Advanced Sorting on a List

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I just created a list and my requirement is to sort by last name. However, when I go to the Sort & Group section in SPD, I can't see any advanced sorting options and can only sort by the fields themselves. How would I apply a sort expression to a standard list?

Sorting the list of attributes (not members) of a dimension

Hi there,

Any solution with SSAS 2008 R2 for that problem?

"It looks very simple, but I cannot find how to order the list of attributes in a dimension. Let's say I have a dimension Item with two attributes:

- Code
- Description

and I want the Description to appear first. By default it's using the alphabetical ordering but can I change that ?"

It works fine with measures. In BIDS, CubeDesigner, there is are up und down buttons in order to move measures up or down. In the attribute pane, these buttons are inactive.

any help?

Is the "Item-level Permissions" in List Advanced Settings, a security option or is it a way to filter data for the user?
How does it work with the permission done on the item level when breaking inheritance with the list?

Advanced Search does not show items from Custom List- why?

I have search working in general for site. However, when I run it only picks up files - not list items. Even List search in top right comes up with blank results.

I read somewhere that this is switched off due to size of search results.

Can someone tell me how to include List Items in search?

Sorting My SharePoint Sites list under My Links

Is it possible to sort the My SharePoint Sites list (ie, sites that you're a member of, generated dynamically by search) alphabetically? It seems to be listed in order of membership granted.

Just to be clear, I'm speaking of My SharePoint Sites located under My Links in the upper right hand page.

We're running SharePoint 2007 SP2 on Windows 2008 64bit.

Dropdown list sorting

I have two dropdown list controls in my form They both point to the same SharePoint list. The list’s default view is sorted by the ticker column. So the ticker dropdown is fine. However, the company dropdown is not sorted correctly. Following is my code to bind the two controls. I am looking for a way to sort the list dynamitically or I can bind the data to a per-defined view instead of the default view. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

//bind ticker dropdown control

SPList stockList = cWeb.Lists["Stocks"];

ddListTicker.DataSource = stockList.Items.GetDataTable();

AJAX GridView Paging and Sorting using C# in ASP.Net

To enable the GridView Paging and Sorting to update the GridView Data without refreshing the ASP.Net web page AJAX Extension controls are used. UpdatePanel is used to hold the GridView control that triggers the events for the controls placed inside it. By Default UpdatePanel triggers the asynchronous postbacks for its child controls.

GridView Sorting/Paging : 'REAL' AJAX with Asp.Net Series

This is a continuation of my 'REAL' AJAX with Asp.Net (not Asp.Net AJAX) series posts for those of us trying to stop relying on Asp.Net 'AJAX'.

Ok, nothing too dramatic to start things off, we are going to make some tabled data sortable and pagable all without using a bit of postback. Not only that, but it is going to be incredibly easy!

Dropdown list in ASP.NET - How to get value selected

am sure this must be very simple, but unforunately I can't figure it out.
I have the following code which populates the dropdown lists from the database. This works fine. Now, when the user selects a particular employee name from the list, I want to get the Employee Id of the selected employee. i.e. I need to get the "Eid" value. I can do this if the EId is loaded in the dropdown list, but in this case only the employee name is displayed. Please let me know howI can get the Eid value even though it is not loaded in the dropdown list.
I would really appreciate your help

Creating Sites/Lists/List Items under Current User Context in SharePoint By Using SPUserToken

Usually we do this by performing the action under RunWithElevatedPrivileges method and updating the listitem using SPListItem.SystemUpdate() method (see here). but this approach has its own flaws like (RunWithElevatedPrivileges will run under system account, we cannot use SystemUpdate for SPSite,SPWeb,SPList, since it runs under system we will "CreatedBy" by as SystemAccount).
