WPF examples: the very basics of the ContentControl

At the very base, we have controls and containers, or as I found somewhere, "bits of content and behavior" and "containers of bits of content and behavior". However, there are 2 special things about the content containment.

Explanation of Diva Component API

What is the Component API?

The Diva Component API is a part of the Diva SDK. The Diva SDK enables the development of applications that use Dialogic's Diva hardware adapters and Diva SoftIP virtual adapters to implement a wide variety of functionality. Note that Diva Client products are not supported.

The Diva SDK consists of these three main APIs:

* Diva API - for C and C++ applications
* Diva Component API
* Diva API for .Net

The Diva API is designed to make the Diva family easy to use with Visual C and C++ (see the Using the Diva API with Visual C++ training course).

The Diva Component API consists of COM components that make using the Diva family even easier for programming environments that have built-in support for COM such as Visual Basic 6, Visual Basic 2005 and Visual C#. The current version of the Component API (4.0) has only minor differences in functionality compared to the Diva API for C++. These differences mainly affect programmers writing passive monitoring and recording applications.

The Diva API for .Net provides a convenient framework for using all the functionality of the Diva API for C++ in C# applications. This option is particularly useful for developers who are writing monitoring applications in C# or for developers already familiar with using the Diva API with C++ who are now migrating to C# in order to make use of th

BDC need explanation about parameter, filter and OOB WP

Hi, I'm actually working with BDC and I have to say I'm really disappointed about the documentation I found. So I have many questions and I hope some people will be able to help (at least partially) as I'm getting crazy. 1. When we have a BDC Data List WP with some filters is there a way to get ride of the filter "form" on top of the WP? 2. When we have a method with parameters in the ADF (a finder method). How are the parameters passed to the method (when we use a BDC Data List WP for example). How about programmatically? Is it necessary to associate a filter to the parameter (in the ADF)? 3. For an entity in the ADF is it possible to have more that one Finder/SpecificFinder method. If yes how the OOB WP manage it?

print friendly linkbutton examples

using asp.net/vb.net 2005.I have to create 2 print friendly buttons for a page, 1 is to create a print friendly version of a page inside  a div and the second to create the same but the area to print is instead inside an <asp:Panel>.I assume using javascript to open a new window and then displaying the div or panel would be the best way, I've done this in the past but dont recall all the details.Does anyone have any good samples for doing something like this?  thanks

Don't Understand Checkpoint / Buffer Cache Explanation in BOL

Checkpoints and the Active Portion of the Log     ? Checkpoints flush dirty data pages from the buffer cache of the current database to disk. This minimizes the active portion of the log that must be processed during a full recovery of a database. During a full recovery, the following types of actions are performed: The log records of modifications not flushed to disk before the system stopped are rolled forward. All modifications associated with incomplete transactions, such as transactions for which there is no COMMIT or ROLLBACK log record, are rolled back.   I don't understand this BOL page... From what I read in the first sentence above, the following must be true: I understand that SQL Server apparently doesn't save updated data directly to disk but stores it in RAM (the so-called Buffer Cache) until either this RAM buffer is full or until a checkpoint operation is executed.   If this is tue, Isn't this quite dangerous? What happens if the server is powered off? Are all updates that had been stored in the Buffer Cache / Log Cache lost? After a server restart, how can "The log records of modifications not flushed to disk before the system stopped" possibly be "rolled forward" if they had been stored in the Buffer Cache? After a server restart the Buffer Cache and the Log Cache must be empty! So there are no unsaved l

Realtime examples on OOP's in asp.net website developing

FindControl - basic explanation for a moron like me...

ASP 3.5

Dim control as Control

control = Page.ParseControl("<tr><td><asp:textbox id='textbox1' runat='server' /></td></tr>")

This as simple as I can make it.

So, in QuickWatch, I can see:

control.Controls(0) is a literalcontrol

control.Controls(1) is a textbox with id, clientid and uniqueid all set to 'textbox1'.

So the 64k question:

Why does control.FindControl("textbox1") return Nothing? I really don't get it. I know that FindControl is not recursive, but textbox1 is in the controlscollection of the root control! Please explain - this is driving me nuts...

Need quick "Pick Activity" Explanation if someone has time :)

I have a workflow I want to call with Invoker...now depending on where it's called I want it to run one of two sequence activities to the end then complete the flow

Is pick not the right Activity to accomplish this?  I'm getting caught up on what the "Trigger" would be.  I could also do it in a flowchart with a Switch...is that the PROPER place to do it?

WPF PageFunction: Exceptions in downloaded examples

I am looking at the Page-Functions so I read the documantation and downloaded some examples.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa972122.aspx: Structured Navigation Sample
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa972123.aspx: the wizard sample.

I get an error in all the examples.

When I start with the first example and I click on the first arrow just after the window opend (wich should not be working at all and is greyed-out) I get the error: System.ArgumentException: De aangevraagde waarde LINKS is niet gevonden.

 Whenever I go to the first navigation-page and try to insert a text in the textbox it fails on the statement:
System.ArgumentException was unhandled

Examples of accessible sites

There would be benefits for us all (I think) if we could make a list of SharePoint sites that are accessible, sites we could show clients that don't believe that this can be done with SharePoint.

Lets help eachother and make a list!

date format examples: Dumb question

I can't find a table that shows what different SSIS data flow date formats look like.

What IS a dt_dbdate, vs. a dt_dbtime or a dt_dbtimestamp?

I know these must be right under my nose on MSDN somewhere.

All I can find is http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141704.aspx.
