Access to SSRS 2008

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am trying to set the access to SSRS 2008 but not sure about the steps...

I have about 100 users to add.

1) Which type of AD group is valid? Apparently Security Group - Global, Security - Universal Group do not work...

2) I was thinking about adding a group (which type?)to the Site Settings and also to the Folder Settings but will it be enough?

Trouble installing SSRS 2008 R2, XP Pro SP3, can't access Web Service or Report Manager URLs

I found a great thread by Uday titled "SQL 2008 Reporting Services Win XP SP2" and worked through it, but I am still stumped.

I am using port 8080 cause this was default.  I tried changeing to 80, but it didn't help, so changed back.  IIS is using port 80 and is currently stopped.

I see both databases in SQL Server and can query while logged in as Account that is used for the service account.  SSRS is running.

URL reservations look good in the rsreportserver.config file.  In Native mode.

While in RS Config Manger I can test database connection and it is good.  When I click the webservice URL or the Report Manger URL in the Config Manager I get errors "Web site can not be found" and "Website can not display page"  I just upgraded to IE 8.  Can't figure out what to do next.

When I use httpcfg.exe I see a URL for http://+:8080/ReportServer/   and http://+:80/Reports/.  This could be the problem.  How can I chages seconfd to port 8080?

Any help would be appreciated.

SSRS 2008 R2 and sharepoint 2007 report builder problems

I upgraded our enterprise sql server 2008 to sql server 2008 r2 last weekend.  Along with this i installed the report builder 3.0 on the servers as well and the updated ssrs add in for sharepoint.  The upgrade went fine, no errors that i could find.  The problem is now when i go to a library that has the report builder content type enabled and click report builder report under new it does not load report builder 3.0.

I updated the custom report builder url in central administration from /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_2_0_0_0.application to /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application

however when i do click the new report builder report it kicks me over to http://company.com/ReportServer_MossEnt  which itemizes out each individual sharepoint site in the farm.

Is the integration of ssrs 2008 r2, sharepoint 2007 and report builder 3.0 work?  did i install the wrong version of the report builder add in?  The above is the only problem i am having now.

all servers are server 2008, 64 bit and moss 2007 enterprise with sp2 & april 2010 cu

SQL 2008 servers and MOSS 2007 with SSRS

I need help figuring out the limitations in a multi-database server environment and MOSS 2007 installation with SSRS.  Here is the run down:

  • I currently have MOSS 2007 server with backend on SQL 2005, which also acts as the SSRS server.  In addition I have another SQL 2005 server where business data resides and against which most of the SSRS reports run.
  • Future plan (over which I don't really have a say) is MOSS 2007 with backend on SQL 2008, which will remain to be the SSRS server.  The second SQL server with business data will be migrated to SQL 2008 R2.

Questions: does this architecture requires SSRS 2008 add-in or SSRS 2008 R2 add-in (integrated mode)?  Will there be an issue of building SSRS 2008 reports that go after SQL 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 data mix?

Share Point integrated SSRS reports rendering when access from external site

Our client has a SharePoint (moss2007) site on Windows 2008, SQL2008 R2 Enterprise, and Reporting service is integrated with SharePoint

The authentication on the share point integration is set to windows, else the authentication for the SSAS datasource gives and error

The extranet zone ( forms) and intranet (Customer Forms) and default (Windows) zones are all access from inside the firewall and the reports render in each with no issues, as the datasources are configured to pass a sql username and password.

However, report rendering is a problem from the internet (external site), the following error is displayed:

SSRS 2008 Graph Type?

Greetings -

I am required to plot the following graph in an SSRS report.

Sum of Total Credits to be shown on Positive side and total sum of Debits for a month on negative side. I have created a query which retrieves all the expenses for the month and sums them up before feeding the same to the graph for plotting. Both values returned are positive integers.

SSRS 2008 date validation

Hello, Perhaps somone can shed some light on this. I want to make sure the user doesn't set a Startdate > EndDate  in a report. I've done some thing like this: Go to the Report Properties under the Report menu and place this code to the Code Tab. Public Function CheckDate(SDate as Date, EDate as Date) as Integer Dim msg as String msg = "" If (SDate > EDate) Then msg="Start Date should not be later than End Date" End If If msg <> "" Then MsgBox(msg, 16, "Parameter Validation Error") Err.Raise(6,Report) 'Raise an overflow End If End Function Then go to the Report Parameters and Add named it XXX with the datatype is string. Checked the Hidden and Allow blank value ckeckboxes. In Available Values choose Non-Queried and from Default Values choose Non-Queried in right side of textbox then press the FX button then paste this code. =CODE.CheckDate( .Value) But I'm having problems with the =CODE.CheckDate( .Value)  syntax. SSRS errors out. Any suggestions/insights? --joe

Help Passing Multiple Parameters Via a URL in SSRS 2008

Hello Everyone, I'm totally and completely confused as to how to pass multiple paramters through a URL.  Book Online is absolutely no help because they do not offer any examples of passing multiple paramters within a URL.  Instead, I get confused over RENDER and COMMAND and what should be repeated where with each paramter and on and on and on. Here's my URL: javascript:void(window.open('http://sereporting01.wdig.com/ReportServer?%2fDOL%2fTEST%2fDisney+Sell-Through&rs:Command=Render&SiteName=Disney,InsertionType=300 x 250,Context=ROS','_blank','resizable=yes,toolbar=0,menubar=0')) What happens is that JavaScript opens a new window but I get a "Reporting Services Error".  I'm assuming it's because my URL parameters are not correct.  Can someone please just give me the correct syntax so that I can get on with my work? I'm editing this post to add - I'm also confused as to how paramters are supposed to be passed through to a report when default paramters are set up in the report which i'm trying to open with the URL.  Should I remove the default paramaters from the report or...what? Again, BOL offers no help on this issue and it just seems to generate more questions.  Thanks!!

ssrs 2008 R2 - report parameter with no default set throws java script error

We have recently upgraded from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2008 R2....I am experiencing a problem with my report parameters on my SSRS reports. It seems that my report parameters that I do not have a specified 'default' value throws a java script error when I try and run/render the report under R2.  As soon as I put a 'default' value on the report param, everything is fine.  However, that is not the behavior we need for our reports...the user needs to pick their selection. Can anyone shed some light on this, it seems to be an AJAX problem...I need to be able to have report parameters with a list of values, but no 'default' value on the parameter.

SQL Server 2008 Powershel trying to access SQL Server 2000

Below is a script from my SQL server 2008 PowerShell trying to connect a SQL Server 2000 instance. PS SQLSERVER:\SQL\SS2K8\DEFAULT\databases> cd \ PS SQLSERVER:\> cd sql PS SQLSERVER:\sql> cd MySS2KMachine PS SQLSERVER:\sql\MySS2KMachine> cd default PS SQLSERVER:\sql\MySS2KMachine\default> cd Databases PS SQLSERVER:\sql\MySS2KMachine\default\Databases> dir and I see a list of all databases on the default (SS2K) instance. I also see al instances on the machine: PS SQLSERVER:\sql\MySS2KMachine\default> cd .. PS SQLSERVER:\sql\MySS2KMachine> dir Instance Name ------------- DEFAULT MSSQL2005 As you can see from the above, there is also a SQL Server 2005 instance installed on the MySS2KMachine. Now, if I try the same thing for a Sql Server 2000 instance on another server (Windows 2003 R2 with SP1) with no SQL Server 2005 or higher installed on the machine, I get the error below: PS SQLSERVER:\> cd sql PS SQLSERVER:\sql> cd MyPureSS2KMachine WARNING: Could not obtain SQL Server Service information. Remote access to SQL-Server 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2008 denied

Hello, after successful installation of SQLServer 2008 R2 and providing my account as a 'sysadmin' I failed to access the server from a management studio of a SQL-Server 2005 release installation. The TCP/IP access is enabled and the server is configured to allow access from remote connections.  The error message reads a follows: ' A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify ... (Provider: Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:2)' Accessing the SQL-Server by the management studio from the local host works fine but trying to acces by command line using the '-E' parameter fails. Is there any additional configuration on the operation system level needed to open a SQL-Server 2008 instance to be selected by other members of  domain groups from the non-local host? Thank you for the answer

How can I access Command Window in SSMS 2008

Problem connecting to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express from Access 2007

I have a problem with SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with MS Access 2007. I am running Windows 7 with 8 gigs memory. I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. Do I now need to install SP1 because I am running with Windows 7? I can open SQL Server using the Management Screen but I cannot connect to MS Access 2007 using SQL Server Express as the database. When trying to connect to SQL Server from Access 2007, I keep getting the message that SQL Server 2005 cannot be found. It will not allow me to sign onto sql server 2008 stating that it cannot be found. Do I have to now run the SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP1? Is there an upgrade to MS Access 2007 which will allow me to use SQL Server 2008 R2 Express?

Importing Access 2010 tables to SQL Server 2008 R2

I'm trying to import a series of Access 2010 tables to Sql Server 2008 R2.  The Access import drivers are for *.mdb (which if I recall was the file extension for Access when I was a kid, and don't recognize the .accdb file extention).  Similarly, the Excel driver is for Excel 2003.  Isn't there a driver and method to import directly to SQL 2008 from Access 2010? SQL is installed on my server, but Access is not installed on the server.  When I copy the file onto the server and try and open it directly into SQL, I get a 'no editor installed' error. I can't get the 'upsize' wizard to work becuase it won't open the connection to SQL, even though I enter the userid and password of the SQL DB owner.  I get the following error: ===================================================== Connection failed: ============================================================= I have to say I'm stumped.  The rest of the Office 2010 suite works really well together - perhaps I'm missing something very simple? Thanks!     I guess I could export my tables as Excel 2003 and then import them using Integration Services, or install SQL Express on my laptop and 'upsize' to that instance, but SQL State: ‘0100’ SQL Server Error: 11004 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Dirver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (Connect()).
