name varchar(50) not null,
    Photo varbinary(max) not null

INSERT INTO Employees (Id, Name, Photo) SELECT 10, 'John', BulkColumn from Openrowset( Bulk 'C:\n502696575_60323_4407.jpg', Single_Blob) as EmployeePicture

then when I tried to retrieve it on my php page. only 1/3 of the image gets displayed. the image I uploaded was about 20kb in size, so I don't think it's because varbinary got maxed out. Can any one tell me what is going on?

property setting in report server (2008) config file is not working as expected.

I have set the <WorkingSetMinimum> property to 2.4GB in my reportserver 2008 config file.

By defintion, <WorkingSetMinimum> setting means,

  1. Lower limit of service memory consumption; memory will not be released if the consumption is below this amount, though the service will not reserve the designated amount of memory when it starts.
  2. If service uses more than the designated amout of memory, it will release back the memory only till this declared value and not beyond that, which means it should keep 2.4GB as designated.
