Threat levels indicators

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I want to build a SharePoint Webpart that takes an input from the administrator in a form of a dropdown list and based on that selects a specific image that is displayed to the regular user.

For example, Department of Homeland Sec. has the threat levels indicators that change based on certain conditions. So in my sharepoint app I would like the admins to change the small image based on that.

Incidently isn't there an API or someting for that already?

State Indicators error

Hi all, The indicator feature caused an error: Error The state indicator, Indicator1, was detected in the report. SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services does not support state indicators. Either reduce the error level to a value less than 2 or change the ReportServerTargetVersion to a version that supports state indicators. How can i solve this issue? regards

Unable to get Lastperiods 4 periods in time hierarchy at different levels.

Hi, I am unable to get last 4 periods when the weeks are falling at two different months. Example: The calendarsales contains the following hierachy : Year, HalfYear, Quarter, Month, Week August month contains the following weeks:1033,1034,1035 July month contains the follwing weeks: 1032,1031,1030. So i am selecting the week 1035 and i need last 4 weeks till 1032. But the below qry is returning last 3 weeks 1035,1034,1033. It is unable to retrieve 1032 as it is coming under previous month of July.  Below is the mdx query i am using. **************************************** WITH     SET ORDEREDCAT AS   Order ( [Dim_Product].[ProductDefaultHierarchy].[Category]. MEMBERS ,[Measures].[Sales Units] , BDESC )     MEMBER [Measures].[SalesUnits_L_4WKBP] AS   Sum ( ( {   LastPeriods (4 ,[Dim_RetailerSalesCalendar].[CalendarSales]. CurrentMember ) } ,[Measures].[Sales Units] ) )     SELECT     NON EMPTY {[OrderedCat]} ON 1 ,{ [Measures].[SalesUnits_L_4WKBP]     } ON 0 FROM   [Aroyale] WHERE   {[Dim_Retailer].[Retailer].&[5]}* {[Dim_RetailerSalesCalendar].[CalendarSales].[week].&[1035]} ***************************** Please can any one help me on this. Want a menu with two levels, but I don't want the dropdowns that appear on hover

I am using the CSSFriendly adapters with the menu.  I have a menu control in my master page, and a site map that includes all the pages in the web site.  For the second level on the menu, I have a separate menu control, and I add the items programmatically. When I select an item on the second line, the parent on the top line is also highlighted in the same way.  This is the intent, and uses the .AspNet-Menu-ChildSelected style from the adapter. My problem is that when I hover over the top line, the leaf items cover up the lower line, and I don't like how it looks.  I would prefer to have no fly-outs, if that is what they are called.  So I changed MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels to 0, and these go away.  But then .AspNet-Menu-ChildSelected no longer works, and the parent item is no longer styled.  Everything works except that the parent item is not highlighted.I'm hoping to find a simple solution.

R2 Sparklines and KPI Indicators incredibly slow

We are writing some reports that use the new R2 Sparkline and KPI indicator report items but are finding them to be incredibly slow to render. On a report with 15 to 20 rows the report will take 20+ seconds to display with each individual graphic appearing one after the other. Has anyone else experienced this problem and have any ideas what might be causing it? Andrew Wiles - www.it-workplace.com - MDX made simple

Non parent-child dimension with fact data at different levels... How!

Hi all, Quite new to SSAS, wondering if anyone could help with the following... I've got a dimension with attributes that indicate geographical location based upon UK postal boundaries - so ~1.8m Postcodes > ~10000 Postcode Sectors (PCDS) > ~3000 Postcode Districts (PCD) > ~100 Postcode Areas (PCA). The problem I have is that the address information is not of the highest quality. I have matched 50% of my facts to postcodes, of the remaining 50% i've mapped them to PCDS, PCD or PCA, where possible, leaving the lower-levels as NULL in those cases. My attribute hierarchy works fine where I have complete records all the way down the hierarchy, but I only have a single UNKNOWN member at the top (GOR) level. I want an UNKNOWN member at each level. It makes sense to me how to do this using a Parent-Child dimension, but i'm keen to avoid that as the performance is terrible. I'm hoping there's a method of configuring this. Any help massively appreciated.

Place differente levels of menu on different part of page

Hi, i want design of page like this. At the top of page is first level of menu - Main Categories. On the right site of the page is submenu (level 2). Can i achieve this with bult-in component like Menu control and sitemap file? I want to try create menu this way.

Snapshot Isolation Levels

I have a customer that is getting long blocking chains caused by reporting against OLTP data. I have successfully setup replication to report against a subset of the tables for another customer and this has worked fine. The only downside to this, besides the replication performance impact, is that if many reports are running and updates are happening at the same time, the second report (and up) will be blocked. The blocking chain is the first report blocks the replication agent which blocks the second report and so on. This is probably acceptable but I want to make sure it is the best option. Therefore, I would like to look into using either read committed snapshot isolation (RCSI) or the snapshot isolation (SI).

1) Are RCSI and SI mutually exclusive options? From my testing, I could turn on one without turning on the other. However, I read a blog that said you can only turn on SI once RCSI has been turned on for the database. Is this true? I am assuming the blog was wrong.

2) If I only turn on SI and only ever use a "SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL SNAPSHOT" statement in read only reports, the application (non-reports) should function the exact same correct? (Excluding the added tempdb space used). Obviously a huge dilemma with setting any of these snapshot levels is trying to prevent the changes to how the applicati

Security levels

I'm running SQL Server 2008 SE. I'm trying to give a user permission to view reports in a folder. When I give this user access to that folder by clicking on the folder, go to properties, and then New Role Assignment, that user is not able to access the report server because I didn't give him authintication on the server first. But when I do give him Browser capability from the home page, that will give him access to all the folders and he can see all the reports. So I have to go to each folder that I don't want him to access and remove his account from there.

Is there a better way to do this? I know I can simply give him the link to the folder that I gave him access to, but I don't want to do that. I need the users to access the Report Server home page, and then see only the folders they have access to.

Thank you
