CmdLet output displays truncated text, how to get the complete text?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi,

The CmdLet named Get-SPServiceApplication returns the following output in the screen:

DisplayName TypeName Id
----------- -------- --
Security Token Se... Security Token Se... d49acb0f-e8bd-4b6f-a052-f8428db1574b
Application Disco... Application Disco... dc1c88e9-cce1-4dd9-9369-9c5e379895a8
SharePoint Server... SharePoint Server... cc575b26-578f-4fac-b12a-1b2e062b0ea9

The text is truncated and replaced by ellipsis. Is there anyway to get the full text of the content?

Thanks in advance.

SSIS Text was truncated with status value 4

I am developing a SSIS package, trying to update an existing SQL table from a CSV flat file. All of the columns are successfully updating except for one column. If I ignore this column on truncate, my package completes successfully. So I know this is a truncate problem and not error. This column is empty for almost every row. However, there are a few rows where this field is 200-300 characters. My data conversion task identified this field as a DT_WSTR, but from what I've read elsewhere maybe this should be DT_NTEXT. I've tried both and I even set the DT_WSTR to 500. But none of this fixed my problem. How can I fix? What data type should this column be in my SQL table? Error: 0xC02020A1 at Data Flow Task 1, Source - Berkeley812_csv [1]: Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "Reason for Delay in Transition" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page.". Text truncated to 255 using SSIS ACE.oledbprovider to import excel 2007 spreadsheet

Hi All, Trying to use SSIS SQL 2005 to import an Excel 2007 file (.xlsx). I'm using Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLEDB Provider with extended properties Excel 12.0;HDR=Yes;IMEX=1 The problem is when I have text with more than 255 characters. It basically defaults the source output to Unicode string[DT_WSTR] 255, If I change it it errors out. I have done the registry change according to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141683.aspx but I think it only applies to Excel source not OleDb Source. (A Excel source does give me a text instead of string )   I have also tried to increasing the length of output such as 4000 instead of 255 but it doesn't allow either.   Anybody can help?I'm stuck for a day. Thank you very much for your help. Regards, Koala

Why is the text truncated in the grid view?

Hello,If you build a DD site using a database that has a varchar() field of length more than about 20, then when you look at the grid view for the table, you only see the first 20 or so characters in the field. Can I change this to show more? Even better, can I modify th grid to show this one field on the next line so it can take up the whole line? Thanks

Output Blank Text File

Hello all,I have come across an interesting edge case when using Response.Write. I couldn't find another forum to post this in, so I'm putting it here, even though its not really "getting started" in my mind. The scenario goes like this:I have a ASPX page that stores data in a string using a comma delimited text format, which is then written to the response stream using Response.Write. Whenever there is data, this works fine. But, when there is no data, the string generated is empty and a basic HTML page structure magically appears in the output even though it isn't even in the .ASPX file. What I'd like to do is simply return a blank text file (not even a space).I've tried using Response.Clear to ensure that there is no content in the response stream. I've tried setting the content type and even specifying a filename in the response header. I am, of course, also using Response.End after the call to Response.Write, but all to no avail. The response is always a basic HTML structure. To eliminate other possibilities, I've set up a test. Just a default .ASPX Web form with the following PageLoad method: Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Response.ContentType = "text/plain" Response.Clear() Response.Write("") Response.End() End Sub

Text was truncated with "nvarchar(max)" data type and size by using SSIS Import and Export Wizar

SSIS Error Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page

I the same issue or something close.

Except I have one Field (27) that get a trunacation error

Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "Column 27" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page.".

The "output column "Column 27" (91)" failed because truncation occurred, and the truncation row disposition on "output column "Column 27" (91)" specifies failure on truncation. A truncation error occurred on the specified object of the specified component.

Data looks like:Red Text is the field that is throwing the error!

How to output data from master detail tables into text file but on different lines.

Hi,

I have a requirement to output data from two tables, a master table and a detail table, to a text file such that the output looks like the following:

master record 1

detail record  1 1

detail record   1 2

master record 2

detail record  2 1

master record 3

detail record 3 1

detail record 3 2

detail record 3 3

etc.

Is this possible in one query?  I am sufficiently familiar with the bcp utility to do the output from any of the tables separately but have some difficulty with doing it for the two tables and have the result structured as outlined above.

How to integrate SQL database and the text output from a C# program

Hi, I have been given a project saying that the server has to scan the files in a folder of client system and I should backup the files from the client if there are any new files. I have divided this project into modules:

1) client-server communication

2) filescanning and displaying the latest modified time of the files on console.

and what I intend to do is the list which is shown on the console right now should get embedded into the database so that the server can compare the files and check for the newer ones.

3) finally client sending the files to the server for backup.

I have accomplised till scanning of the files in a folder module. but I am not sure of doing the database part. Is there anyone to help in this kind of project.

Thanks!

-Dave

The conversion returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or morecharacters

[Datatype Conversion  Name [69]] Error: Data conversion failed while converting column

The attempt to add a row to the Data Flow task buffer failed with error code 0xC0047020

This is working fine in VS2005.  Above both errors Only after upgradation of the package  to 2008.

Pragraph Text Output

I have a long string of text.

I want to break down the text into paragraphs.

Is there any generalized way to achieve this?

E.g. Below is the text string. I want to break it to paragraph using a function in c#.

After the release of Internet Information Services 4.0 in 1997, Microsoft began researching possibilities for a new web application model that would solve common complaints about ASP, especially with regard to separation of presentation and content and being able to write "clean" code.[1] Mark Anders, a manager on the IIS team, and Scott Guthrie, who had joined Microsoft in 1997 after graduating from Duke University, were tasked with determining what that model would look like. The initial design was developed over the course of two months by Anders and Guthrie, and Guthrie coded the initial prototypes during the Christmas holidays in 1997.[2]Scott Guthrie (Microsoft Developer Division VP) in 2007. The initial prototype was called "XSP"; Guthrie explained in a 2007 interview that, "People would always ask what the X stood for. At the time it really didn't stand for anything. XML started with that; XSLT started with that. Everything cool seemed to start with an X, so that's what we originally named it."[1] The initial prototype of XSP was done using Java,[3] but it was soon decided to build the new plat

AutoCompleteStringCollection for text box in DataGridView 2.0

I have been searching for a way to have autocomplete in a DataGridTextBox
object. There does not appear to be an obvious way to do this like you would
for a TextBox outside of a grid using the AutoCompleteCustomSource. Any
thoughts on how I can add this collection? :)

Built-in Functions - Text and Image Functions in SQL Server

Text and image functions operate on TEXT, NTEXT and IMAGE data types. These data types are deprecated with SQL Server 2005 and should be replaced by VARCHAR(MAX), NVARCHAR(MAX) and VARBINARY(MAX) when possible. Alternatively you can also consider storing large string values using XML data type. Text and image functions are nondeterministic.

Future versions of SQL Server will not support TEXT, NTEXT and IMAGE data types. Columns with TEXT / NTEXT data type do not support commonly used string functions such as LEN, LEFT, RIGHT, etc. Furthermore, due to the large size of TEXT data you''re likely to see performance issues if you store such data in the database. However, at times you can''t help but use the TEXT / NTEXT / IMAGE data types (for example when supporting 3rd party databases when you cannot change the schema) - this is when text and image functions come in handy.
