SSAS - Measure sign flipping of FormatString

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi all

I was wondering what the best way is to flip the sign of a measure's FormatString (not the value).

I need to flip the sign of my measures for display purposes only for certain scenarios (for example for the scenario Actual vs Plan). The calculation of the roll-up must take place using the "normal" unflipped sign.

I was thinking to do it in a similar way than the following currency flipping example

AS [Measures].[Fact Value],

FORMAT_STRING = “Currency”,

SCOPE([MEASURES].[Currency Test]);

SCOPE([Account].[Account Structure].&[2]);

SCOPE([Account].[Account Structure].&[4]);

Is there a better way to do it. Many thanks in advance

SSAS 2008 Measure group Distinct count

Hi all, I have a data of as number of trasactions,DD, SO, BouncedDD, CancelledDD all are in count (number) while adding these measures manullay to a measure group I have selected usage as DistinctCount for one measure and for all the remaining measures as DiscinctCount.While deploying the cube it shows error as "Fact table canot have more than one distinct count"

SSAS 2008 - I cannot seem to have semi-additive and normal additive measures in the same measure gro

I have a measure group with both conventionally aggregated measures (aggregation type SUM) and semi additive measures (LastNonEmpty). The cube processes them quite happily, and I can view and analyse (slice) them fine, but when I analyse them both together, then the conventionally aggregated measures (aggregation type SUM) always dissapears in favour of the semi additive measures. This is not the case if I analyse conventionally aggregated measures (aggregation type SUM) and semi additive measures (LastNonEmpty) from different measure groups.Why does this happen, and is there a way to overcome this by pref not creating seperate fact sources for the conventionally aggregated measures (aggregation type SUM) and semi additive measures (LastNonEmpty) currently in the same fact source.

SSAS Claculated Measure ignore empty rows issue

I have a calculated measure [Revenue Varaiance] which is basically a variance of current year and lastyear Revenue.

Last year Reveue Measure name is [Pyr Revenue Actual] and for current year  is [Revenue Actual ]

Equation for my Revenue Varaiance is given below.

IIF([Measures].[Pyr Revenue Actual]=0,IIF([Measures].[Revenue Actual]=0,0,1),([Revenue Actual]-[Pyr Revenue Actual])/[Pyr Revenue Actual])

SSAS Calculated Measure YTD using Named Set

I have a time dimension in my SSAS 2005 cube called [Fiscal Period Hierarchy] (Year-Quarter-Month-Day].

When the user selects multiple days, I need to show the YTD, MTD, and last YTD for those days.

I have named set in my cube called [Day] which uses {existing [Fiscal Period].[Fiscal Period Hierarchy].[Day]}

Under the script view, I created a calculated measure for YTD as follows

 AS Aggregate
( PeriodsToDate([Fiscal Period].[Fiscal Period Hierarchy],
Tail(existing [Day].[Fiscal Period].[Fiscal Period Hierarchy].[Day]).Item(0)),
[Measures].[Sales (CDN)]),
VISIBLE = 1  ;

Could you please let me know how to change this as the cube browser shows 'The YTD function expects a member expression for the argument. A tuple expression was used.'

Same measure group for count and distinct count in SSAS

Hello there,

I need to make DistinctCount aggregation of few columns in the same fact table in SSAS. For each DistinctCount it creates a new measure group. I need to put all these under same measure group. Please let me know how to go ahead.

Passport Secure Sign-In: Provide Your Users with Secure Authentication Capabilities Using Microsoft

Secure sign-in, a new feature in version 2.0 of the .NET Passport single sign-in and profile service, is a functionality that will be especially useful for sites containing confidential information or anywhere security is a primary concern. Such sites include banks, medical sites, and so on. Secure sign-in is as safe as any SSL-based Web site login used today and provides a way to virtually eliminate vulnerability to replay and dictionary attacks.This article explains secure sign-in and demonstrates how you can implement this feature with very little effort in either ASP using the Passport.Manager COM object or in ASP.NET using the .NET class PassportIdentity.

Infopath cannot load this form. Either the signature is corrupted, or the certificatie used to sign

I have a whole bunch of forms contains errors like whenever you try to open it up.

Infopath cannot load this form.  Either the signature is corrupted, or the certificatie used to sign this form is expired or revoked.

The forms were orginally created with digital signature with it.  But we were in the middle of transition from one company to another company.  The digital signature was no longer valid.  Actually, the certificate should have been expired by now.  I removed all the signatures for all of the forms.  So they can continue using the forms to fill in the information.  The problem right now, is trying to open the old forms with digital signature on it.   Not only the company has changed.  We also moved sharepoint from the old server to the new server.

Any idea to resolve th

Kerberos between MOSS 2007 and SSAS 2005

I realize this is probably going to be one of those vague questions that I am not going to get much help on here, but I thought I'd give this a shot before we go the MS Incident route on monday.

We have tried to setup Kerberos between MOSS 2007 AND SSAS 2005 to no avail.  We have been through the knowledge base articles outlining the setup multiple times with all the experts on MOSS and Security here where I work.  We've used other materials we have on kerberos here.  But the end result is that the double hop is not happening.  We are trying to connect three ways: excel services, ssrs 2005 in integrated mode, and Sharepoint KPI's (using analysis services).  In every case the connection is not happening.

Other details are that the ssrs integrated mode seems to be setup right because I do get a report (albiet all it has is a connection error message).  Excel services works fine if I use the unattended service account, but when I switch the odc file to windows (should cause kerberos to kick in) it fails.  When I try to add a kpi to the kpi list it can't retrieve a list of kpi's from ssas.

In all cases I am the user trying to perform these operations, and I have total access to the cube -- I'm the developer.  I have no problems connecting to the cube directly through excel, so the security at that end passes t

Sign out issue with IE7 of MOSS application.

Hi All,

I have a sign out issue with my moss application in IE7:

1) When I log in and attempt to log out immediately, the log out function hiding behind this drop down menu did not work.it left me logged in.The logout does not in fact log out the user.

2) When i click sign in as different user, it logs out the user and cant sign in again using same browser page , i need to restart the browser.

Am not able to fix this issue actually,might be we need to make some changes in internet options or something???

I do not know what really is happening.

Decision tree dependency measure

The dependency network viewer executes the stored procedure System.Microsoft.AnalysisServices.System.DataMining.DecisionTreesDepNet.DTGetNodeGraph which yields some integer measure that represents the strength of influence of input variables on the output variable. How this measures are calculated (information gain, chi-square, correlation etc)? It seems as if conditional influences are not taken into account: if A and B are two major factors which impact variable C, but A and B are strongly correlated so that C given A is not dependent on B, dependency algorithm will still depict B as the second major factor. Am I right? So there is no analogy of tests like conditional chi-square, conditional mutual information or partial correlation?   It seems to me that MS Data Mining lacks some kind of Bayesian Networks algorithm wich would illustrate conditional dependencies. That would give a useful insight on how various factors are related to each other and through what kind of chains a change in some input variable transforms to the output.   Thank you.

SSAS logistic regression vs. vanilla logistic regression

I recently ran the same data set through the SSAS logistic regression (Neural network - Hidden layer disabled) as well as a vanilla logistic regression procedure. I am aware that different processes are followed in order to obtain the resulting co-efficients, however, has anyone got further information as to how close the results of the SSAS logistic regression equation are in comparison to logistic regression equations contained in other statistical packages such as SAS or SPSS? I do understand that the respective procedures are dependant on the quality of the data that they are applied to. I assume that the SSAS logistic regression may perform more favourably on one dataset in comparison to a vanilla logistic regression and vice versa. I am aware of the following post however it does not go into much detail concerning the results of the comparison. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sqldatamining/thread/4f381c6b-2471-4d4c-a022-316a1073184d Further info would certainly be appreciated.

how to move SSAS applications between windows servers

Hi All, We have separate windows servers hosting production and development environments.  Each environment consists of MS SQL Server and SSAS, studios, etc.  What would be the best way to move MS SQL Server databases and SSAS objects from one server to another?  I have been looking for some import/export applications but have not been able to find anything. Thanks for any help, Thanks, Roscoe
