I'm using PublishingControls HTMLEditor (i was originally using Telerik Rich Text Editor and it dint work too) to facilitate content authors to enter content and publish it. But when i click edit page the publishing console is appearing but no the HTML editors.

I am a Site Administrator, but I do not see Site Settings or Edit Page menu from Site Actions

Hi, I have been using MOSS for over 2 years, but I have not even heard or seen this kind of situation. I am a Site Administrator, but I do not see Site Settings or Edit Page menu from Site Actions menu, and I typed in http://mysitecollection:portnumber/_layouts/settings.aspx to go to setting page manually and looked around there. I confirmed that I am the site administrator, but when I go to Advanced Permissions, I do not see any checkbox beside each users. So basically, I am a Site Administrator on the site, but I am really NOT! What is going on here!?

Retract custom master page feature and all site pages stop working

There is a requirement to apply custom branding on personal sites in a SP 2010 project. For this I have created a feature which uploads and applies the custom master page on creation of any new personal sites.   I have stapled this feature (using feature stapling concept) to the “SPSPERS” (personal site) site definition. The custom master page is displayed on the creation of new personal sites. On feature deactivation, I am looping through all the personal sites (as the feature is deployed on a team site) and pointing the master URL back to v4.master. But when I retract the solution and browse to the personal site, I am getting a “404 File not found” error.  But am able to view the settings page by typing the URL.   I activated the publishing features and looked at the master page applied to the personal site. It was pointing to v4.master.   Any help on this is appreciated. Regards, Neha

Can't inherit default page layout on a publishing site?

Hi,   Implementing SharePoint for the first time.   We've got a page layout that we want to use as a default. We've got it set as the default in the top site in the site collection. However, when I create a Publishing Site with Workflow, it doesn't default to using the right layout, despite the fact the sub-site's Site Settings / Page Layouts show that it it set to inherit the default page layout from its parent.   Oddly, when I create another type of site, e.g. a Blank Site, it does inherit the default layout.   Any suggestions?   :|Ben

Save a publishing page using Javascript in page edit mode

Dear developers,

In a publishing site, I'd like to know the javascript functions responsible to execute the "Save" and "Save and stop editing" buttons logic within the page editing toolbar.

I've seen a poor MSDN documentation related to the Custom Actions in the Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.WebControls.EditingMenuActions namespace and need a way to figure it out.

Best regards

Sharepoint 2007 publishing site home page displays unknown file type security message

I am using sharepoint 2007 sp2, it has been workig fine for the past 8 months but since one of the developers installed .net 4.0 framework, every time we create a new sharepoit publishng site or extend and existing application the home url displays an "Unknown File Type" security warning message and asks users to download the file.  If i manually tupe in the full url http://www.mysite.com/pages/default.aspx it is displayed correctly. I have uninstalled .net 4 from the server but i still have the same  error. I have tried to replicate this error on a development server but sharepoitn works fine on that even with .net 4.0 installed.

Has anyone had the same issue ? I would appreciate  any suggestios or help with troubleshootig this issue.

How to set default Image to RichFieldImage control in custom Publishing Page layout in Site defini

hi,

How to set  default Image to RichFieldImage control  in custom Publishing Page layout in Site definition?

I can not create Article page in publishing site with a error message related to Microsoft SharePoin

I installed MOSS 2010 successfully with all requirements and options. After that It created a Publishing site. But, when I create an article page for news, the error page show that:

Edit access denied on publishing site - content db upgrade

There was a problem a while back in MOSS that caused users with proper rights to get access denied messages when attempting to edit or create items... something to do with the PermMask field needing the RenderXMLUsingPattern attribute to be set to true.

In a publishing site that was content db upgraded to 2010, I'm seeing the same issue, but PermMask is fine.  The problem seems to be with the "Publishing Site with Workflow" site template, because if I create a new subsite in this collection and give a content management user group any level of rights to it, including full control, the error persists in the new subsite.  However, if I create a vanilla team site in the collection, there's no issue.  The site collection has also been backed up and restored in a test environment to isolate any farm- or server-related issues.  Edit: both environments are also patched to August CU.

Anyone find a way around this without resorting to demolition?

In the logs, I'm seeing the following lines (user actually has 0x7FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF):

PermissionMask check failed. asking for 0x00010000, have 0x00000000
PermissionMask check failed. asking for 0x4000000000000000, have 0xB008431061

Hi,

I am using MOSS 2007. I am using custom master page, custom theme, and custom page layout for my portal site. I have created one article page, but 'Edit content' link is showing some javascript error. If I set out-of-box default.master as master page, then its working fine. But its showing me JS error with my custom master page. What could be the reason?

Its very urgent. Please response.

Best way to create a new page in Publishing site?

When creating a new page in a publishing site, is there any essential difference between choosing the "Article page with body only" option versus the "Blank Web Part Page" onto which one puts a Web Content Editor web part?  I know that they render differently on the page, but is the content box on the article page just a content editor web part without the chrome?
There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

Edit Details in Sharepoint 2007 My Site Page

Our Company is currently using Sharepoint 2007 as our intranet.  We want users to start using it for more collaboration and search funtionality.  One function we would want to give each user is the ability to modify their extension number.  However, users cannot edit  the "Work Phone" field in the My Site.  Is there a way to be able to modify this field?

Can only edit a page in a Wiki site in raw HTML

A particular user can logon to SharePoint 2007 companyweb site Wiki and create a new page. However, when he tries to edit the page (or any page) it opens up the editor in raw HTML only. He cannot get the wysiwyg (rich text?) editor. He is using IE7 but the same happens in all browsers. Any ideas?? THanks!

Sharepoint under construction page suddenly appears after site has been working for years?

I installed 3 Microsoft updates and then rebooted the web server.  When it came back up, when I browse to the Sharepoint site in either browser or IIS, I get the "Under Construction - The site you are trying to view does not currently have a default page.  It may be in the process of being upgraded and configured."  None of the files have been changed whatsoever.  I tried removing the updates and that made no difference.  Please help!
