MultiView issue with validation in form

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 26, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi all,

Currently I am working on a user control which has the following "layout":

  • the user control elements are placed inside an Update Panel
  • inside the Update Panel I have a MultiView control with 4 views:
    • first view 2 buttons to select the type of the user to create (clicking one button changes the active view to the second view, clicking the other one activates the third view)
    • second view is for the form used to create a user type
    • third view is for the form used to create the other user type
    • forth view should be used to display the confirmation message for the creation of both user types

In both forms, besides he usual textboxes I am also using validation controls to make sure the data the user inputs is correct.

However, I have a problem in case the data is invalid (the user doesn't input some mandatory field): for a very short period of time I see the * next to the mandatory field and the error in the validation summary, but immediately the active view is switched back to the first view in the MultiView control.

How can I force the control to stay on the view with the selected form?

Any ideas, suggestions or comments are welcomed!

Thank you in advance!

Andrei

User validation Issue in xlsx file

Hi,

I am validating user from Login.xlsx file. It was working fine by validating email and password from that file. For testing i got new file same contents of file but added some more user names.

So after that when i validating the user i am getting the following error "Data type mismatch in criteria expression".

But when i replaced the new to old one it is working fine. The contens of both files are the same. So why this kind of error happened.

-Thanks

C++ at Work: Form Validation with Regular Expressions in MFC

I thought I'd use this month's column to describe an interesting app I built using the RegexWrap library described in my article "Wrappers: Use Our ManWrap Library to Get the Best of . NET in Native C++ Code" in this issue.

Commerce with ASP.NET: Leverage the Authentication and Form Validation Features of ASP.NET to Bolste

If you're planning to build an e-commerce site, you'll be pleased to see that ASP.NET makes it easier than ever. Existing controls can be used and extended to add a great deal more functionality than you might expect. In this article, forms-based authentication is used to verify the identity of users and make certain areas of the site, such as the check-out page, inaccessible to unauthorized users. The power and flexibility of validation controls are demonstrated using the CustomValidator control to connect to a Web Service that verifies addresses. A shopping cart is then implemented in ASP.NET using the DataGrid, and finally, credit card authorization and billing are performed.

ASP.NET: Selectively Enable Form Validation When Using ASP.NET Web Controls

Sometimes the extra controls that come with Visual Studio .NET can be a bit inflexible or they just don't provide enough functionality or flexibility for all situations. The ASP.NET form validation controls, while powerful and easy to use, require that the entire page be valid before it's submitted back to the server. Through the use of the new object-oriented features of Visual Basic .NET, it is possible to extend their functionality to overcome this limitation. This article tells you how and helps you decide when it's a good idea to keep validation on the client and when you'd be better off disabling it.

Still i have no idea how to come up with an expression for such purpose. Can someone please explain.

Issue in Infopath 2007 browser form - cascading dropdown using owssvr.dll filter view

Referring the below link, I created a cascading dropdown. The parent dropdown has sharepoint list as datasource and the child dropdown has xml datasource that points to owssvr.dll filter view. The cascading drop down works fine in preview but throws error after publishing as admin approved form - "form cannot run the specified query" exception when trying to execute xml datasource i.e., when a value is selected in parent dropdown. The security is 'Full Trust". In the event viewer the error message states "401 unauthorised" for the user a/c. the xml data source is an approved udcx file and in central admin, have enabled cross domain for infopath service. I have tried different solution provided in tech forums but issue still exists. Not sure whether Im missing something. Can someone guide me in fixing this issue?

XmlReader.Create(textReader, XmlReaderSettings) Validation Issue

For the most part, when I perform an XmlReader.Read() I am catching validation errors based on my schemas.  This, however, is a large group of schemas with several imports and includes.  My question is why I'm having validation errors in two places that seem to be defined in the schema.   Here's an example:   Schema 1 (you can see that IdentificationType has sub-elements for IdentificationID and IdentificationCode):   <xsd:complexType name="IdentificationType">                 <xsd:annotation>                         <xsd:documentation>A data type for a representation of an identity.</xsd:documentation>                         <xsd:appinfo>                                 <i:Base i:namespace="http://niem.gov/niem/structures/2.0" i:name="Object"/>               &nb

Infopath 2010 Browser Based Form Vs Infopath 2010 Filler Based Form Issue

I have created a detailed infopath form that is connecting to multiple sharepoint lists, some of which contain thousands of rows and dozens of columns.  To tailor for the data load i have enabled the form to only pull in data as needed and on some of the lists i have created 5 or 6 data connections to the same list, each only looking at a certain set of data, and as you make your way through the form selecting your options, the data is pulled in. If i preview this form from within Infopath or if i launch it using Infopath filler this works great, the data is pulled through in under a second.  However if i then publish the form to the browser and launch it through the browser, it now takes roughly 30 seconds to pull in the data. My question is therefore this,  Is there something i can do to speed up the way the data is pulled in when launched through the browser?  are there transport protocols i can alter or something like that? maybe config in central admin or infopath config? any help would be gratefully appreciated as if i can not get the form to pull the data in fast through the browser then the whole project is a waste of time as my management team will never go for the solution if it is slow and will get slower as more data is added. thanks

XML schema validation issue

In case a particular node is mandatory, the error described is for the next sibling. In case there exists a error for the next sibling as well. That error message is supressed. On resolving the first issue, and running the validation again, the second error is thrown. Is there a way we can set options on the schema validation, so that we can receive both errors at the same time. For example we have a xml with the following nodes <NM101></NM101> <NM102></NM102> <NM103></NM103> Here NM101 is a mandatory node and NM102 has type as integer. In case we receivethe below xml <NM102>ABC</NM102> <NM103>DEF</NM103> Error: The element 'NM1' has invalid child element 'NM102'. List of possible elements expected: 'NM101' But the error for NM102 is now supressed and can be retrieved only when NM101 is present. Is there a way that all errors can be reported at the same time ?Swapnil Kasodekar

Issue with validation using IDataErrorInfo with int range

Hi, I have a textbox which takes only numbers as input. Textbox has binding with int type property. <TextBox Name="TXT_From" Text="{Binding Path=Range, UpdateSourceTrigger=LostFocus,<br/>  ValidatesOnDataErrors=True, Mode=TwoWay}" /> public int Range { get { return (int)GetValue(RangeFromProperty); } set { SetValue(RangeFromProperty, value); } } public static readonly DependencyProperty RangeFromProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("Range", typeof(int), typeof(MyClass)); In IDataErrorInfo I am doing some auto correction of values. public string this[string property] { get { string msg = null; switch (property) { case "Range": if (Range < 0) Range = 1; if (Range > Max) Range = TempMax; break; default: throw new ArgumentException("Unrecognized property: " + property); } return msg; } } Now the issue is when I enter value greater than 2,147,483,647 which is max value for int the IDataErrorInfo member public string this[string property] is not getting called, also it displays red bordered textbox. I want to avoid this validation and dont want restriction on value input. How to achieve this?

Data form web part issue with pagination

I have a data form web part which I put inside a user control. I have an issue with the default pagination. Clicking the previous button on the pagination causes a "Webpage is expired" error. I've tried copying the code from the next button but it doesn't work and I've also tried caching my pages still nothing. I read somewhere here that someone was able to implement the previous button pagination from code behind but he still hasn't replied to my question. Does anyone else know how to implement this from code behind? Really need help with this.

Form Validation, BindingGroup, CommandBinding, Disabling Commit Button

Hi, I've been struggling with this for a few days and I couldn't get a clear and simple answer anywhere. Now that I've fixed the problem on my end, I figured I would share. The approach is about disabling a "Commit" button (Save/Apply/OK/whatever) whenever an error exists in the form. Basically, I have a form with several different controls (textbox, combobox, checkbox to name a few). All of them are bound to a custom object within my code, that I referenced using "RootGrid.DataContext = myObjectInstance". They also use BindingValidationRules, so the user is warned that they have wrong data in there. There's plenty of information about how to achieve this on the internet - but the real question mark is: how can I disable a button if there are errors in the form? First, go ahead and make those control validations work. For example, write a ValidationRule for a textbox to make sure it's only numbers in there, and then another ValidationRule for another textbox that ensures no digits are contained. Once again, google is full of examples on how to achieve this. Then, you need to group all of those controls into a BindingGroup. Before doing so, we will design a ValidationRule that will ensure the BindingGroup is free of validation errors:   public class ErrorFreeBindingGroup : ValidationRule { private string _errorMessage; public str
