How to Hide the Ribbon and Site Actions Menu for Anonymous Users in sharepoint2010?
Thanks in Advance!
I used the following code (below) that I got from another website to hide the ribbon when a user has "add and customize pages" permissions and it works great. All of our main users have "contribute" permissions on our SharePoint site and when they log
on, they are unable to see the ribbon. Users with design and full control on the other hand, are able to see and use the ribbon, which is exactly what we needed.
Now, I need to change the permissions of all of our main users to "Read" and when I do, the users that have "Read" permissions are now able to see the ribbon. Does anyone know how to change the code I used so that users with "read" permissions CAN'T see
the ribbon? I would have thought that the code I used would still hide the ribbon, but appearently it doesn't. Any ideas?

I have set up anonymous access on a sharepoint 2010 publishing site, and that works fine. However, when I try to access the site from a mobile device ( or in a browser with a url of
http://server/pages/default.aspx?Mobile=1), I get 401 Unauthorized.
In the IIS log, it's showing a 401 on: /_layouts/mobile/mblwp.aspx
Any suggestions for getting anonymous to work for mobile users?
I am working on an internal application... i setup IIS 7 to use windows authentication since its behind the firewall and on the domain.. there is a "public" side.. and an "internal" side... if your not part of IT.. you should get the public side.. this is just informational.. my problem is that there is 1 or two pcs that are not on the domain and nobody is logged into them.. how can i just redirect anonymous users to another site???????
everything i read says you can't use anonymous AND windows auth.. so my thought was to just redirect the anonymous users to another site.. how can you do that??
any help is appreciated!
I have a really strange stuff going on... I have Anonymous acces disabled on my MOSS portal in Central Administration:
Central Admin->Application Management->Authentication Providers->Default-> Anonymous Access is
So I doesn't even have an option to enable it on any sites of this web application. But when I create a new
Document Library all users have read permissions to it though I left only
System Account at library permissions .
Am I missing something?
1) i tried with the infopath form submitting but found out that sharepoint wf wont start for system account submission

i cant use the form based authentication, beacuase form itself an request for account password & we dont want users to register again
We have sharepoint 2010 internet facing sites where inside custom master page we have security trimmed control which hides site actions for general users.
Now we have anonymous access enabled. So any body can access this site.
Now even if user is author or from intranet , he can not see site actions as we do not have any sign in link.
How to automatically show site actions to users from intranet and with proper rights and hide siteactions to anonymous users?
I have a sharepoint 2010 box that has anonymous access enabled. One site manager put a document library view on two different pages (insert web part --> lists and libraries --> documents) On one page, they let it display the default view. On the other,
they changed it to display a grouped view (with plus signs, to expand and collapse the list of docs).
The page with the default view works fine. The page with the grouped view asks for credentials when the plus sign is clicked on. If you click cancel, it displays "401 unauthorized".
We need to hide the Sharepoint 2010 ribbon for anonymous users. But we should have the Sign In Link (which is a part of the Ribbon, I believe). Please let me know the steps for this.
The Sharepoint site has been setup for custom form based authentication.
I have part of my site that's accessible to anonymous users, now the permissions are correctly configured so that they can't mess with anything that they shouldn't be - but i'd still like to disable the sharepoint 'backend' pages that let them view all site
content/browse lists that they do have access to etc. - is there any way to achieve this?
My Sharepoint homepage allows anonymous access without login, however after I added a media web part to the page, anonymous users get prompted everytime they view the page.
I am sure the problem is relating to the media web part since the prompt popup disappeared when I removed the web part. I checked the permission of the asset library which holds the video and it allows "View Items" permission for anonymous users. So I would
expect anonymous should not be prompted.
I just google for answers, deactivating "Lockdown Mode" feature is not work for me:
I have read another post of similar issue and the problem still has not been solved:
Is this really a bug or any other method to solve the problem?
