Upload large files from a web page

I am trying to figure out a solution to upload large files under a web page. I know WCF + Streaming is a proper solution for large file transfers, but I am not sure how to get the WCF client implemented under ASP.NET. Here is the link: http://mark-csharp.blogspot.com/2009/01/wcf-file-transfer-streaming-chunking.html Please advice if you have any solution.   Besides, is there anyway I could implement a progress bar showing the upload progress while the file is being uploaded, and voiding page timeout?

SSIS - reading blank rows from Excel 2007 which are actually deleted

Folks, We are facing a strange issue with SSIS and thought I would share the same with you and see if there are any solutions. We are developing a solution where users upload their data in the form of Excel 2007 spreadsheets to a web application interface and then, the file is loaded into an Oracle RDBMS using SSIS 2008 (SSIS called using SSIS Object Model from .NET). Now, there are specific templates provided to the users for their input files and they are using the same. However, it is being observed that when the user deletes certain rows from Excel manually and tries to load it, the file load fails. The reason for the same   is seen when the package is run in debug mode – the excel source is reading a few rows (we are assuming the recently deleted rows) as NULL values in all the columns. Now, some searching revealed at http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2189/excel_2007_eliminate_blank_rows/ that the following manual set of operations are resolving the problem – 1. Go to the Ribbon, and select the Home tab. 2. In the Editing section, click the small arrow next to Find & Select . 3. Select Go To Special . 4. Select the Blanks radio button and click OK. 5. All blank columns/rows will be highlighted. 6. Delete However, this requires a user intervention and obviously, the users are not really loving it J . I just wanted to check that if there are any po

Upload large files

Hi all,

What is better way to large upload file.

using a web service or in application itself.

If in application, how can we check that files is to upload.

actually i dont want user to wait for complete uploading, when it starts uploading user will get response of uploaded and uploading will be done  in backgroud.

I am not sure this type of task can be done in webservice also so that user doesnot need to wait for complete uploading.

and one more query which event fires when the page redirects to another page.

Is it Page_UnLoad or Dispose

Any suggestions is appreciated.

SSAS Excel Drill Thru : Number of Rows Returned don't match up

Hi, I have created an excel report which connects to my cube and have created drill thru action. When I double click on data cell in excel, what I would expect is to give details for that cell. For example, I have a cell in excel that represents 1000 Sales made. When I double click on it, it should only show me thousand rows, however for some reason it gives me more than 1000 rows. So basically the cell counts don't tie with drill thru row counts.....

Any idea on how I can rectify this?

On excel sheet upload read the workbook and populate data to sharepoint list

Requirement in my current project:
In a document library when I upload an excel sheet, a specific workbook has to be read and the contents have to be uploaded to a sharepoint custom list.
The approach followed was create an event receiver and register as a feature. Following is the code for event receiver.

            var list = getSPList("{150301BF-D0BD-452C-90D7-2D6CD082A247}");
            SPListItem doc = properties.ListItem;
            doc["Msg"] = "items deleted from req list";
            string excelname=doc.File.Name;
