Easy Async: Build Concurrent Apps From Simple F# Expressions

In this article, the author explores how the F# language helps you create asynchronous function libraries that can be called seamlessly from any other .NET-compliant language.

FileUpload Class SaveAs, how can you overwrite?

Hello all,

I'm trying to use 2.0 class, FileUpload.
Namespace: System.Web.UI.WebControls
Class FileUpload

Anyway, in my code can save the file to the server

FileUpload1.SaveAs(SavePath + FileName)

Problem is I can't find a way to overwrite the file.  When I try and run the program again is says the file is already in use that a process has access to it.

Is thre a proper way to release control of whatever it grabbing hold of it?  In .Net I don't have to destroy my objects right?
Or is there a way to specificly overwrite the file? It seems that SaveAs does that.  Just trying to figure out why I can upload this text file, but sometimes only once and then I have to code in to check to see if it exists then rename it.

'asp' is an unrecognized tag prefix or device filter

Hi There,

I have been using Visual Web Developer Express Edition Beta 1 Refresh and Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1 for the past few weeks. For some unforeseen reason VS now reports the error -'asp' is an unrecognized tag prefix or device filter on all my .aspx pages.

The solution compiles and launches without any mishap and the only way to alter page control properties is in design view, as intellisense does not function due to the errors.

I've search the web and found a resolution which was to remove all files in the folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Application

But the issue still exists.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

All my server-controls became unrecognized!!! like there's compilation error or web.config missing!

please help - the problem is in post subject.

I have lots of warnings with following text:

"Warning 10 Element 'HyperLink' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site, or the web.config file is missing. C:\Users\Pavel\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\WebSites\BioWebSite\ToScientist.aspx 26 18 C:\...\BioWebSite\"

But web.confg is there! And there's no compilation error!

Site builds just fine. And If I upload it to my hoster - it works!

But with all these errors I cant add controls to pages - VS2010 adds hyperlink without ID, and intelisens stoped to work.

Strange, but in my other project (web-application) I have no such difficuty.

Redirect to Security Questions if Site accessed from unrecognized computer?

I'm fairly new to ASP.NET and i'm using the Membership Provider.  I have the need to do similar to some banking sites. Baically I need to track "authorized" computers/ip's for a user.  If the user accesses the site form a recognized Computer/IP then the user is allowed into the app after successful login.  If the computer/IP is not recognized I need to redirect them to a screen to answer the security question setup in fhte Membership Provider.

Has anyone done anything like this or can anyone point me to any examples?  I did a search, but can't seem to find anything.

My idea is to maintain a list of authorized computers/IP addresses and check them on initial login.  If the IP address isn't found I can redirect them to the questions.  My concern is that they are then actually authenticated and could enter any of the site URL's as an authenticated user.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

        string imageFile=FileUpload.PostedFile.FileName;
        int index=imageFile.LastIndexOf(".");
        string fileFormat=imageFile.Substring(index+1);

FileUpload Control with membership and roles

Hi Everyone!

I'm pretty new to development using Microsoft technologies.

I'm trying to build a portal kind of an application in asp.net, in which one of the functionality is letting people log in and upload their documents. The upload page is only accessible to registered users of the portal.

I would like to track the user uploaded files according to their userIds.

Is it possible to use the FileUpload Control and C# to fetch the current user id, create a directory with the same name(as that of userID) in the file system and upload the files( multiple file upload, if necessary) into it?

Also another admin page would have to be able to see the list of files uploaded by the specific user and download it if necessary.

Could anyone help me with this?

I'm also expecting alternate solutions to the problem.

Awaiting a response.

Thanks in advance

Async Web Service behavior on client disconnect

Hi all, I was wondering what is the best way to detect client disconnect in the middle of an async web service call. I'm asusming that if a client disconnects while the server is still processing the async web method call, an exception will be thrown. First, I wonder if someone can confirm that this is the right assumption. If that's the case, then I was wondering where should I set up the SEH block to catch this exception. My gut tells me to set up the SEH block in side the delegate funciton, but I might be wrong. Also, what kind of an exception would I be getting if the client disconnects? Finally, if the SEH is set up in the delegate, what happens if a client disconnects in the tiny window before or after the delegate gets called? If someone can shed some light here I'd really appreciate it! Thanks, - K.
