Problem with assembly reference not updating

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a solution A which references an assembly in solution B. I added the reference to the project in A by right clicking on the project > add reference, and finding the dll in the bin/Debug folder of the project in solution B in the Browse tab.
However, the reference to assembly B is not being updated in solution when I update the code in project B, even though I am making sure that I recompile the code in project B and then in project A. This means I am unable to debug A properly because the source code does not match the executable (I've checked and the location of the file the breakpoint is added to is correct).
I can go into the bin/Debug folder in project B, the date modified fields for the dll and .pdb files in

Problem with updating assembly references in IIS server

I have a website which is in a Projects directory. The IIS server is set up to point to that website (i.e. any changes in the /Projects version are visible in the wwwroot version), so I can run the website locally on IIS server.One of the libararies that there is an assembly reference to in the website has been updated. If I run the /Projects website using the local ASP development server (localhost), I can open up the files in the library that have been changed and put a breakpoint in them, which will be triggered whenever that section of code is executed.However, when I run the IIS server version in webroot, if I put breakpoints in the same files, the breakpoint icons disappear, and it says that the symbols have not been loaded for the current page (presumably because the file is new, but the old code is being compiled in the assembly?). I have checked, and the library reference is set to auto update, and has the correct path to the dll in the project's .refresh file.I'm confused about this, since I thought the IIS server version was pointing to the same website as the one in /Projects, which works. If anybody has any advice on things that I can check or how I can fix this, I'd be grateful.

MySql.Data assembly problem

I added refernece MySql.Data to my project. My web.config looks like that:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
                <add assembly="MySql.Data, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=C5687FC88969C44D"/>

But when in ServerExplorer I try "Add Connection..." I can't find "MySql Database" in the "Choose Data Source" dialog box?

What the problem can be?

Registering controls of current assembly object reference NOT set error

Hi There,

I have created a simple ASP.net Web Application (2.0) and have added a web user control.

Now in my page I have added this control but I have registered like this,

<%@ Register Assembly="WebApplication1" Namespace="WebApplication1" TagPrefix="Custom" %>

Which means I want to access all the controls in my current Web Application project

Then I have added my user control like this,

<Custom:MyUserControl ID="MyUserControl1" runat="server" PublicProperty="Hello" />

Every thing is fine but when I execute the project, NO control on my user control gets "instantiated" and thus I receive error "Object Reference Not Set"

Note that My Control has,

1) Public property PublicProperty as String

2) 1 Label control

In Load Event Handler I am setting Text property of Label Control to PublicProperty. Here object reference NOT set error occurs (which means Label control is NOT initialized).

I don't want to register my control using Src, TagPrefix etc. Any ideas?

The type 'DataGrid' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that

Hi; I'm new to WPF and I was going through the ExpenseIt tutorial on MSDN's website. The tutorial was working fine until I added DataGrid. I got the error message: "The type 'DataGrid' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies have been built."     I could not find a clear answer online of which assembly references to fix and how to fix them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!     Note: I'm running the following: Windows Vista 32-bit operating system Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0.30729.1 SP Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.5 SP1

Problem to create assembly which depends on other dll's from SQL Server

I am developing an application in .Net but I need to access to some procedures in ASP.Net since SQL Server.I have got it but i have problems to assembly the dll if it has dependencies of another dll's.I have read that if a dll need other dll it call it automatically but when I try to assembly my class in .NET there is the next error: Create failed for SqlAssembly 'ClaseEjemplo'. Assembly 'csyt.dal, version=, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=null.' was not found in the SQL catalog. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) Nevertheless if I the class hasn't another dependencies it works.The class I am trying to assembly is ClaseEjemplo.If I try to use the procedure of other class "'csyt.dal" I have problems.If ClaseEjemplo hasn't dependencies it works perfectly!My class ClaseEjemplo is: using System;using System.Collections.Generic;using System.Text;using Csyt.DAL;using Csyt.Info; namespace ClaseEjemplo{    public class Class1    {        public static long devolucion()        {            AIAlarmaDB.TipoCondicion aux1 = new AIAlarmaDB.TipoCondicion();                        AIAlarmaDB aux = new AIAlarmaDB();            aux1=aux.GetTipoCondicionById(1);            return aux1.Id;        }     }}Thanks in advance

Problem updating records with LINQ, Concurrency?

 My project includes a grid view with some updtable fields, some fields throw an error on update and some do not and it does not really make sense. WORK_STATION_ID does not cause an error, ROOM _ID cause an error, both are int? run-time error's do not jump to problem line but to assembly with some xml error.

  Used too, when there was a runtime error the ide would break at the line that caused the problem. Now I'm thrown into some assembly code with the error System.Windows.Markup.XamlParseException was unhandled   Message='The invocation of the constructor on type 'Main.MainWindow' that matches the specified binding constraints threw an exception.' Line number '4' and line   Which is extremely uninformative and inefficient. I can look down the chain to find the error thrown but this still is not very informative. How the heck can I get it back to the way it used to be? This has something to do with wpf and the assembly code has System.Windows.Markup.XamlReader.RewrapException as the address. I spend anywhere from 10x to 10000x as long because of this. If the code is simple then I still have to read the error code and click a button which takes time.   Also, I'd rather it break on the line and quit the process as it used to do. I don't need JIT debugging.

Sharepoint check-out document cross reference problem

Hi I have a problem with check-outed word document from Sharepoint Services 3.0. After I check-out document from Sharepoint, cross references in Word document stop working. After I click to cross reference (Ctrl+Click to follow link), Word show me warning message: "Some files can contain viruses or otherwise be harmful to your computer...Would you like to open this file". There is two buttons - OK and cancel. After pressing OK nothing happens. I have Sharepoint Services 2003 (clear installation, no custom code), MS Word 2007 and trying .doc file format. I tried this on two Sharepoints and two client computers, but it is the same. I tried http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B925757&x=8&y=9 , but did not help. How can I disable this behavior? Thanks

Reference a assembly compiled against .NET 4 CLR from a .NET 2 CLR

Hi, I just read this aricle http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee819091.aspx. In Figure 2 (Will These Runtimes Load in the Same Process?) You can read that it is OK to load an assembly compiled against .NET 4 CLR from an application compiled against .NET 2 CLR. But later in the aricle under "Library Developers and Consumers " you can read that it will not work for libraries. I have a web application (ASP.NET) compiled against .NET 2 CLR that needs to reference an assembly compiled against .NET 4 CLR. Will this work or not? I have tried it several times and it works fine. I don't understand the text in the aricle becase Figure 2 says it's OK but the text under "Library Developers" says it will not be OK. But for me it works. Maybe I have just had luck?

Problem updating a boolean field

I have a button in a listview that updates a boolean field for the selected record. The button calls a method (ObsoleteOffice) in my BLL that sets the field (IsObsolete) to true...please see below for the code. However, the IsObsolete field never gets updated, nor does it throw an error.  In addition, the method works with string fields just fine, but nothing happens with the boolean field.  I would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on what I am doing wrong. Thanks.   //Method: ObsoleteOffice [System.ComponentModel.DataObjectMethodAttribute(System.ComponentModel.DataObjectMethodType.Update, true)] public bool ObsoleteOffice(int officeID, bool isObsolete) { offices.OfficesDataTable offices1 = Adapter.GetByOfficeID(officeID); if (offices1.Count == 0) // no matching record found, return false return false; offices.OfficesRow office = offices1[0]; // office.DateModified = DateTime.Now; office.IsObsolete = true; //Update the office record int rowsAffected = Adapter.Update(office); //Return true if exactly one row was updated, otherwise false return rowsAffected == 1; }

VS 2010 Isolated Shell, WPF Designer & Custom Controls produces some assembly reference errors

Hello, i currently try to use the VS 2010 isolated shell for providing a custom WPF editor.As described in the headline the WPF designer is 'partly' not able to find all assemblies (details below). After some research the only similar problem description i found here . Unfortunately I could not find any solution for my problem there. These are the steps i have successfully finished: - create a vs isolated shell application with some basic extensions (some tool windows) - create a Custom Project template based upon the MPFProj project (as describe at: here ) - Add the needed reference for custom control in project template - Create and edit XAML markup (no code behind, only markup) - Compile and run XAML Now, the following problem occurred (as a step by step description): - I add a custom control to the toolbox using the context menu "Choose Items..." (ok ) - I drag this custom control from the toolbox into the WPF designer view (ok ) - The custom control is rendered correctly and no assembly reference errors occurred (ok ) - I hit the F5 button in order to execute the XAML markup -> The application is starting correct and looks as exspected (ok ) - I close the running application (window) -> Now the WPF designer view seems to refresh and 'tells' me that an assembly (the one of the custom control) could not be found (error!!! ): There error text is: "Th
