MyInbox, MyContacts, MyCalendar web parts in 2010 - Configuration questions

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi all,

So running SP2010 and using claims based authentication.

Added the MyInbox, MyContacts, MyCalendar web parts to our site and have it now such that when you load the page, those web part boxes display the OWA login screen (the one you'd see if you went directly to the owa). If you scroll down in the box and login, the web parts start working.

1) Is this normal behavior? Should one ever after initially login to their OWA through the web parts or should single-signon detect and log you in automatically?
2) Once you login and see your inbox - great however, after you restart your browser, it forgets your credentials and one must go through the process again.

Any thoughts and advice greatly appreciated!

Sandboxed Solutions for Web Parts in SharePoint 2010

SharePoint 2010 provides a new sandboxed environment that enables you to run user solutions without affecting the rest of the SharePoint farm. This environment means that users can upload their own custom solutions without requiring intervention from administrators, and without putting the rest of the farm at risk.

Sharepoint 2010 masterpage editing questions

Hi, I have a Sharepoint design which I am trying to customise in SP2010. I can't make a new masterpage but I can copy an existing one. Why? I copied default.master. Do I need to keep any of the existing elements like Site Actions? Because this needs to exist if I choose to edit the site page. But of course for a read only user this won't display (is a shame this gets in the way of the design though). Please advise and provide any other useful tips. Thanks
