Comma-Delimited Output

One of the common tasks performed when retrieving data from a SQL Server database is returning the result as a comma-delimited output instead of a result set. This task can be performed by using a CURSOR selecting the column to be concatenated together. Each row returned by the CURSOR is then concatenated together into a variable separating each one by a comma.

Enterprize library 4.1 getting output parameter after adding record in db, plz guide

I need to get output parameter (flag) from db after saving record in database. I am using Microsoft Enterprise Library 4.1 for DB. I am inserting record using I Data reader.

Please guide

Inline conditional output

Is it possible to somehow output some content based upon some conditional check in Razor? If not, I hope this possibility will be added in the future. What I want to do is the following:

<option value="1" @if(ListMode == 1) { = "selected=\"true\"" }>Full list</option>

As I can't figure out a way to do this, I have to either make a helper that does it for me or write duplicate code.

saving XML output from webservice

 I created a webservice that takes casenum as input and gives results as a dataset in an XML.

I could make a web client to display the resulting dataset in a grid view. Pls see my code copied below.

Now I want to create a console client that takes the casenum as input, to call the webservice and saves the resulting xml for further processing, but can't figure out how to just capture the xml to save. Here's the code for my web client. I would appreciate if you could help modify this tocapture the resulting xml to save file locally.

Thank You.

namespace ResultsWebServicesClient
    public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page
        protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)

        private void BindDataToGrid(string CaseNum)
            FG_Results results = new FG_Results();
            DataSet ds1 = new DataSet();
            ds1 = results.Get_FG_Results(CaseNum);
            GridView1.AutoGenerateColumns = true;
            GridView1.DataSource = ds1.Tables[0];

        protected void GetResults(object sender, EventArgs e)

output cache to be used only when parameter has changed + old question of user control not answered

i have 2 questions about output cache:

1.is it just me , or does it seems that it is used only after the second time that the user reaches the webpage? if so, why, and how can i tweak it to my needs? my guess is that it wouldn't be logical to cache every time a user reach a webpage, but only when it happens enough times.

2.i know that i can use "varybyparam" for using the output cache when the parameter doesn't change , but it seems that it would use the output cache even if there is no parameter , or if the specified paramter is not there. is there a way to overcome this?

3.an old question that somehow marked as "answered" , yet i didn't solve : suppose i created a user control and i gave it values through the CTOR via the aspx file . is it possible to show the values from within the split/design mode? remember that i've talking about ASP.NET and not simply C# winforms . i write this because this question was on :

and the answer that i got was for C# and winforms . i've tried to do the same for ASP.NET , but i've failed.

can anyone please help me?

Use .html method to output asp.net controls

Is it possible to use the .html method to output something like an asp:label ??  It doesn't seem to work for me unless they're standard html controls.  Here's my JQuery:

$(function() {
    $("#btnContinue").click(function() {

    $('#post_register').html("<asp:Label ID='lblUserName' runat='server' Text='Enter your desired user name:'></asp:Label>")

Output parameters in OLEDB Command component - SSIS 2008

I have a package that I developed in SSIS 2005 and recently ported to 2008. Everything runs great except an OLE DB Command component that calls a stored procedure that uses output parameters. When I try to run this, I get this error: Error: 0xC0202009 at Data Flow Task, OLE DB Command [100]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Syntax error, permission violation, or other nonspecific error". Error: 0xC004701A at Data Flow Task, SSIS.Pipeline: component "OLE DB Command" (100) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202009. When I do the same thing in SSIS2005, it works fine. So I setup a new package with 1 data flow. In that data flow, I added a source component, an OLE DB Command, and a destination.  I then tested this with a stored procedure that took no parameters. It worked fine. I then tested it with a stored procedure with 1 parameter defined as OUTPUT. This generated the error.   Is there an issue with output parameters in an OLE DB Command in SSIS 2008?   Thanks!http://bobp1339.blogspot.com

Tablix Header missing on last page of PDF output

Tablix Headers don't show on last page of PDF and TIFF output.   I've tried all things mentioned including installing SQL Server 2008 Cumulative Update# 7.   My issue is that I have a Tablix with some header rows that repeat fine until the last page.   On the last page they are hidden.  This appears to be true of PDF and TIFF output.  THere are other issues with Word output.   The standard HTML viewer works fine.   So its clearly a PDF renderer issue.

Remove the lines from the query output

On TSQL Command of; set nocount onselect @@version Getting the output as;                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Microsoft SQL Server  2000 - 8.00.2039 (Intel X86)  May  3 2005 23:18:38  Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Developer Edition on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 2) How to remove the lines from the output?

run a bunch of sql script files using a stored procedure (without using xp_cmdshell)

Is this possible? Let me elaborate. I need to automate the execution of a bunch of sql script files (*.sql) placed by my users in a certain folder. One way I can do this is by using some kind of a script to loop thru the files in that folder and for each *.sql file found, launch a 'sqlcmd' command to execute the current script file using the -i option, ie, sqlcmd -S <server> -i <the current sql file in the loop> I tried doing this, but ran into a liitle bit of difficulty with the particular scripting language (JAVA). I was going to research this a bit more, but I also wanted to consider something that doesn't involve another script. So I was thinking about doing this using a stored procedure, but then I was wondering, how would I run a sql script file from sql server? The only way I can think of is still using sqlcmd, but then to use that within a stored procedure, I would need to turn on xp_cmdshell. Although I can do that, that invloves getting other people involved so I was wondering if there is way to do this without turning on xp_cmdshell.

optional output parameter in CLR Stored Procedure

I'm trying to transpose a Procedure that sends mail via CDO.Message and Ole Automation to a .Net CLR Procedure. this procedure must have the same parameters in the same order as the original to maintain compatibility with everything that already uses it. the declaration goes as follow   <Microsoft.SqlServer.Server.SqlProcedure(name:="SP_ENVIAEMAIL")> _<br/> Public Shared Sub ENVIAEMAIL(<SqlFacet(MaxSize:=100)> Optional ByVal De As String = "", <SqlFacet(MaxSize:=100)> Optional ByVal Para As String = "", _<br/> <SqlFacet(MaxSize:=100)> Optional ByVal Copia As String = "", <SqlFacet(MaxSize:=100)> Optional ByVal Oculta As String = "", _<br/> <SqlFacet(MaxSize:=100)> Optional ByVal Assunto As String = "", <SqlFacet(MaxSize:=-1)> Optional ByVal Mensagem As String = "", _<br/> <SqlFacet(MaxSize:=-1)> Optional ByVal Anexo As String = "", _<br/> <strong><SqlFacet(MaxSize:=1000)> <Out()> Optional ByVal Retorno As String = ""</strong> , _<br/> <SqlFacet(MaxSize:=100)> Optional ByVal Smtp As String = "", <SqlFacet(MaxSize:=100)> Optional ByVal Usuario As String = "",

How can I show INSTEAD OF in XML output?

I am trying to create an XML document as the result of queries against our database tables. In some cases I need fields (usually INT) to display as <FieldName xsi:nil ="true" /> and that seems to work just fine if I used "ELEMENTS XSINIL"   However, I need to be able to chose (basically on a field by field basis in my SELECT statements) to return a blank field when the database holds a NULL value such as: <FieldName></FieldName>  (Or <FieldName/> either way would be fine).   How can I do that? Thank you for your help!   SELECT RecordCode, FieldToBeBlank, [Year] , [Month] FROM dbo.SomeTable FOR XML PATH('CustomRootName'), ELEMENTS XSINIL

Msg 15121, Level 16, State 10, XP_Cmdshell - A call to 'CreateProcessAsUser' failed with error cod

I have the XP_cmdshell issues for the past two days in SQL2005 SP2 environment. There is a domain account with sysadmin privilege. I have created a proxy account and gave the execute privilege for xp_cmdshell. If i try to run the following commmand EXEC master..xp_cmdshell 'dir *.txt' Msg 15121, Level 16, State 10, Procedure xp_cmdshell, Line 1 An error occurred during the execution of xp_cmdshell. A call to 'CreateProcessAsUser' failed with error code: '1314'. But if i give sysadmin priv and then i try to execute. It worked. I cant give sysadmin priv so i m using a proxy account. Whether any one have solution for it.

SQL Agent Jobstep output file contains automatically generated header

Hi,   I've created a stored procedure that creates a script to create a number of objects within the database (based on what existing objects are in the database).  From Management Studio, this works fine, and the output is exactly as I want it.   I'm now trying to create a job that will execute this stored procedure, and deposit the results into a file somewhere on the server.  When the job runs, the script is created in the correct place and is essentially ok.   However, there are a couple of questions I'd like to ask.   Why does SQL Server Agent put a header at the top of the output file?  I was hoping to be able to use that output file 'as is' and execute it automatically to recreate my objects when required.  (Obviously, I can manually remove the header, but this is an inconvenience in this situation).  How do I stop it?   Also, when executed from SSMS, the output is correctly line-spaced.  But, the output from the scheduled job adds an extra line between each line of text, which is, again, inconvenient.  Why does it do this, and how can I prevent this (again, without manually editting the output)?   Any thoughts and help greatly appreciated.   Cheers Simon

WriteLine - Writing to the VS Output window or to the Console

I know the WriteLine activity has a TextWriter argument that can be set to direct where the output is received but how can I have it output into the Output window of Visual Studio? For few tests, it would be helpful when running the test, I could see some output within VS.Blades Don't Need Reloading...
