where to download the Windows Workflow SDK

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

the link here says to go http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1BB19978-B14D-4748-8B3B-A296E7BFE27F&displaylang=en but that link is now dead

Specifically i'm looking for the Monitor tool and Tracking Profile designer.  I'm using WIN7 and have the WIN7 SDK but those tools are not included.

Foundations: Windows Workflow Design Patterns

Design patterns provide a common, repeatable approach to solving software development tasks, and many different patterns can describe how to accomplish a certain goal in code. When developers begin working with Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), they often ask about how to accomplish common tasks with the technology. This month's column discusses several design patterns used in WF.

WF How-To: Building State Machines with Windows Workflow Foundation

State Machine workflows represent a different way of visualizing program logic. Rather than flowing from activity to activity like sequential workflows, State Machines transition from state to state. Learn about uses for State machines and see how to design and build a State Machine workflow with Windows Workflow Foundation.

MVC and Windows Workflow

I have an ASP.Net MVC application manages process of forwarding some business entities to one another partner.  At beginning of the process, the forwarding partner sends a request to every other partner.  There are many receiving partners for the forwarding request, but only the first partner who responds with ACCEPT token will enter into the contract with the sending partner.  When this happens, the process enters ACCEPTED state.  When the process goes into ACCEPTED state, the same request previously received by other partners will enter into Cancelled state.

I am thinking using Windows Workflow Foundation to do this, but I am not sure if I should use one flow or multiple flows associating with the forwarding request flow.  If multiple work lows are required, should they be all with the same structure, states, events, handlers, etc?  Any flow executes Accept method enters Accepted state, and triggers all other flows' Cancel events.

Can this be done?  Any other recommendation?  Thank you.

Why to Use Windows workflow

Hi All, Could anyone please let me know some guidelines/best practise why and where to use windows workflow. We started our development using windows workflow 3.5 State machine for complex business process. Somethig which were not feasible in workflow we put the same in D/B. Later when we developed the entire solution we found WWF is an overhead. We can have easily developed the entire solution using Data base approach as we are so much dependent on Database.   Could any one of you please let me know what question/sceneraio we should look at , so that we can justify that using WWF is right. Right now we feel WWF is an overhead to ours complex State MAchine Business process. We can easily achive all requirement using Database approach.   Regards Robin

Hello, I need to use an existing asmx service from inside my service workflow and I am unable to call it. This asmx service is hosted in a web application with iis set to windows authentication, anonymous is not allowed. I need to send the authentication, only way seems too be using transport for basicHttpBindings. SQL*Server 2008 SP1 applied but still tries to download and install from Windows Update

I had previously posted this on the windows update forum and was advised here was more appropriate. I have installed SQL*Server Express 2008 on laptop with windows7 and appled the SP1 update. This shows as applied correctly when looking at programs/updates from control panel, update logs. The management console confirms version 10.1.2531 is running. Each time I use windows update  the service pack is listed as needing download / install - the same KB968369 is given as the reference. I have run this a couple of times but the update is shown as outstanding each time. Any ideas how to resolve this? Thanks Colin
