Need RSClientPrint.dll help for printing from both SQL 2005 & 2008 RS Reports

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

We recently upgraded our sharepoint environment to SQL 2008 and migrated SQL Reporting Services from 2005 to SSRS 2008. I worked with our Citrix admin to roll out the RSClientPrint.cab files to all of our 90+ Citrix servers so that the SQL reports could be printed. I tested printing 2008 reports from citrix servers with success, but now am having issues printing reports on other SQL 2005 RS instances. Is the SSRS 2008 RSClientPrint.dll not backwards compatible with SSRS 2005? Is there any way around this?

Issue when migrating Reporting service reports from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008

Hi Friends,

We are migrating reporting service reports from SQL server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 and facing below login issue.

We got a virtual machine with 2003 server and got SQL Server 2008 installed with reporting service.

I was able to publish my 2005 reports using VS 2005 easily.

1) But when I try to run the reports I am getting below errors at my website home page.

The permissions granted to user 'DomainName\MachineName' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)

I could not get why there is no user name in above error and how it says machine name does not have permissioin?

There should be at least some user id mentioned as per me.

What could be the reason of above error?

2) Also when I try to run reports using Reports website (i.e. http://server/Reports URL), I get below errro in executing the reports.

"An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'ReportSource'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'."

Here the question is how it is picking up Anonymous logon. I thought it might be using Network Sevice acct to access reports.

What should I be doing to resolve above errors?

3) Also one more point about the s

reports 2008 R2 that converted from 2005 works slowly

Hi,

I’ve converted my RS project from 2005 to 2008 R2 version. I’ using Report services with SharePoint 2010 integrated mode.

The report has some parameters and a stored procedure as a data source.  One of the parameters contains about 2000 values

In VS preview the report works quickly, but when I deploy report on SharePoint it works very slowly and Internet Explorer 8 uses

Printing Landscape oriented reports with SSRS 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2

Hi,

I am having issues when I print reports with SSRS 2008. We have an web application that uses the Report Viewer control to preview our Reports in a popup window. The preview page shows the report in the correct orientation and so does any report that has been exported to PDF or Excel file.

The problem arises when we print the report. For some reason any report set to landscape is still being printed in Portrait orientation. The reports have their heights and width properly set, i.e., for portrait reports we have the layout set to 8.5in x 11in and for landscape reports we have the layout set to 11in x 8.5in.

I have done some research and I did not get a conclusive answer, it seems that this happens because of a bug or maybe because how my ReportViewer object in the aspx page is being set.

I would deeply appreciate any extra info you guys can provide.

Issue while migrating reports from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008

We developed reports for SSRS 2005 using SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio (Visual Studio 2005).

We migrated these reports for SSRS 2008 using SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio (Visual Studio 2008) by opening the Reports project folder in SSRS 2008.

After migration when the report is ran without any changes made in the design mode we get the correct output.

The issue arises when we try to edit the report in the Design mode. In design mode, it shows only 1 'Tablix Filter' Value and loses the rest of the 'Tablix Filter' values. Specifically, If we try and edit the Tablix properties (In Design mode) all the values in the 'Filters' property disappear.

Converting web application from 2005 to 2008 with crystal reports

Hello,

I have a web application developed in Visual studio 2005. I need to convert it to Visual Studio 2008.  The problem is that the application is using crystal reports. When I'm trying to run a page with CrystalReportViewer I am getting the following error:

Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)

How do I solve this problem?

Thanks

I wonder how to add a project template called  Intelligence Reports, something like that, to Visual studio 2008. I have SQL 2008 installed. Do I need to install some updates to get Intelligence Reports template to Visual studio 2008 ?

Thank you..

Data Points: Designing Reports with SQL Server Reporting Services 2005

Many applications require some degree of integration with a reporting tool. A good solution, SQL ServerT Reporting Services 2005, provides Web-based reports and can be integrated into both Windows® Forms and Web-based applications.

Converting Crystal Report 2005 to 2008 - Please Tell Me I'm Stupid :)

Hello peeps,

I have a series of Crystal Reports that I can view/edit using Visual Studio 2005 with no issues.  The method I'm using is to simply click on the *.rpt file and it opens in the VS crystal editor with no issues.  The problem I'm having is that we are upgrading to Visual Studio 2008, and when I open the *.rpt file in 2008 it opens as a binary file.  I guess I'm used to everything else in Visual Studio prompting me to convert the older version to the newer version, so I'm not sure what to do in this case.

Is this normal?  Is there an easy conversion method that I'm simply overlooking?  Am I screwed?  Who invented liquid soap, and why?

Answers to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated...

Convert 2005 RDLC to 2008 using VS2010

Hi and thanks.

I'm getting an error on serveral reports that I built  in VWD2005 (express) using the reportviewer control.  Trying to edit the rdlc file in VS2010, VS2010 asks if i want to convert the file to RDLC 2008 format and I click ok.  When I build the site, I get this error (and of course also when the report is ran):

Error 1 The report definition is not valid.  Details: The report definition has an invalid target namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2008/01/reportdefinition' which cannot be upgraded. C:\inetpub\wwwroot\mastercardlcm\Reports\WorkLists\OpenSRStatus.rdlc 1

Here is my web.config concerning the RDLC assemblies, etc.

SQLServer 2008 Tools and SQL 2005 Cluster

I recently built a SQL Server 2005 cluster on the o/s Windows Server 2008 R2.  I have been attempting to connect to the cluster from my Windows 7 dekstop with my SQL Server 2008 Tool set.  I have been unable to attach to this cluster since its creation. The firewall is temp off, remote connections in the surface area configuration is set to pipes and tcp/ip and the Browser surface is up and running. I ran Wireshark against the cluster and I could see that there was UDP conversations for ms-sql-m (SQL Port) but that was as far as it would get.  I am using a named instance so not using 1433, but I do see the cluster offering up high RPC ports but the client never responds after the initial UDP response. When I noticed that there was a two way conversation taking place, I went to a seperate machine and fired up SQL Server 2005 Tools and I was easily able to attach to the cluster.  So my question is - Are there any known incompatibilities between SQL Server 2005 cluster services and SQL Server 2008 Tool set?  I can use my 2008 tools to attach to a non-clustered SQL Server 2005 w/o issue.   Error when attempting to connect: A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to sql server.  The server was not found or was not accessible.  Verify that the instance name is correct and the SQL Server is con

2008 R2 Tuning Advisor reports "Error: Exception encountered(DTAEngine)"

I am encountering an error when I try to use the SQL 2008 R2 Database Engine Tuning Advisor. I create a very simple workload (either by right-clicking a query in SSMS or by loading a file), and click Start Analysis.  In the "Consuming Workload" step DTA aborts, and in the message column displays "Error: Exception Encountered(DTAEngine)". When I click on the error message, I get a dialog box with a title of DTAEngine, and a message "Error: Exception encountered". This is a clean test environment (SQL 2008 R2 Data Center Edition 64-bit, on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit, in a VM) against a local database. Any ideas about what the problem is or how to resolve it? migration and upgarde from 2005 to 2008

we need to migrate the data from Houston to Seattle. plus, we need to upgrade 2005 server to 2008 at the same time, with the minimal downtime. The plan is to build the brand new 2008 server in Seattle, restore all databases (500 on the same server!) from full backup. when ready, shutdown applications in Houston, run diff backup and restore Seattle from diff. My question is about initial restore of master database in Seattle. is it a problem to restore 2005 master db on 2008 server?JulieShop
