Get Today's Events from A Calendar That Contains Multi-Day Events as Well as Recurring Events

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I'm having trouble getting a list of today's events from a default calendar.

I've tried the following two CAML queries:

 <FieldRef Name=\"EventDate\" />
 <FieldRef Name=\"EndDate\" />
 <FieldRef Name=\"RecurrenceID\" />
 <Value Type=\"DateTime\"><Month /></Value>

Which resulted in the following Exception:

    One or more field types are not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete these fields.0x81020014

The calendar list is a default calendar list ie. no additional fields and no changes to the Eve

Problem quering calendar list with recurring events

Hi guys,

I need to get all events from a list which are overlap with a range of time (StartDateTime - EndDateTime).

The problem is that recurring events has EventDate as the first day of recurence and EndDate 30 years later so absolutly all ranges of time get into any recurring period.

Is there a way to fix it?

SharePoint Recurring Events

I must be a dummy, but can't figure this out.  I am setting up a recurring event such as shown below in SharePoint WSS 3.0: Delivery Date - 11/10/2010; Start Time - 2 PM; End Time - 3 PM; Recurrence - Make this a repeating event; Pattern - Monthly and "The second Wednesday of every 1 month"; Date Range - Start Date of 11/10/2010; and End after 10 Occurrences. In the calendar, the event shows up on 11/10/2010, and in the data sheet view it has an end 8/10/2011.  There are no entries being shown in the calendar for any month other than Aug 2010. I wanted it to show up every month in the calendar between Nov 2010 and Aug 2011 at 2 PM on the second Wednesday.  What am I doing wrong?

Sync calendar events between two web applications

Hi, I wanted to check if it is possible to sync calendar events between two different web applications in WSS 3.0. Both web applications are in the same farm. I want to know if it is possible to design such workflow in SharePoint Designer 2007 or do I need to use Visual Studio?Thank you.

Important events in a calendar

Hi all forum   I am using an asp calendar which mark the current day with a certain color. But I wish to extend this functionality. I wish to assign certain important events will happen in the future and highlight their days, and when the user clicks this certain day he will be directed to the page of the event.In other words If today is 7-9-2010 it is already highlighted in my calendar I wish to high-light  15-9-2010 cell and may write some tip with it  and when the user click on 15-9-2010 cell he will be directed to events.aspxalso How about binding it to a sql table containing events and the events diplayed highlighted. as if it is a gridview binding to a datasource and on its row command event some funtions will happen

Any way to filter group or limit the view with recurring events??

It seems that recurring events (in Events view) cause greatlimitations in the views available. For example filtering or groupingon the start date of events does not work.I tried to use a calculated column that makes a 'Start Date' of theStart Time in order to filter on it, but the result is that only thefirst date of a series of a recurring task is shown, which of courseis useless.It seems that the Calendar view is the only way to limit views in day/week/etc.Did anyone else come up with an acceptable way to group or filterrecurring events?  Specifically filtering these recurring events by Week and Month.

Calendar Day View - Location for all day events

How do you get the location to appear in the calendar for an all day event?  Right now, the only info that appears is the title, even though Location is the sub-heading chosen for the calendar columns in both week and day view (month view does not have a subheading choice).  I am unable to get any sub-headings to appear for all day events.

Thank you

Calendar does not print events, Print preview shows blank calendar

We are running SharePoint 2010 and when I do a print preview of a Calendar web part the preview shows a blank Calendar with no events, when I print there are no events printed either.  This is from a PC running Windows XP SP3 and IE7.  When I preview and print from the same computer using FireFox 3.6.10 the events are visible and print.

Since not all of our users have FireFox I need to find a way to get calendar printing to work from IE7.

Expanding Recuring Events in a Calendar list

Hi all,

I have a remote Web service that connects and queries a sharepoint site collection. One specific query is on a events list. Some of the events are recuring so I want these expanded so I can view the individual instances. I am aware that SPQuery is able to do this, but since this service is remote from the sharepoint server, I have been forced to use the Microsoft.Sharepoint.Client namespace to connect to the site collection.

Does anyone know how I can expand the recurring events without having to write my own code to parse the RecurrenceData field of the event item ?

Filter recurring events in Sharepoint

I have seen many people with the same problem but with no solution.

I am trying to show only the Calender events for the next 7 days, but creating a custom field and setting it to the Start Time and then filtering it doesnt work for recurring events since the recurring events are really only stored as one record ...

Any help will be appreciated.

Filter recurring Events

Has the capability to filter recurring events been added for sharepoint 2010? If so, does the Current Events view now work correctly for recurring events?

SPListItem "Start Time" for recurring events when building a task reminder Timer job.

I have a timer job that looks at maintenance events (calendar list) planned 5 days in the future and moves them to the current todo list. It then marks that maintenance item as copied so it is not double copied to the current todo list.

This works good for single event maintenance items but not for routine or recurring maintenance items. The reason is the recurring events have a "start time" of the first event so after the first one gets moved the rest are all interpreted as being in the past, since (I think) the recurring events start time is generated as an offset of the original event at runtime. How would I get a collection of ALL the Event items that are 5 days out (single and recurring) within a timer job.

Full Calendar with events

I have an Asp.net website and need to build or possibly buy something to allow me to do this. I am not looking for a little pop-up window calendar, but something that feels and looks like a full calendar that I can update events and display the calendar on my site for others to view and drill down on a particular day. Could someone throw me in the right direction please? Is there a particular language or platform that I need to check into for this? Thanks...
