Connection to Exchange Server of .NET 1.1 Framework application on Windows 2008 64-bit

I am running Visual Studio 2003 .NET Framework 1.1 application on Windows 2008 64-bit machine. There is only one problem - connection to Exchange Server. The same application is running fine on Windows 7 64-bit machine (not server). I tried to use the same Interop.MAPI.dll I used for Windows 7, but it doesn't work for Windows 2008.   Please help.

Deadlock issue in SQL Server 2008 R2 (.Net 2.0 Application)

The Sql Server 2008 R2 instance in question is a heavy load OLTP production server. The deadlock issue came up a few days back and is still unresolved. We received the Xml deadlock report that listed the stored procedures involved in the deadlock and some other details. I'll try to list down the facts from this xml first: Two stored procedures are involved in the deadlock, say SP1 and SP2. According to the report SP1 was running in Isolation level "Serializable" and SP2 was running in "ReadCommitted" . We have investigated the following: Are we setting IsolationLevel of SP1 to "Serializable" inside SP or in Code? - No. Is any other SP whose IsolationLevel is "Serializable" calling SP1? - No. Are the table used by SP1 called by any other SP that has Isolation Level as "Serializable"? - Yes. There are SPs that have Isolation Level set to "Serializable" and access the same tables as SP1, but we don't know whether they were running at the time of deadlock or not as the deadlock report only showed SP1 and SP2. Lines of thought: We have considered the following possible causes: Deadlock is occurring because SP1 is running as "Serializable". - Why is this SP running in Serializable when I haven't set it? Is the Isolation level escalating (like locks do)? If we figure this out and make it run as ReadCom

Your version of SQL Server 2008 isn't compatible with this version of Windows

Fresh Win7 Ultimate install. Fresh VS2010 Ultimate install. Now trying to install Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Management Studio Express. I get a dialog that says, "Your version of SQL Server 2008 isn't compatible with this version of Windows." There is a link provided Click to download the update from the Microsoft Corporation website. That link leads me to the download for SQL Server 2008 Express Edition Service Pack 2 – CTP. And THAT link leads to a VERY scary installer. Is this REALLY what I'm supposed to do? Thanks Eric

Kindly help me as soon as possible.

The Application is performaing very slow after upgrade to SQL Server 2008 x64

Hello All,

I am writing you all after I tried a lot of solutions to resolve my Issue, please find below my issue details..

Task: Upgrade from SQL Server 2000 Ent. Edition to SQL Server 2008 X64 for IA on windows server 2008 Clustered environment (Active\Active)

SQL Server 2008 Servers HW configuration:

  • 24 GB Of Ram
  • 2x Process or dual core
  • SAN storage
  • up to 1 Tera Storage

SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser null in application page on 2008 r2 server

With my current situation I have:
a wss3 development environment on a 2003 R2 server
then a production 2008 r2 server.

For some reason on the 2008 server the SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser object is null for users who are site collection administrators but may not have permission to log into the server itself; however, on the 2003 R2 server the code works fine for those users.
When googling around, I had seen something about nt permissions on the bin folder sometimes being and issue until asp.net cache picks up the dll but this is a page in the _layouts directory and the code is in the .aspx page itself. It works fine for me as a system administrator on either machine.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

MDAC 2.5 on Windows Server 2008 R2, compatible?

I have a .NET 3.5 applications that references a .dll created using VB6.  This VB6 application references the MDAC 2.5 data objects library.  Looking at this page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms810805.aspx, it doesn't look like Windows Server 2008 R2 doesn't even support MDAC 2.5.  Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Thanks so much.

Seven reasons to care about SQL Server 2008 R2

Microsoft begins to fully realize its vision of SQL Server as an information platform and not "just" a database. Hence the main theme for this release -- at least according to Microsoft -- is self-service BI. The PowerPivot plug-ins for Excel 2010 and SharePoint 2010 are easily going to make the biggest splash of all the new features, not least because they're the most complete. But then, SQL Server 2008 R2 isn't strictly necessary for PowerPivot for Excel, which works with plenty of other data sources.

sql server 2008 adventureworks database

dear Friends

For my MCTS 70 -433 examination, I recently installed sql server 2008 and installed the sample databases too. but my issue is, in that book they have mentioned a database called "AdventureWorks2008" and the nice thing is I don't have a such a database with me in my sql server 2008.

And the query is

-- MERGE Statement
USE AdventureWorks2008
MERGE INTO	Sales.SalesOrderDetailHistory AS SODH
USING Sales.SalesOrderDetail AS SOD
ON SODH.SalesOrderID = SOD.SalesOrderID
AND SODH.SalesOrderDetailID = SOD.SalesOrderDetailID
INSERT (LineTotal, SalesOrderID, SalesOrderDetailID, CarrierTrackingNumber, OrderQty
, ProductID, SpecialOfferID, UnitPrice, UnitPriceDiscount
, rowguid, ModifiedDate, Cancelled)
VALUES(LineTotal, SalesOrderID, SalesOrderDetailID, CarrierTrackingNumber, OrderQty
, ProductID, SpecialOfferID, UnitPrice, UnitPriceDiscount
, rowguid, ModifiedDate, DEFAULT)
UPDATE SET SOHD.Cancelled = 'True'
OUTPUT $action , inserted.* ;

Please help me to overcome this issue and let me know where can I download that database too.

Thanking you

happy Coding

Word Automation Issue in Windows Server 2008 Hosting

The problem I am posting here is that I was facing nearly 2 weeks around. Any body comes with this stuff please help.

Word Automation in sample ASP.NET(C#) application.

I am using Microsoft.Office.Inetrop.Word Assembly for automation. Here I am reading a XXX.dot template file and fill the contents with dynamic data.

When i am executing my code in localhost:someportnumber the automation is working fine and I could get expected result and when I am hosting in my inetmgr(Windows XP is my OS) it is also working fine.

But the problem is that when I am hosting in my production server(Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition) I am not able to perform automation and results in the following error.

Data: System.Collections.ListDictionaryInternal
Message: Word has encountered a problem.
Source: Microsoft Word

The code gets failed in the following line:

ApplicationClass wordApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.ApplicationClass();

Document wordDoc = wordApp.Documents.Add(ref oTemplate, ref oFalse, ref oMissing, ref oMissing); // Error in this line

I cannot able to proceed further. Can anybody please help me in solving this issue?

Thank you.

With Regards,

VS 2008 Web Application Project

Hi, I am working on a VS time clock project to be used for student's to clock in and out. When the student clocks in the time/date is saved to a temp table. Upon login out to the login screen for the next user to use I need to save the clocked in time to a permanate table. It is an update from the temp table to the permanate table. However, when the page redirects to the login page, I recieve the dbnull to date is invalid error. Now understand, when the page is redirecting to the login page for the next user, the only way I could figure out to get the browser to forget the sessionstate, was to use a delete statement that removes the data from the perm table, but before it erases it, I need to save it to the permanate database table.

Anyone have a solution they can send my way??

Thanks :)

No ASPNET User in Windows Server 2008?

I have been looking everywhere online regarding this, but have not found a clear answer.

I have an ASP.Net app running on Windows Server 2008, it's basically a reporting app using Crystal Reports. I have encountered a roadblock in regards to rendering some pages. When I run the app in Visual Studio(on the same 2008 machine) everything works perfectly. Yet when I publish it and run it live the reports will not display correctly, I get a message saying Failed to render page.

I looked this error up in the Crystal Reports website and the fixes they have there refer to giving the windows "aspnet" user full access rights to certain folders on the machine. I would be happy to do this, however there is no aspnet user in Windows Server 2008.

I installed the server and set its role to be Web Server. I also checked all the options regarding ASP.Net and IIS 6 compatibility. Yet there is no ASPNET username anywhere.

Did I set the server up wrong? or do I have to do something within ASP.Net to  create this user and then give it rights?

Not working on Windows Server 2008

I had the CSS friendly adapters working great on our old server (windows server 2003 - 32bit) and now we have moved to a 64 bit environment and now I can not get the CSS friendly adapters to work.

We are using SharePoint 2007.

Is there another work thru for 64bit environment.

I notice windows server 2008 has a directory  C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64 would I be using the browser file in this directory???

Please help!
