Viewmodel property not set to [Required] yet getting error message saying it is?

I have a viewmodel that i use for my view

public int SelectionId{ get; set; }
public IEnumerable<Selections> Selections { get; set; }

Notice that SelectionId is not decorated with [Required]. In my view, i use DropDownFor like this:

<%= Html.DropDownListFor(m => m.SelectionId, new SelectList(Model.Selections, "Id", "Name"), "--- Select ---")%>

It should be possible to not select anything from the dropdown, resulting in model.SelectionId = 0, which is fine. Why do i get a "SelectionId field is required" error when i Post?  If i do this:

<%= Html.DropDownList(mySelectionId, new SelectList(Model.Selections, "Id", "Name"), "--- Select ---")%>

I no longer get the error if i dont select anything, which is what i want - but no way to bind it to the id if the user does select something

thanks for any help!

Hello, I am getting the "No value given for one or more required parameters." when importing an Excel 2003 spreadsheet into my web site. I have pinpointed the problem to be the last column in my SELECT statement. This column does not seem to be a reserved word and the the data in the column 'POS' and 'HMO' seems fine as well. The SELECT code is posted below as well as 4 other columns I am having the same problem (they are commented out for now). Any help solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.Dim objCommand As New OleDbCommand("SELECT [Employee Name] as Employee, " & _ "[Residence Zip Code] as ZipCode, " & _ "[Position] as EmpPos, " & _ "[FT Exempt, FT Non Exempt, PT Exempt, PT Non Exempt] as Exempt, " & _ "[Annual Salary OR Hourly Rate] as Rate, " & _ "[Hours Per Pay Cycle] as HoursPerPayCycle, " & _ "[Date of Birth] as DateOfBirth, " & _ "[Gender] as Gender, " & _ "[Status: Active or COBRA] as AorCStatus, " & _ "[Plan Name] as PlnName " & _ "FROM [Census$]", objXConn) ' "[Workers Comp Category] as WorkersComp, " & _ ' "[Medical Tier: EE Only, EE & Child(ren), EE

Microsoft SharePoint server 2010 encountered an error during setup. One or more required office comp

I am encountering this error during setup. The server previously had WSS 3.0 and the Group Board Workspace. I uninstalled those and installed sharepoint foundation 2010. Initially It was up and running but I was receiving errors trying to load the group space template, so I uninstalled SPF2010. cleaned up the registry pointers to the old WSS3.0 and Groupboard Workspace and tried to reinstall. Now I get the error

Microsoft SharePoint server 2010 encountered an error during setup. One or more required office components failed to complete successfully.

Looking into the issue it appears that setup cannot install the embedded sql server, since the logs indicate a dbwrap error. There are no "pendingfilerename" operations which fixed this problem for some. I tried to install as a farm but it won't allow me to use a local admin account.  I also looked at the sql configurations and the windows internal database is running.

Any ideas how to I can remove the windows internal database and reinstall SF2010?

InfoPath error: One or more required custom controls in this form cannot be created

I have an InfoPath 2007 form published to a form library in MOSS 2007.  This form opens in InfoPath and is not browser-enabled.

The form suddenly stopped working for me and 1 other user.  I'm a farm admin and the user only has contributor rights on the form library (and site and subsite).  Everyone else with appropriate permissions can access existing forms that use the template and can create new forms using the template.

When either one of us tries to open the form, we get:

InfoPath cannot open the following file: http://site/subsite/formlibrary/filename.xml?OpenIn=PreferClient&NoRedirect=true&XmlLocation=/subsite/formlibrary/filename.xml.
One or more required custom controls in this form cannot be created.

No errors in the web front end event log or SharePoint log files.  No errors in my client PC's event log.

I've tried the following without success:

Opening the template and publishing it to a new list.
Published the template to a new content type on this list and a new list.
Dumped IE cache and reset IE settings.
Rebooted the computer.
Checked permissions on the list to make sure they were correct.

Last change made to the farm:

Parameters with DBNull.Value becomes "default" and causes error in SqlServer

Hi, I have a table with a nullable column.

When I try to insert a record using INSERT statement I pass a parameter set to the value DBNull.Value.

Then I get an error from the SqlServer saying that the parameter was not supplied.

Using Sql-profiler i see that the applied parameter is set to the keyword 'default'.

I try to run the query inside Sql Server Management Studio, it looks something like this:

exec sp_executesql N'INSERT INTO [tbl] ([Val1]) VALUES (@Val1_P)', @Val1_P=default

First, why is the server giving the error about parameter not supplied? I have supplied it, and the value is keyword default.

Then I try to change the query to setting @Val1_P=null. This works..

BUT the problem then is, how do I set this from ADO Command object? I have set the parameter to DbNull.Value, and it translate it to 'default'.. What's going on here? I wanted the parameter to be the keyword 'null' not 'default'.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

No value given for one or more required parameters

I have a form that has 5 text boxes on it and 2 command buttons. One of the command buttons inserts data into the database and the other command button gets data from the database. I made a ms access database that has 6 fields(id, Ticket, UserID, Date, Time, Description). I am able to connect to the database and insert data from the text boxes on my form but i am having  problems getting the data from the database and displaying the information in text boxes located on my windows form. When i hit the "Get Data" command button a input box comes so i can type in the ticket number "IN403256" to retrieve the data, but everytime i type one of the ticket numbers in the input box it says "No value given for one or more required parameters." I want to be able to input a ticket number and bring up all the information that pertains to that unique ticket number and see the information from the database in the text boxes on the windows forms.

here is my code:

Private Sub btnRetrieve_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnRetrieve.Click

txtTicket.text = ""

SQL Execution Error, Specified type is not registered on the target, when adding DateTime parameters

I have SQLServer 2008r2 installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine.  I'm trying to build a report using SSRS - and as soon as I try to add some DateTime parameters to the query and execute, I get
